The last chance to claim unclaimed coins is over.

We have ~13M coins left and they'll be spent for rewards, bounties and development. Now we are running a reward program. I ask the community to post here links (with short description and link to BTT profile) to projects/persons that helped to promote Nxt. Only projects launched before the 3rd of Jan can apply. There will be several categories, BCNext will choose 3 best participants from each category. I'll contact project owners via BTT personal message to get Nxt account ids for reward payments. The 1st place will receive 50'000, 2nd - 30'000 and 3rd - 20'000 NXT.

If I can give a suggestion, you do not need to give away all those NXT at once. By all means reward the community but also keep a good amount held back in my opinion. We've got a long 2014 ahead of us and those funds spent wisely could propel NXT very high up the market cap ranks.

I think we also need in the dev team asap the following: xibeijan, ImmortAlex (part time maybe) and rlh.
Thanks, but I prefer to wait until full sources will be available on github, so I can review commits in my spare time.
Actually I involved in this project being on forum all time Smiley You know, promoting, trolling and so on Smiley
And have two nodes running.

Quick post:

I will give the remaining of the 30K giveaway funds I manage to maco for his project - 15K beforehand and 15K after he finished and the community is satisfied.

The rest posters at the old giveaway thread (not the one Anon manages) will be paid from my pocket. Just give me some time guys cause I run like the coyote atm!

I try to persuade my dev team to post here their CVs for transparency - it seems they don't have any anonymity issues but they are making some second thoughts if this is good for them.
They are not Google's or Microsoft's engineers but they are very professional and in any case who gives a shit about these NSA's show cases...

I hope I will persuade another one to join.

This is obviously not the biggest or most important project there is out there, but it could fit in somewhere here:

There are several projects and software coding plans that are asking for a bounty to support their effort. In addition to the announced video-article-whitepaper bounties I managed to award and pay several unexpected coming to desk contributions from our bounty pool. I also created the big-promotion-based-giveaway supplied by our pool (215K) that I then klee and now probably Anon136 are carrying on.
As of yesterday I assigned 48K from our pool for code review and the last 100K I ll use paying for media coverage.

All of these I said to tell you BCNext, that you can find a lot of these legitimate projects waiting for bounties. 13M is so much of a fund and it can be used to supply the whole purposes of a future Nxt foundation. Please do not distribute it in the childish-contest form of Mastercoin project.
Define projects and place bounties for, or find interesting bounty claims and supply them. This will push things ahead more constructively.
Thank you.

As an expeienced project manager I am offering my service in managing some of the upcoming projects. Smiley

IRL promotion of Nxt

There will be a Bitcoin Conference in February held in Berlin.

http://www.mediabistro.com/insidebitcoins/

I am not from Berlin, but would love to represent Nxt on this venue. I decided to take 3 days off and fly over to Germany and use the opportunity to spread the word, let others know about Nxt and it´s features.
I am sure that we all will benefit from having someone around at a venue like this. I am asking the community to support these efforts by donating to help fund the journey and the purchase of marketing materials like T-Shirts & pendrives with Nxt logo/slogan on them, printing some cool Nxt bills, and so on.

I will document all the expenses and will make the spending of the fund transparent. I will also broadcast from the venue and post some pictures

I received donations from a few persons so far... I am asking community members, escpeially with big stakes to support this and help with funds AND ideas how to make Germany aware of Nxt. Even a couple of hundred Nxts will help.

11433600460445633305

Thank you!

There are conferences like this all around the world. A fund to cover ticket price would be great for people promoting Nxt. I think there will be better ideas, but if not, we could start a pot for this.

Now ** THIS ** is a news story. Once the bounties are given away, the totals need to be sent to mainstream news. You've practically written the story for them.

UNTIE THE FEE FROM FIAT!!!

