Poster does raise a valid point,  if there are no developers volunteering (and the latest source code hasn't been released),  then who is going to build all these wonderful features?

Hi guys,

Just saw this one the nextcoin forums. Has this been seen yet?
Can anyone give him an answer? Seems like a "hidden" cost for most users.

Is there any way to reduce or outright throttle bandwidth usage of the NXT client?

I've been running NXT client on Windows since mid Dec, upgrading to newest version when new ones are out.  The client uses between 150KB/s to 500KB/s.  This works out to 390GB to 1.2TB(!) per month.  My ISP charges dearly for exceeding 300GB/mo.  I first found this out because in Jan I unexpectedly hit 500GB of usage - thanks largely to NXT client.  In the first 10 hours of the new month, NXT client (now version 0.5.11) has already racked up 18GB of transfers.

I have high confidence in this next-gen currency, and want to participate in the network. And I don't want to lose NXT due to transparent forging penalties if I don't participate. But I can't pay Comcast another $50-200+ a month to be able to run such a bandwidth hungry app.

Please let me know any way to reduce the NXT client bandwidth consumption, and/or to set explicit throttle limits on it.  My apologies if this should be common knowledge, but I've already searched these forums and general internet for throttling or bandwidth related docs or posts and found nothing.  Thanks.

Nxt only need good development from devs (soon) or will die, its simple.
I agree..
And why is that?

I'm talking about services. For what will you use Nxt if there are no services for gambling, shopping and so on.

A currency is just as useful as there are services accepting the currency.

so you think that project implementing nxt > nxt itself in terms of ROI? strange to hear that..

Looks like u have not attended Economy courses Smiley

Interesting how developers always think they can come up with something even better.

Btw can we give newbies some free NXT for the 1500 page milestone?

Seriously agree with you!

I saw a post @twitter;

"Bitcoin Watcher ‏@Bitcoin_Watcher  3m
“What we need is a safe and secure multi-coin wallet that runs on win, mac, linux.”"

Is it possible with an NXT client to do this soon?

What's so wrong with CfB eventually moving on?

I still don't get why ppl see me as the leader. Last year main income of my team was generated by contracts found on BTT. It's just a coincidence that I picked BCNext's offer to create a client for his project. Main functionality was offered for free, just to support yet-another-altcoin with some innovations, but I expected to earn money by implementing extra functionality. That's how I work - offer something for free so that people see that my team is able to do what they need. And then charge money for further development.
Some ppl think that I'm BCNext coz I'm the only one who contacts him directly. Well, I have my own cryptocurrency in development. It doesn't make much sense to create a competitor to my own coin...

So,  are you going to finish the 0.6.0 refactoring?

So, you have your own cryptocurrency in development... which is a competitor to Nxt.

So who is going to maintain Nxt when you leave?
