and how its supposed to do to move all the people from one forum to another ?
? ? ?

Quantum Tunneling.

Or we could hire a big truck, it is a lot of people.

(Seriously, we just open threads on the new forum, with a link to the old forum threads. People will use both forums for a while, then, hopefully, everyone will slowly move on over to the new.)

@Damelon: yeah, I really like the BTT thread layout. Nextcoin is almost as good, but nxtcrypto just doesn't do it for me.

Someone was talking about wanting bandwidht limitation for nxt-client, well here it goes. I will as usual refer to my install script for debian and ubuntu -alike operativesystems.

1. Installs or upgrades latest version of nxt-client (or you can specify version as well)
2. Installs (ask user if they want to) all packages that is needed for the client and my scripts.
3. It now supports bandwidths throttling per port (7874).
4. Everything is configured in /etc/nxt/nxt.conf
5. Everything is run via /etc/init.d/nxtclient (which also runs a boot, of course)

https://github.com/jobbet/nxt/

EDIT: for those who are interested about the bandwidht throttling, see traflimit function in nxtclient

NXTcommunityfund update

As directed by James (jl777),  who has sole authority to allocate the NXTcommunityfund, I have transferred 75K NXT to 2037401990853753795 ( I believe this is controlled by Salsacz) as partial payment towards the Let'sTalkBitcoin audio advertising campaign.

https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.4909278

There have been two contributions by unknown (to me, anyway) donors into NXTcommunityfund since my last report.  These generous contributions were for 99,499 NXT and 500,000 NXT.

Thank you, generous donors !!!

With these two deposits and one withdrawal (plus a 1 NXT fee), the current balance of NXTcommunityfund now stands at 2,652,506 NXT valued at $178,877.29.

NXT.org
All,  Ive asked QBTC to list her out of pocket expenses so far for website.  Obviously, she should be reimbursed from unclaimed NXT for this, hopefully along with a bit of bounty for her hours and hours and hours of professional services on the site.

And the community will need to determine if she should scale back the performance of the site to lower the bills.

Obviously she cannot continue to fund the www site like she has been doing.  If the community doesnt want her to continue running it then at least reimburse her for the $ she's spent on it so far.

I made a proposal yesterday for at least her cost so far (which is considerable, btw) to be reimbursed directly from unclaimed coins since she has already provided those services.  But no one seems to want to do that, so I guess we probably wont have a www site whenever the monthly cost for it is due again.

I was thinking that we could pay her costs from until now directly from unclaimed NXT, and the future costs would come from marketing fund, but at this point it looks like we wont have a web site too much longer, unless someone else wants to just pay the cost out of their own pocket as well as do all the work themselves.

WTFO?Huh   Angry  Personally I think she has been doing a phenomenal job and the lot of you are complete assholes for making me write all this up.

I think everyone agrees with it, but noone feel like THEY should have to pay, so I guess they wait for the committe and fund.

First marketing thing to do should be to use a specific forum for NXT instead of creating multiple threads on this bitcoin forum.

This long thread isn't easy to follow, and now you re creating more around ?  Huh

+1^100000

I have said this for weeks now. Let's start using the forum NEXTCOIN.ORG where we have 4500 active members. Why the hell are the main decisions still being made in this neverendingthread that is more disorganized than a crackhead?

Actually it should be nxtcrypto.org - if everyone moves there, members will come. Best to use a forum that is independent.

I agree with this completely and have brought it up several times why we don't post on nxt's forum instead of btc forum.

What do you think a new user/investor's first impression is when they arrive at nxt forum n it's a deserted ghost town.

I highly recommend we chose one centralized nxt forum n everyone post there.  Since nextcoin.org is own by dgex.com i suggest we post on nxtcrypto.org just to eliminate the conflict of interest. also, since no one wants to use the name "nextcoin" (except myself), i propose we use nxtcrypto.

Also, it would be helpful if people discuss marketing/promotion in it's own thread instead of discussing it in the development thread.

Trying to have the longest alt coin thread btc talk is not gonna have a long term benefit for nxt.