When decimal places come, I think fees should be done on a curve, starting with a base percentage of the NXT being transferred on the smallest amount possible to transfer and curving down in percentage as the transaction amount increases.  As far as the specific curve, I dont know.  I just dont like the fee being tied to any specific fiat at all.

To do this we would have to reserve the very last few decimal places for fees though.

So for example,
And I am by no means proposing use of these particular numbers (I am just using these particular ones for ease of explanation) dividing NXT down to 8 decimal places, the last 3 would only be used for fees, meaning the smallest amount of NXT that can be transferred is to 5 decimal places, or .00001.
So now, to transfer .00001 NXT (which is the smallest amount that could be transferred in this particular scheme) would cost a fee of, lets say 0.005%  So the total transferred in this case would be .00001005 and I would also suggest a curve to be used to decrease the fee as the amount to be transferred is increased.

This removes all ties to fiat, which I think should be the goal

Quoting this again as I need some more people to test it:

Hi Jean-Luc, CFB and others interested;

I'm ready with that client side implementation of an SHA256 test. I would like some people to test this. I have tested it on the latest Safari, Firefox, and chrome.

As far as I know this will only run in IE10+, earlier versions of IE are not supported.

You can download the files here: http://nxtra.org/update/update.zip

Unzip, then go to your nxt folder and navigate to webapps > root. Paste the two files there.

Now you should be able to open http://localhost:7874/update.html in the browser.

For this test you will always receive the update notice. An older version is hardcoded in. This is to allow for testing of the sha256 hashing function.

Just follow the instructions; download the client, and then drop it over the dropzone to see if it compares to the official release.

If all goes well you should see this screen:

Now also test it with another file, just a simple txt file or another zip, it doesn't matter. Just pretend this is a fake release.

If that goes well, you should see the following:

I hope this will increase the security of everyone, if you have any feedback, please share.

My Nxt ID for donations is: 3209075099254042753 - any donation is appreciated.

Thank you,
Wesley

Some more screenshots:

Initial state when you open the page:

And after you click download, you get to see the dropzone where you have to either drag the downloaded file to, or click to select it from a file dialog.

hey wes  looks great. cool idea.
one suggestion, on the drag here page, maybe make a kind of "landing zone", "x marks the spot" because it didnt seem to want to let me drag to the whole page in chrome, just the green bar. is that right? and then when it didnt let me, it just unzipped the file three more times

but its smart and easy and keep up the good work

OK, I have added the functionality you requested. Redownload: http://nxtra.org/update/update.zip - now you should be able to drop the zip anywhere on the page. Let me know if it doesn't work.

Ok wes it works dropping anywhere but there is a bit of a UI problem

To get to the the test page you NEED to download the link. IF the hashsum doesnt match ( i dragged the file before it had finished downloading) you have to go back and try again from the beginning, and redownload again.

What if there was only one page? Links to the newest files, and after you download, you don't go anywhere, but just drag onto that same page. then when it compares the checksum, it just gives you a report, keeping the links and the drag it here box, so if you grabbed the wrong file, or whatever, it doesn't force you to do it all again?

Maybe post the current SHA256 on the page BEFORE you test, incase people want to test another way, the page could also serve to be a confirmation.

Thanks for your suggestions; another new version: http://nxtra.org/update/update.zip

Now I've not implemented everything. What I've done:

- You can drag and drop as many files as you wish after download. It will re-test every time.
- Added a link in bottom right corner to return to download page.

I'm not showing the hashes on the start page, though that could be added, because I want people to use this tool as their only means of downloading updates. I do not want people downloading on forums any more. So there's no reason for it to be shown beforehand.

Anyway, this will probably be included in the official Nxt client at some point (depending on Jean-Luc), so it makes sense to do it this way. The official way to get your updates.

Of course, jean-luc can change this if he wants to.

Again, thanks for the suggestions.

+1, Cryptsy would make a killing adding Nxt, especially with people's current dislike for Dgex.  Just voted.  Please keep posting every few pages and everyone should vote!
