Does anybody have experience with JNA or JNI?
We need somebody to make libzerocoin callable from Java and I think JNI allows us to do that.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Java_Native_Interface

If you can help with this please let me know.

James

Take a look at SWIG.  http://www.swig.org/

Adds some overhead, so not ideal.  Makes the process of integration easier.
Overhead is not a concern during proof of concept stage. Do you have experience with SWIG?

Looking for a NXTcash team member with experience encapsulating C++ library for Java use.

actually it would be stupid if someone outside of Nxt community wanted to create fork of Nxt, because he has no experience etc

So, anyone inside of the Nxt community is allowed to create a fork of Nxt?

sure, it spreads the word about Nxt

 Huh

No restrictive licenses. We just need to make sure people that use NXT give proper attribution to NXT. They cant cut and paste it, change a letter and call it theirs without saying that they are based on NXT.

I believe that is what the MIT license states. So we just need people to honor the spirit of how NXT is released.

My interpretation is that any NXT holder is damaged by anybody that steals NXT property. So theoretically, anybody owning NXT at the time of infringement would have standing to sue. Is that wrong?
James

And when a stakeholder is actually doing those things? Copying, cloning etc? isn't that the case with all those clones?

So I guess you have to be a Nxt stakeholder to clone Nxt.  Looks like the NEM folks (apparently Nxt insiders) are busy collecting donations in Nxt and BTC for their Nxt clone:

https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/ann-nem-4-billion-coins-equal-shares-for-all-registration-thread-part-2-440185

Let the clone wars begin!

What was that again about the 'trap' in the code that'll render clones dead in 24 hours?

Anyone can clone Nxt, but CFB can kill it.  NEM is founded by Utopian, he's a Nxt supporter, but the only insiders would be CFB and JL.

Using restrictive licenses would be very bad for Nxt.  I would sell my stake today and forget about this project if I thought that was seriously the plan.  We already don't have a usable open-sourced copy of Nxt, but my understanding is that we will within a few months.  Short delays in open sourcing new features is going far enough and it is debatable whether or not Nxt benefits from this.

FC: almost missed u, my sweet!

I'm too lazy for a full-on fight tonight, so here are my thoughts on NXT cloning:

It's open source. Open. We are supposedly offering economic "freedom from tyranny" here in the world of crypto, so we need to stick to the ideals of open source.

So, even tho' it might make some people very unhappy, even the FCs of this world can clone NXT and do with that clone what they will.
Stealing promo material and non-open source concepts is , however, out of order, eh FC?

We've all seen the FCs been very bloody annoying, but he's doing it out of butthurt, jealousy and greed, and it looks like he's losing.
Because we have a bloody good product in NXT, with a superb community, we need to have faith that NXT can win on it's own merits and not need to hide behind the skirts of the law like a little kid.

Tl:DR  Open source, remember ? So, open for everyone, even Carloses.

Oh, a Friction in the thread! Let me formulate it differently,
anyone who is not Carlos Perez/FrictionlessCoin might be able to create a fork of Nxt  Grin

Joke aside... anyone who is able to can clone it as it is open source. Whether you will achieve anything by doing that is another question. btw, why were your threads closed?

Very quick question, çoz I just got home to find both my home NRS node and me VPS being completely mad:

Is/has something wierd been happening on the client/blockchain front, and do I need to upgrade to 5.11 ?

Some people have reported splits since the new client was released.

Put me down as reporting that both my 5.10 nodes (home & VPS) seem to have split off into madville.
Constant blockchain re-scans, looks stable for 5 minutes, then the blocks start running back and the unconfirmed tx go to the moon.
Refeshing NRS in-browser makes no diff, restoring blockchain backups also only good for 5 minutes.

Bollocks, looks like I'm going to be upgrading for a while.
I hate everyone......... Angry

Same happened to me, all the sudden 5.0.10 became unstable.  I think there was even a fork and block explorer was on another branch.
