Lol nice observation! I think it's one of those profiles before such restriction we're enabled so obviously the user is very lucky to have an image without meeting the requirements of being a full member xD I would love to see it remain that way!

How do you know the last number?

Avatars were disabled due to some kind of exploit back around October 2013.
They were re-enabled in 2015 on April 1st (it wasn't a prank lol) and also the Full Member requirement was introduced.
So regarding the UID range my educated guess would be 1 - 155000

I have a question too. It's understandable that there was a time when newbies were able to use avatar function on this website but once it got permitted, then why wasn't it possible to just disable this option for everyone, for users registered before this rule. Is this something specific for simple machines forum CMS?
I think in the default SMF there are no features that will remove avatar for a specific rank or under a specific rank. My best guess is that if theymos wanted to remove avatar who are not full member+ then he would need to run a custom script and perhaps he was not much enthusiastic about it. So those accounts still have avatar if they have not changed yet.

It is a glitch and I think it is enough to close the case (on the avatar question, not on the doubt on account compromise)

Hi Admin / Mods,

How can i remove my avatar.
Because i'm not a full member.

I'm very old member of 2013. It was possible in 2013 to upload as a normal member avatars.

I really hate my avatar , but cannot remove it,
anyone can help me?

Theymos has stated he'll remove them for people who don't want theirs anymore, but he won't change it. Best PM him but he's usually pretty busy.

The account is 8 years old, and doesn't look hacked (he still posts in Spanish)
I don’t think you can conclude it is not hacked. The account has made a single post in the past year and the post was two words.
-snip
that may be true but it is the safest assumption at least based on hist 4 pages of post-history and him suddenly posting doesn't really raise any suspicion of being hacked.
What are you talking about?

Someone making a single two-word post, 12 months after making their last post is not an indication their account is not hacked. (notice the double negative).

Btw if LoyceV is true and this account hasn't been hacked (the fact that he still posts in Spanish strengthens this fact), then it's very amazing to see so old members on this forum, those who were taking the first steps in crypto before we were registered here.
coming from that user? not really. the dude edited a photo and put his own address in an attempt to mislead people into sending BTC on his address. and based on his trust the dude is untrustworthy.

The account appears to have controversy regarding a photo it posted.

I looked at his history. The user did not care much about making posts from the account. It's amazing how he remembers his username and passwords.
Saves it somewhere or never log out.  Smiley

Regarding to bought accounts, it can be if it is a Member account with avatar. I don't see how people sell or buy newbie account just because it has an avatar. It can be if it is a VIP account. This account is not.

I need theymos to load me some source merit LOL. Hello theymos!!! :-D

Yeah, now it's obvious that the avatar is there because the user had it before disabling avatar for any rank under Full member.  I spotted him from sportsbet.io thread by the way.

The account is 8 years old, and doesn't look hacked (he still posts in Spanish). Some of the pictures he posted back in the days don't show up because he's now a Newbie, so I'll Merit him. He's clearly not a spammer and I don't think he deserves to miss out on airdropped Merit (despite his negative feedback).

It is a glitch and a privilege for grandfather users before that day when Newbie restrictions

The newbie used to be a Jr. member in the days only activity point was taken for ranking up End of newbie restrictions; ban changes. Before Jan 2014, the user had 47 posts so it was enough to be a Jr. member.

Restriction to wear avatar for Full member was on since Avatars re-enabled

It is now once again possible to upload an avatar to the forum. You must be a full member or above to upload an avatar.

old era Jr. member (with activity > 30), worn signature, still have it after demotion to newbie. It's a glitch.

It seems to be fitted with Bitcoin talk's important historic changes

Is this because the account was created when avatar was not restricted to any rank?
Afaik yes, as I've seen below Full Member accounts wearing avatars, and all of them were old accounts, and if I remember correctly, also from 2012. Maybe it works the same way like those animated avatars, which are not available anymore but as long as you don't replace it with something else, they will stay.

Don't quote me on it, but I'm guessing that he added his avatar before they were disabled, reenabled and restricted to certain ranks. It also seems like it's one of those SMF default ones you could pick from back in the day.

I just spotted this user: https://bitcointalksearch.org/user/whistle11-72990 (archive)

I know we have a special team (cryptios or something with three users), who had avatar option enable when they were at such rank but with this user how it's working?

Is this because the account was created when avatar was not restricted to any rank?
