If you have a high quality thread/post let a user that is allowed to post on that thread, post on that thread with reference to your post.
I have to agree. There are many other different ways to stop spammers and you can always mute people who post in the wrong section more than once, then ban if they keep on doing it.
It is better to write five posts over here then to get content-less post later on.

Maybe there are too many trolls (which now stay away from the forum, thanks to the newbie rules), so the admins were not able to ban all of them as suggested :-)

Please let me out of Newbie Jail.. Why not simply allow users to flag postings and if the number of flagged postings exceeds a certain number, then send them to newbie purgatory.
Its extremely annoying because the total time logged in never increases. I understand its "active" online time. But frankly the newbie forum is not that active and there isn't anything I can do to be active short of reading threads that I can't even reply to yet.
Yeah, it's SO FRUSTRATING. Gaahhhh just wish I could pariticipate in all those other threads out there, but I'm stuck in the kiddie pool hoping nobody takes a shit in it.

Maybe some form a minimal bitcoin deposit which is refunded after a bit could work too. A sort of fasttrack registration.
A small portion could be kept by bitcointalk to pay for server maintenance.

As I said in another post there is a simple way to circumvent the newbie forums through javascript, however I don't want to encourage people to do this unless they can figure it out themselves.
Edit: apparently now encouraging people to learn javascript is trolling so I take back my statements and I encourage everyone to stay as far away from javascript as possible. It is too late for me but maybe you all can be saved.

The only downsides for a highly-active site like this (which isn't dying for lack of users) is that it's annoying for those of us who're already conversant in the subject, and it makes the newbie forum's signal to noise ratio pretty low.

As annoying as the restrictions are. I applaud the idea I actually find it a bit amusing and there for hard to be upset about.
