Well we cant blame only the Nike about on this issue it takes a process to release somekind of design and Im sure Nike takes an survey about it and included the some of the Muslim i know it might offensive because of the position of the words on the bottom part of the shoes. I know Nike will response to it and do some changes if the design didnt like by the consumer.

If the shoes said "Fuck Allah" or "Allah was a pedophile", I would buy them as a collector's item.

Insulting religion is not a crime.  We should be able to make fun of STUPID ideas no matter how crazy they are.

I've read that for automobiles, considerable study is done on whether a new proposed name offends anyone in any particular language. Because the cars are sold worldwide and nobody wants a car which has a name which is, say, "SHIT" in that language.

Should Nike pay attention in such a matter? Sure.

But how far? Here the objection is to a part of the phrase taken out of context and said to mean something different than intended. I'm curious what an average muslim would think of this matter.
.......
As for the Muslims, they get very easily offended. .....
I have to buy a pair of those shoes before they take them down.

How about all the things muslims do that offend others?

Is any serious concern given to these issues?

Yes, I've read the same thing and found it incredibly funny that some car names happen to mean female genitals in some countries, or that Mitsubishi Pajero means wanker in Spanish. Even though some of these names were later changed in target countries, they didn't do anything about the rest of the world, which ultimately lead to people being offered pussy wagons and wankers. Cheesy

As for the Muslims, they get very easily offended. Like that story with Red Cross, which is a very well known organization that helps people all around the world, but the Muslims felt offended by the sign of the cross and demanded it to be changed to crescent moon.

I have to buy a pair of those shoes before they take them down.

Muslims who kill Christians are radical Muslims who also kill their own, needless to say that not all Muslims are radical and those who are just take it too extremely, though Stoning shouldn't be a practice  and Homosexual rights should be respected. People will ALWAYS find a way to see something "offensive" and  "Problematic" I don't know its just society these days trying their best to be woke.
Now come on lets not get into that debate. You cannot deny the fact that every Muslim is Fanatic (qattar) about their religion. I can tell you in every country these people supports such fanatic people and want to have sharia law where they live.

Regarding what is told about NIKE shoes, i think they first need to introspect to what they have done to non-muslims and then react to such logos.

But if you look at the video, they've singled out about the middle 1/2 of a phrase, basically a "V" and a "W", and say they don't like that.

If yo pay attention it is the I W V that is the cause of the issue

I is Alif, = A
W is two L (Lam)
The V looks like a Ha when attached to the end of the word

Allah written in Arabic :

The nike shoe :

But it is not the 1st time Nike has done it.
After a quick search i found this :

https://www.logolynx.com/topic/nike+air+allah

Quote
In 1997 Nike agreed to dump a style of athletic training shoes after Muslims complained the flame-like logo resembled the name Allah. In exchange for the suspending sales and issuing an apology, the Council on American-Islamic Relations agreed to urge Muslims around the world not to boycott Nike products. The company also agreed to donate a $50,000 playground to an Islamic elementary school in Virginia.

There's no shortage of offensive material out there, if you look hard enough.  And no matter how civil you intend to be someone will be offended by something you say or do.  It's unavoidable.

Something specific about Arab culture which many Americans find curious; it is offensive to show the bottom of your shoes to someone.  So if you are sitting with your legs crossed, who ever happens to be in direct line-of-sight of the bottom of your shoes may take offense.

That is insanity how can my shoe bottom be an offense to any one if they culture forbids that then they should not come out to where civilized people are in other not to get offended because everyone out they is leaving his or her life and don't let your own infringe on the other person freedom to express his self both in speech and dressing.

People are way too easily offended about everything.  If you don’t like something, just ignore it and move on.  Don’t buy it.  Pretty much somebody will be offended by anything.  Soon we will ban pickles because they look like dildos.

I love pickels and it should be the other way around: let's ban dildos!

For God's sake you're ridiculous...

The petition gathered not even 40k persons world wide... I could gather that much people for pretty much anything, it's completely meaningless...

And by the way the petition isn't stupid at all. They clearly said that it already happened 20 years ago and Nike apologized and promised to not do it again. And now they do it again.

What's wrong with wanting a private company to stick to its word? I know it's incredible for some people here but it happens that people don't like lies whatever the lie.

So Nike has a pair of shoes out and the Writing on the bottom resembles the Word God or Allah and Muslim Snowflakes are offended.

It's ok to Kill Christians and Stone people to death or throw Gay people off roofs but God forbid Nike has this.

I'm going to be buying a pair and Walk through Pig Shit just because i can.

Is there anything that Doesn't offend the Delicate Muslim Religion?
I heard that news and I am so sad about this. No one has rights to attack any religious faith. Nike did very bad work. We should boycott Nike for their worst work.

Well, the Spanish Inquisition was disbanded only 185 years ago, and Islam is about 650 years younger than Christianity.  So, give them time.  Cheesy

And how many people were killed during the Spanish Inquisition?  In the three centuries less than 5000 were executed. Now that's a lot in moral term. But in historical term - you know, Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot, the Kims in Korea - 5000 over 3 centuries is ... child's play.

Let's double that 5000 and double it again. It's still only 20,000 in 3 centuries.

Now compare it to the religious violence in Iran, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Syria over the last 20 years.

Ya see the difference?

I grew up Muslim (in the US,) and the vast majority of my interaction with people who are true believers demonstrates they are peaceful, respectful, and accepting.  Of course there are bad seeds who give the whole religion a bad name.

Muslim living in the West as a minority is very different than living in a Muslim majority nation. when in minority they are one of the greatest groups to hang out with but when in the majority its completely opposite. fortunately and unfortunately I have both experiences.

If the shoes said "Fuck Allah" or "Allah was a pedophile", I would buy them as a collector's item.

After writing "Fuck Allah" or "Allah was a pedophile" that shoe company or any other company will go instinct-shutdown. every piece would become collector's item automatically due to blood bath after this event. followed by never-ending hate.

In short, don't wanna witness this madness only for some collectible items.

So a lot of cultures have some big deal about showing the bottom of your shoes.

Given that I can see why they don't like god on the bottom of shoes.

But if you look at the video, they've singled out about the middle 1/2 of a phrase, basically a "V" and a "W", and say they don't like that.

So nothing should be offensive IN A DIFFERENT LANGUAGE?

That's crazy.
