The sole purpose of newbies posting is to be rewarded by merits nothing much. Some of the newbies account been created newly, some of their owners have hero, member, and senior member account. Albeit there's no restrictions of having so many accounts. Some (newbies) post meaningful and educative which are been merited after the post. I support newbies posting more

Most of the accounts mentioned in the OP are probably trying their best to earn merit and they must have thought the best way is to create some topics instead of commenting on spam threads.
<..>
I still see undeserving members ranking up due to such low bar we have set to ourselves for distributing merits.

It's unfortunate to have see such thing around the forum without a report or create a flag for other members to support, I thought that when such a thing happen you need to bring it up in reputation section of the forum, its time we keep pretence and stand up to what we believe in. Nobody will help in fixing the forum lapses if not you and I, "see something, say something and do something" that's my principle in real life and have been using it here on this forum.

Those who deserve to rank up should be the right ones to rank up and not the other way round.

That is the usual case around the forum these days.

Have a stupid suggestion? > Start a thread
Want to get merits by licking some reputed members ass? > Start a thread
Learned how to display merit data in graphs by online tutorials? > Start a thread
Collected some old data from the forum and put it all together as a "helpful" post? > Start a thread.
Found two alt accounts? Start a thread.

I still see undeserving members ranking up due to such low bar we have set to ourselves for distributing merits.

it's not that theymos need to restrict newbies on posting what they want. but if someone is caught using an
alt account creating topics and using their main account to post in that topic there should be a punishment.

if you caught a main & alt posted in the same thread acted like 2 different users to fool others
and you can proof that his intention is to boost post count, activity or other bad intentions
then yes... there should be punishment to either or both accounts
but if it was just a mishap accidentally used an alt to post with no hidden agenda, then let it be

I think jet cash got accused of writing in the same thread using three of his alts (that were publicly known) but for some reason people couldn't keep up...

It was two posts, and it wasn't the board members who couldn't keep up - it was me. I forgot which browser I was using until it was too late. Smiley

I'll probably state that this is a Jet Cash alt in the displayed profile as soon as I am able to. Maybe it would be worth replacing one of the unused social media boxes ( such as ICQ ) in the profile, and then we could include the primary account name.

Maybe those topics that they have posted means a lot to them that they need some opinions about it, or to get some advice from someone. This is an open forum so we are free to say whatever we wanted
Every user is allowed freedom of speech, as long as its meaningful and coherent, read the rules properly, low value stuff and spam posts are not acceptable in here.

So many users are willing to give advices and share their opinions to others, but it must be on questions that are worth it.
Not every question actually should be asked here, Google also has a part to play in assisting newcomers.

Maybe those accounts were created by people who thought this forum is the right place for them but is not, that's why they are not active at all, just saying.
With due respect, I think in your direction too with example to support the argument.

I had been an investor since 2016 till now and never heard of this forum until last few months ago, as an investor, my goal is to make profits from my investment undermining the technology or knowledge behind the tool been use as my investment platform, since my involvement into this industry as an investor base individual, I had no knowledge as what am getting into but just keep doing it for profit while sometimes I fond myself at hug lost. Most of these accounts are more likely to be from investor's who know little or nothing about this technology.

Although, most of us here are basically here for knowledge to know what to do at the right time as more expert are here than our regular summit. Most of my summit I have attended never give some useful tips that I have gained in few days am here, your guys should count yourselves lucky about this forum.

HOW I WISH; I WAS HERE EARLIER THAN THIS!!!!.

Do they usually delete these replies and nuke the users?

It's the same stance as the "great project" spam. They just get deleted, not sure about nuking though, it might not have much of an impact anyway, as people might just come back with a new account...

What is the official stand by the Mods and Admins regarding for example ANN and Bounty threads where a few members seem to be constantly posting nonsense questions and talking to each other and in that way bumping the thread? Do they usually delete these replies and nuke the users?

you can report shitposts to the moderators and they'll usually take care of them.

If you notice the person that keeps posting on the thread and it's just one person then you can probably report them for it.

There are a lot of people here who have alts to make threads because they don't want to be embarrased by what they've done or the questions they're asking - I assume a long standing member here was probably a victim of the electrum hack for example...

it's just that I think some members of the forum are creating new accounts just to the sole purpose of creating new topics where he/she can post.
Yep, that's what a lot of them are doing--creating threads so they and their alts and friends in bounties can post garbage.  It's been happening for at least a few years now.

Unfortunately, Theymos doesn't seem inclined to impose any restrictions on newbies starting up new threads.  He seems to be very much for free speech, which I greatly respect.  On the other hand, because of that we get the nonsense you mentioned.  It's annoying, but my suggestion is to hit the ignore button as many times as it takes.  In addition, you can report shitposts to the moderators and they'll usually take care of them.

theymos doesn't want to implement restrictions for newbies in such a way that would prevent them from creating their own threads or discuss whatever they are interested in. They are restricted from posting in the Serious Discussion board but asides from that they are free to do whatever other forums users do as well.

The best thing you can do is report the posts you think are in violations of certain rules and they will be deleted/banned/nuked by the admins depending on the gravity of the offense.

Not to mention that, there are plenty of companies/organizations which create accounts on BitcoinTalk in order to represent the company/org (a company account, for example)

Many times, these accounts are newbs, but the threads are conducive to a positive experience here.

There’s no restriction right now for newbies to create their own topic but I also suggest to have it. This can also help to prevent the spam in the forum, because for me if you’re a real newbie you will read a lot about the forum and will not create any topic that proves you as not a newbie.
You(a newbie)can come into the forum with a reasonable amount of knowledge about the bitcoin and blockchain technology(maybe not about the forum),then why shouldn't such newbies be allowed to start quality topics and share their knowledge on the forum to others.
You forget that there are long time enthusiasts who only recently tried out the forum, they may be newbies in the forum and it's rules, but not in the bitcoin.
Newbies jail according to theymos would never happen again(at least for now)and I'm in support, it'll hinder the good breeds.

You can do nothing but report the topics, moderators will delete them and you'll build up a nice reporting history if you keep reporting them...
It's possible that you'll get a reporting badge too Smiley (but only if it will be implemented in the future of course Tongue )
Still subject for investigation especially if the topic is great and on the right section then your report might not succeed.

What can be the mechanism to stop this for happening, you cannot restrict the users who whant to learn and ask questions just becase some stupid greedy people are trying to cheat their signature campaings.
I see no way out if we want to keep the status quo as it is now.
