Hello,

We are looking into adding Nxt. Thanks for the note.

Wes

You can almost hear the tired sigh.

I removed the email address off the Google doc, they are well aware who we are and the interest.

SWARMERS NEEDED

Due to the lackluster community effort for SWARMing projects I have setup this in an attempt to form a always active SWARMing group.
Given the upcoming articles and posts that will be about NXT over the next weeks this is very much needed:

I am looking for 30 SWARMers that will do as instructed in terms of commenting and upvoting/liking articles, posts, videos etc.
The goal is to have at least 30 people to comment on certain articles and posts that need it.

There'll be a 1000 NXT bounty for every 20th SWARM you participate in.

All you need to do is send me an email at [email protected] so I get your email in my contacts which will make it a lot easier to send out calls for SWARMing.

The way it'll work is very simple, I will simply send out a chainmail to the SWARMers with instructions on what we need a comment/upvote on, then after you have done so, just let me know by sending a quick reply back where you provide the username you used so I can keep track.
When you have participated in 10 such swarms you will get 500NXT and then another 500NXT after the next 10 swarms.

Doge is quite good at swarming and their tech is well... ok, I'll be polite.  Imagine what we could do with 30 active people pushing initiatives with the Nxt eco-system as our base? This is important, Uniqueorn is 100% correct.

Somebody wiped out the Google doc:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AuputZyRQ5-5dFY4RlBTdFJWWnhTRUp3SWdiMlBpb3c&usp=drive_web#gid=0

** Fixed **

No worries, I'll add back the email addresses in a minute.  It's amazing how childish some communities are... unreal.

Once we get enough swarmers. we'll have private lists as well as the public requests. It's impossible to slow down the momentum of Nxt, this isn't my first dance.

I would cap funding at 3 people (personally).  If others want to assist, that's fantastic.  The core 3 should have very distinct roles which translates to deliverables.
that's right, most people would like to help with something, but also spend time there by their own.. It is nice to have at least some numbers and none numbers that we had yesterday or without these conference lists

I will be at the NY conference in April, although on someone else's dime, so I can't commit to pure NXT advocacy while I'm there, but would definitely want to meet any community members who do attend.

Anyone here with math background, who could help understand a complex paper? Smiley

I'm a math professor in the real life, but wouldn't dare to review this one.  Smiley

You really need a specialist in cryptography to understand such a thing...

I always liked the idea, but the problem might be that users will pick those combinations that are easier to remember and there goes your entropy.

That's why we need PBKDF2 in addition to strong pass gen.

So users have freedom - either words or crazypass.

ANNOUNCEMENT  Nxt Net Application http://95.85.8.113:9000/nxtnet

P.S. I'm surprised nobody tried to upload a torrent file; I recall someone wanted this feature very much.

I think its cause no one got how to do.
With an step by step how to it would get more drive...

Let me explain then.

1. Download torrent file; you need to convert it to the magnet link to publish (will take <1min).
2. Go to the app page: http://95.85.8.113:9000/nxtnet
3. Go to link "torrent to magnet link converter (external)".
4. Upload torrent file there, copy the magnet link to clipboard.
5. Return back to the app page.
6. Paste the magnet link to the URI field.
7. Add description.
8. Add it! That's all Smiley

Why dont you just start with delegating 2 people per conference instead of 5?

this is smart.  Since we have so many people lined up for Dallas, I volunteer to wait later this year and go to Las Vegas.

2 people is barely enough unless you don't feel like sleeping for those 2 days. 3 would be much better.

OK lets let rickyjames lead a team of 3 including himself, and I'll lead a team of 3 in vegas?  That sound good?  It seems we need a few more volunteers to fill 3 slots per event...

I agree 3 man team per event should be sufficient. but 5 to 7 is over the top dont you think?

[SWARM] Exchange Push

Team,

It's time to let the exchanges know it's time to add Nxt. Please do the following:

1. Visit the Google Doc for a list of exchanges and their respective email addresses

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AuputZyRQ5-5dFY4RlBTdFJWWnhTRUp3SWdiMlBpb3c&usp=sharing#gid=0

2. Email each exchange

- Let them know why you think they should add Nxt (marketcap, features, community etc..)
- You could easily use the same email for each exchange

3. Record your results here:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AuputZyRQ5-5dFY4RlBTdFJWWnhTRUp3SWdiMlBpb3c&usp=sharing#gid=0

Don't wait for someone else to do the work, let's show the exchanges we're serious about Nxt! - Nikel"

Btw.. while we are hashing out licenses, please make sure to contribute to the exchange swarm. Action, action, action. If everyone that comments here spent 10 minutes on swarm action items, the impact would be huge.

please can you post again where to document the items an progress?
Thx in advance!

Absolutely!

If you are able to work fulltime on NXT, PM me how much NXT it would take and what you will be able to do if you were working fulltime on NXT.

I'm very tempted!

My primary skills are math and teaching. But I'm not in academia. I can code, in C/C++/Python. But I'm a hobbyist coder, I just do my own thing, never worked with a group of people before. I can write, but I'm not formally trained in writing. I can help out with the wiki, keep old articles up to date, write new ones. Samples of my work: http://wiki.nxtcrypto.org/wiki/How-To:VerifySHA256 http://wiki.nxtcrypto.org/wiki/How-To:GenerateStrongPassword

I need to think more about it. What is everyone looking for?

EDIT: I agree, we need a new sweetheart girl to repost  Grin

I disagree with your "How-To:GenerateStrongPassword"

Correctly spelled words (no capitalization or misspelling) are much easier to rememberr and they are stronger password (as long as the words were chosen randomly)

Just 10 random words like this:

"mouse dog right sun computer search pizza run religion water"

correctly spelled with spaces (no caps),  would be much easier to remember and  easy to type. Moreover these kinds of pass phrases are very strong.

Lets assume that these 10 words came from a simple 3000 word dictionary.  Even if the attacker knows all 3000 words in that dictionary, the entropy is still higher than 115 bits

3000^10 = 5.9049e+34

If you make it 12 words, it would be have higher entropy than Ed25519 (public signature system used by Nxt).

I always liked the idea, but the problem might be that users will pick those combinations that are easier to remember and there goes your entropy.

Although currently ranked 4th, Nextcoin (NXT) was not added. Unlike other altcoins, its code is said to be created from scratch and not based on Bitcoin’s. It is possible that its unique architecture poses technical limitations on its addition to VOS, although this remains to be confirmed. There had also been mounting pressure for NXT’s addition to Cryptsy but to no avail, despite Cryptsy’s inclusion of dozens of other more exotic cryptocoins.
