How do I close old alt accounts that I can't access?

Normally you'd PM theymos (head admin) to lock your alt account, but since you can't access it, it might be a little harder to do so. You may need to provide him proof that it is indeed your account, by signing from a bitcoin message it posted on this forum, or adding some hidden HTML text in the of webpages that it has posted before.

Yeah I marked the ones with no access today .
That should be ok for now i guess , and if you really want that nobody can get access to them just ask Cyrus for ban them.
I have no doubts about that this accounts are your alts as i have seen you posting with it in the past.
So there should be no problem and i think you will get help from the recovery team with that to solve it.

I marked them as not in use with neutrals so it should help them not confuse anyone.

I think that's enough. Anyone can clearly see the message you left on those accounts and no one will be able to remove it.
I think it is unlikely that someone would get access to those accounts by accident if you had a strong enough password on them.

It was so closing the account like what has been done to the account of Lauda? Is that your intention? Is banning okay here as well?

I simply do not want accounts I can’t access to be mistaken for active accounts.

the cellphone account and the vacation accounts are not accessible.

both were done for better security and with my lack of access to them they serve no purpose.

I marked them as not in use with neutrals so it should help them not confuse anyone.

@philipma1957

The best thing i guess you can do is just let them as they are now or try to write to Cyrus or get in contact with Rizzrack from the Account recovery team.
They can and are the one they can help you with your Alt Accounts , and in my opinion to mark them with a neutral feedbacks is also good idea.
To be sure that nobody else can get access to them maybe they should get locked after all things are sorted out with the recovery team.

However, Lauda asked theymos to ban his account before he left the forum, so it's possible for admins to do it if you ask them in personal messages (not guaranteed they will do it).
Making your old accounts inactive is also fine, and you don't need to do anything, except maybe posting with your main account about your decision.

Yeah i also see two cases only on the forum one you have mentioned about @Lauda to ban his account and other of @satoshi that @theymos himself has locked out to avoid any problems as we all know many try to be one's they are not.

So it's best not to use them and tell others about it because I don't think @theymos will dig deep into the matter so you can try the above mentioned ways or not login using the same account of yours.

Yeah can't find the old cell so I can't access that one.

and the vacation on is not in use for a really long time.

I guess I will mark them with neutrals and tell everyone they are no longer in use.
Yeah that will serve the purpose on the basic lines as if someone gain access to these accounts they can ruin your name so it's better to tag them if you are not having access to your account or can contact @theymos for permanently banning them.

By marking others will also be aware about it and nobody can have bad access to it.
.
That is the best thing to do if Op needs to abandon or banned his all alt accounts because we all know that administrators especially theymos can only do that thing and we  as user of this forum we can not do that. And if OP will contact you via private message to thyemos then he has a chance make a wish and granted. Like those users you've mentioned above that are the best example.

How do I close old alt accounts that I can't access?
That's a good idea OP if you close your alt accounts if that account Is no longer active in terms of postings or contribute to this forum.

There is no option to close accounts in bitcointalk forum.

How do I close old alt accounts that I can't access?
There is no delete option available in bitcointalk like we see in facebook and Instagram  Cheesy

Anyway you don't have access then you no need to worry but if the account hacked by someone so you lost your access then create thread in reputation section with the evidence that account belongs to you and how you lost account so it will be tagged and then its almost useless here.

The simplest solution would be to just never ever use them again.

...and also don't forget to tag them as no longer used / no longer accessible.
Since they were secondary/unsafe accounts maybe even neutral tag would do.

Imho the hassle of recovering them makes sense only if we find them hacked and posting around.

Maybe the account recovery team can help with proving those really are your accounts. I assume if they can be tasked to recover locked or hacked accounts, theymos trusts their judgement to the point their decisions aren't being questioned.

@philipma1957
Are you worried that someone might some day get access to these alt accounts of yours and that's why you want them banned or closed? Not really sure what the appropriate term is. The simplest solution would be to just never ever use them again.

I still can say that "Anonymous" username it is "tysat" click on last edit topic and will see it.
I guess it's a different user and based on this, tysat is most likely a moderator at that time, that's why he can edit other users posts. There's so many old users become a moderators, but they're not a moderator anymore e.g. blitz, badbear etc as I read on the old topics before.

Tysat would have been a moderator around that time if I remember correctly,

Deleting accounts doesn't mess up any threads, like this thread. It just changes to anonymous, with no profile information. Post stays intact.

As you can see here, I only change the username to "Anonymous" on request.

This is not something the forum usually does. There are already several topics similar to you and each time people answered "never log in and that's it".

In reality, nothing prevents getting an exception if the admin agrees. After all, Lauda requested to theymos to ban his/her account and it has been done. So why yes for Lauda and not for philipma1957? That's up to you to convince the admin, héhé.
It's a matter of a few minutes to do it, but if thousands of users request the same thing... that's another problem.

Theymos also have ability to turn user (and all associated posts) into guest with name Anonymous. But it's unclear whether Theymos still accept such request today.

I remember that if you recover the password via email, your account will be closed/locked, so ask the administrator to restore access to those accounts and then close them using your email or ask them admin to do it directly.

But if you want to delete your account (hide all posts), then if you have a good reason for that, it will be deleted even though I think your posts are good and worth reading.

this is a very interesting situation, I think it's all up to the moderators.
I don't think they should suspend those accounts just because you claim they are your alts. that is not enough proof.
If you haven't access to him, you can't confirm that they are in your hands. Probably only if there are any Bitcoin addresses associated with these accounts where you can sign the message. Or even maybe you can ask admins just to give you a hint as to which email addresses were used for registration, maybe you remember and manage to regain access to those accounts.

I might be able to get into the cellphone one.

I ported the phone and the account did not port over.

but Maybe I have the old cell and it takes a charge.

If thats the case I could  possibly get into that one.
