NXT was going to be added, but when I announced it, I got a lot of emails protesting, so it did not go up in the end.

Hi guys. Long time lurker, first time poster.

Your powers of Lurking are impressive indeed!

You're too kind Tongue

I figured it was about time I made a post, at the very least to express how impressed I am with NXT and the community; What Ricky did (And is continuing to do) handling EpicThomas in such a mature manner and everyone compensating the victims as best they could. With the communities efforts and dedication to implement new features and support eachother, how could I not post? Tongue

Spending time here always brings something new to take away and ponder over, and almost always makes me more excited for the future of this coin. I can only hope it continues.

Didn't cryptmarketcap create the site in a response to NXT ? My memory might be failing me, but I have a faint memory of reading that he thought NXT was premined and should not be on coinmarketcap, so he made that site.
May be completely wrong though.

Two screenshots of what I've been busy with for my NXT Solaris client. To be released over the weekend, since I need a rest.

Be careful with the market view, though. You know, it's closed source and I might have something in there that influences the markets in the direction I want...  Wink

Indeed, awesome! But for me as most likely for many other people, a closed source client is a show-stopper.
IMO, you're better off rethinking your license model and work around any constraints of 3rd party software.

This simply looks too promising to not receive the acceptance which apart from the license model this quality work surely deserves.

OK unity sucks.  so I found some instructions to change to gnome

ITS WORSE.  now NOTHING shows on my desktop!  I cannot even find an app list of stuff similar to windows start.

Relax, take a cookie, listen to me Wink

First off, you're right, Unity is the great Satan. But leave GNOME itself out of that judgment. A nicely config'd GNOME handles like a dream.

That stuff you are missing you can get when you open https://extensions.gnome.org/ in a browser. There you can load all kinds of stuff. Or just do it like it's meant to, use the activities menu to start/find stuff (northwest corner / windows key).

ok installed xfce4.  life is good except now when i doubleclick on my symbolic link on my xfce desktop, the java client runs, but I get no console.

Feeling pretty stupid considering BTER has zero.

0.2% trade fees at bter but if you hit my sig, you get 10% discount on all trading fees for 6 months

WTF linux why must you suck so bad?

may i suggest http://distrowatch.com/?newsid=07996 ?

Micro-bounty offer.

Just a small idea for marketing activities at the coming "Inside Bitcoin" events. We could have a win/win lottery for collected business cards. Like every contact who left a card could receive say 20 NXT, and three of them could go up to 100, 500 or even 1000 NXT. This would attract interest.

Now the best proposal on how to arrange this with the least management (emailing back and forth, managing lists etc.) gets 50 NXT.

I too participate in this contest. My idea is that we "create" and top up accounts where the passphrase is their email. And Then we notify them to collect the monies and transfer them somewhere safe.

Unthinkingly I lodged more btc to DGEX without reading up on their new fees. Feeling pretty stupid considering BTER has zero. I have vague memories of the ructions in the thread surrounding the fees which now seem justified. They are exorbitant-1.4% to withdraw btc! How does anyone continue to trade there?

For me it's more of a "The devil you know".

DGEX was the first site i bought nxt on - not too long ago. I stick with it because i've not had any problems other than fee's and perhaps long wait times for withdrawals or deposits.

And really, being the first ever exchange I just accept it; without it's efforts NXT wouldn't be where it is today. Nonetheless i think they seriously need to reconsider their stance here.

Exactly. This software will always been seen as shady if it remains closed source, as it should be if people are following even half intelligent due diligence. It is unacceptable considering what is at stake and no bounties should be given to the project. You could even be 100% honest, but there ends up being critical flaws in your software that expose users to risk/loss. Sorry marcus03. If you have spent any amount of time in the crypto community you should know better.

Totally agree with this. Marcus may have honest intentions, may not. Either way keeping it closed source is not really with the spirit of the community. What marcus has done looks absolutely awesome however.

Killer!

Any news on how to make this kind of open-source for trustfulness?

Define "kind of open source". :-)

It already is partial open source. Full open source is not going to happen.

My take on this: Define how much you are willing to risk based on the level of trust that you have for a software. Only enter account secrets for accounts that have assets that matches your level of trust and accepted risk, e.g. create small asset accounts with another software and only enter secrets for these small stake accounts in my software. You could still use the "view only" functionality for your big stake accounts in my client and of course all other functions that don't require you to enter a secret.

Marcus03, again, this is fantastic!

Will absolutely use it in "view" until it gains trust. Maybe there is enough community movement and funding to rewrite the "offending" libraries. Smiley
Count me in at least for funding. In the meantime i am reading about Qt.

Nxt price now
dgex @9079
bter @8580
Interesting Smiley

so, arbitrage between the 2 is doable?

Yes, but sometimes it's risky. Yesterday I sent Btc from Bter to Dgex and was waiting 4 or 5 hours for the transactions to be processed on Bter side. By the moment money arrived on Dgex the price was 15% higher.

Maybe it's far too late but regarding voting, I'd say tiers of voting,  all accounts that have at least 10 Nxt in them get 1 vote, all above 100 Nxt get 2 votes, all above 1000, get 3 votes,  doesn't need to be those numbers.. but something along those lines.

The thing that amazes me the most about people that scream "Open Source" is that at least 90% wouldn't be able to even read the code.

That's a different story...

Did I miss Nxt being added to this list as one of the "big and important" cryptos?

https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/list-of-all-cryptocoins-134179

Looking at the date I have... :/

It is there for quite some time, but still awesome Smiley

Thought so.

I provided my account ID, email ID and captcha and while clicking submit I am getting the error "Invalid request".