Tai Zen

+ lots.
This thread is doing my head in, tbh. It's getting a lot harder to stay on top of current events, and we even have poor old Damelon spending hours per day just on summarising the damn thing.

It could easily be split off into 4 or 5 monster threads on one of the other fora, instead of one Godzilla thread like now.
And think about the situation 3 or four months down the line, when we have 10x (100x .....1000X) times the current users.

It is a very impressive thread, though. Someone should get hold of backups and save them for our grandkids....or make a book.

I've been an admin on a big forum (weebl forum in the glory years) for years and basically I dislike the layout and use of nxtcrypto.

It's very hard to keep good track of threads on it and it's hard to read.  Simply having striped posts installed (different tones for alternate posts) would help immensely.

The main thing however would be to actually dó the move. If we are half committed and all tech people stay in here, it just won't happen.

Running a forum is hard work. Getting a crack team of moderators that balance being fun ánd be able to use the whip while being able to withstand some criticism is also hard.

I'm all for moving, but somehow I don't feel either of the forums will work the way they are. (Italic for emphasis)

forging next is a joke if you dont havemillions..
let the millionare stackholders do the dirty job and run the java shity client...they arethe only who earn money forging
I quit to open java client because simply i didnt forge anything.

Maybe I'm misinterpreting your tone here, but forging NXT is no different than bitcoin in that you need money to make money... you gotta have $10,000 USD to buy a Neptune mining rig (or whatever the f*ck they're called these days).

Buying an $89 USB ASIC does not launch a career in mining, nor in forging.

Nxt isn't magic for beginners with no money but hopes of making a career out of skimming fees.

Nxt is all about forward-thinking features and a group of people that bust their asses because we don't have crutches like memes or pseudo-celebrity coin logos.

CFB, I'll take 30-40 BTC's worth!

Too much movements, sorry. Only all for 100 BTC.

Let me see if I can withdraw 60BTC at once from my BTC-e account.

My question remains unanswered: how many TPS do we currently have? 1? 2?

 Grin

Based on last 10 blocks - 0.01

Hmm, i see. (also considering other answers)

It think from a marketing perspective, it's better to have not perfect but superior product. So, even 50 oder 100 TPS would suffice to stand out.

After we fixed the whole community with that little drug, we can progress further to 250 TPS (NXT2) and in the long run with 1000 TPS (NXT3).

Think this is much more efficient because anybody will 1) see NXT is the better product and 2) it's getting better and better.

I love people who have their feet on the ground.
There is no need for 1000TPS at the moment.
We have the *potential* but it needs work.
At this moment the drive to actualise that potential could actually hurt us more than help us.

Step by step etc. and various refences to the building of Rome.  Smiley

I agree.

Starting slowly and continuously increasing the specs work like a drug for tech-savvy people. They are eager to wait for the next BETTER version if they see the progress.

I agree. When do we start the transition?

The best option would be an distributed forum. Wink

There has to be some debate on my proposal. I must have made some mistakes somewhere. Does everybody agree with this:

**************
Proposal for Unclaimed NXT

I suggest we put up a slate of 7 trusted members that the thread discussing this will recommend. Then we put it up for an up or down vote.

If approved, the unclaimed NXT are divided among the trusted 7. They will be obligated to disburse funds that are approved by a marketing committee (3 Million NXT) and a tech committee (5 Million NXT) and an infrastructure committee (1 Million Nxt).

The election to the marketing, tech and infrastructure committees are independent from the decentralization of the unclaimed NXT. This means we can independently figure out who is on the three different committees and as soon as one group is formed, projects can be funded.

The community has already decided on 250,000 NXT per month for Marketing, so the marketing committee task is to figure out how best to allocate that budget.

tech and infrastructure committees have not formed yet, but we don't need to figure out all the details for getting the trusted 7 members in place.
**************

James

I agree. Let's choose 7 people for keeping money.

If it takes 7 people to be in charge of the nxt treasury, then we have some serious trust issues inhouse.
