How do you know from ebay if a card is a pure reference card ?

Also i am still waiting for your offer for 5970's from other thread ..Wink

I either look at the pictures or ask the seller. Also I am not seeing this offer for 5970's. Could you link me to your reply?

Hey man,

I have a Diamond reference 7970. I get 615kh/s at 875 core and 1375 mem. The card runs great except that if its mining and I'm surfing the net there will sometimes be a little artifacting. Its the kind where blocks will appear and disappear when you scroll over them. I should also say that I have the card undervolted to 1.012 volts on the core which could be causing this problem. It never bothered me enough to mess with.

Otherwise the card plays battlefield 3 beautifully and never artifacts.

If you can do $315 shipped its yours.

Also, it still has till december on the warranty. I would have to be the intermediary for any warranty work with Diamond but I'd be happy to do this (this is an RMA replacement so they know who I am).

Thanks,
Andrew

If it plays a game without artifacts or crashes, then I am interested. I listed my payment types up top (I'm actually hurting on bitcoins right now, only have about 1 + change). I am also familiar with "artifacts while web browsing" in certain situations; It has to do with hardware accelerated video decoding being enabled which usually has it's own clock settings build in to the video card, but I see a poster above me has already pointed that out.

Changed my mind, no longer buying 7970s right now. Looking towards more energy-efficient means of mining bitcoins now.

^ Mine does the exact same thing. There's a setting in IE that says, "Use software rendering instead of GPU rendering." When, I select that those little blocks you talk about completely go away.

I'll sell you a NewEgg giftcard for -10%.

I'm not entirely sure what that means, but Newegg doesn't sell any reference 7970's anymore anyways (They are knockoffs, reproductions with poor quality control), so I wouldn't be interested. Thanks anyways.

No problem. I thought there may have been some available at newegg and I have a giftcard I haven't yet found use for. So naturally, I thought I might as well offer.

Would you want a 7950? I have a reference Sapphire I'm trying to sell. The numbers near the pci-e match your first post, but now you got me wondering if its a knockoff reference. I think I read that this card uses the 7970 board design??

I would be willing to work out a good price for someone like you.

Still buying at these prices. Ebay prices are plummeting. Many 7970 can be found on ebay in the sub-$340 range, which means only $310 after ebay and paypal takes their cut, and even less if you do auction style since electronics buy it now final value fee is less than auction final value fee.
Unfortunately for you guys, I continue to find cheap 7970's there and no bites here. Very strange that people want less money and not more Smiley

You would be correct in that I won't take any of those XFX dual fan's. There is an awful lot of reports complaining of temperatures with it, and I just don't trust nonrefs anyways.

Anyways, I stick by my $335 offer. These are all cards I have bought recently for $335 or less from ebay. They are all reference.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/221233870780 $325
http://www.ebay.com/itm/221232432557 Best offer accepted for $335
http://www.ebay.com/itm/121111760419 $325 each. Not -exactly- reference, but power circuitry's temperature sensors works like a pure's and clocks just as high as pures at the same volts.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/181141320225 $335
http://www.ebay.com/itm/330918922163 $330

And so on. I think my price is fair, considering ebay and paypal will take $28 total from that amount.

I guess I need to set up an eBay store or something... I sold a card for $180, eBay took $18 and Paypal took $7.32.   Uh, can I just have eBay take the fees out before they transfer it on over to their paypal subsidiary?

Bitcoin / Crypto mining Hardware.
Age shouldn't really matter; all reference cards are pretty old at this point. Brand new "reference" cards are knockoffs with a different color PCB and poor quality and power control. I bought 4 of these reference knockoffs from newegg a month ago, and 3 of them have degraded to the point of instant crash in any 3D game and are currently in RMA. So long as it is game stable and pure reference as described in the OP, I want it. I will pay $335 per card shipped (that means zero for shipping Tongue)

I -might- budge on my price if you can convince me. What do you have you can sell to me?
Not sure if this is a reference card (it looks like one), but pretty close to your price point:

two decidedly non-reference 7970s:

if you don't have to pay sales tax at newegg and you do the MIR's and sell the games, both under $335 or less

myNote: XFX Double D's are the worst mining cards ever. Piss poor heatsink, and fans that need to be extracted with vice grips and lubed every 3 months. I am sure OP is gonna look the other way Smiley

a) Since I use Linux for GPU miners all my 79XX are on 700MHz, 0.95V, in other words they had a pretty easy life, and I had a pretty easy life wrt stability, heat removal and power management.

b) I have 3 reference cards that will need to be retired, but I think the quoted price is on the lower side, when I can ebay them for 1) bit more 2) will be paid before shipping

About just reference cards, i've got 2 sapphire Dual x 7970, two 7970 sapphire reference cards with Ghz edition BIOS and a ASUS DC II 7970.
I made a record of scrypt mining of 800khs on the 7970 reference cards in my full covered water cooled system, they are great but you can buy good 7970s like twin force 2, ASUS DC 2....
I know others like XFX or gigabyte sucks like it allways do. But Sapphire, ASUS and MSI cards are amazing, and you can do a great job by change of the BIOS.
