I personally don't think we will reach ATH until segwit and bip141 are activated middle/end of August. This is only my opinion and I am trying to look at it logically but bitcoin surprises all.

This coin is legitimate because the current scaling roadmap proposed by the core developers largely is not.
They want bitcoin to mostly scale with second layer solutions which is not what Satoshi created and
by the way is not anything that other coins are doing, so they are the ones doing a radical change
which is more like an altcoin. True story.

If he didn't buy in at $1830, he's thinking btc will fall sub $1000 due to the scaling mess (and he may be right).
Edit: Looks like SegWit is going to be locked in today and the price has climbed to over $2600 as of this post. Sub 2k may never happen again. Hopefully everyone got theirs while they could. But, this is Bitcoin, who knows...
