I have asked several stakeholders to lead a fund-raising but they do not seem to be interested.

What about the nextern-holiday-fund? Is there someone organazing it so he can work on the client full time?
C'mon bitchizzz

I have asked several stakeholders to lead a fund-raising but they do not seem to be interested. I would suggest nextern to sell his full-feature client instead of making it free. That would give him quite a sum for his work.

Nxt won't succeed without a full functioning, user friendly client. I hope everyone is aware of this.

I think this is the wrong way. what we need are clients that fore seamlessly, so even though the chance of winning will be minuscule, there will no no cost to forging, no barrier to entry so people will do it anyway. People pay to play the lottery now don't they? This lottery would be free to play, i think there is definitely some appeal there for users.

BCNext was forced to offer such the way coz small stakeholders won't bother with forging due to very high variation. Less coins forge - cheaper attacks.

I don't really like pools for forging. This is like one step back to centralized system.

I know we need to do something to allow small stakeholders to forge and get fee's everyday, but not this way.
May be protocol-level p2p-pool? It kills both lottery-thing and dispersion, both or nothing  Smiley

Is a regular VPN service enough or do we need to chain proxies?

It's better to ask an old lady to host u own server in her flat for 100$ per month which is half of her pension.

We just topped 3000 members at nextcoin.org .  Not bad for a forum that only opened 30 days ago.

Maybe the announcement for new client releases can be in this thread with the sha256 checksum and a link to those 3 downloads, then someone at admin/forums/www can then update the sites with the sha256 info?

What about putting the sha256 checksum into the block chain? The NXT software could then update itself.

It's already on the blockchain. Jean-Luc updates alias that contains version and checksum. I don't remember its name though.

You can get it here: https://localhost:7875/nxt?requestType=getAliasURI&alias=nrsversion

Id like these people claiming thefts to post their password.  If the account has been emptied please post the password.

Smart!   Wink

LOL but i thought u used tor?  anyway if you ever do get tor set up and feel safe about being anonymous, let me know and i can get you set up to pull whatever data youd like

I don't use Tor. Just 2 chained private proxies, this is much safer.

I am also thinking of some "who is who" section for the Nxt Wiki and these guys would go there just after the core devs Cheesy

Id like to get the API in the wiki.  They've built some impressive functionality into the API.

awesome.  only on 1 of my 9:

root@vps3:~# lynx -dump http://localhost:7874/nxt\?requestType\=getPeer\&peer\=96.236.149.74
{"platform":"?","application":"NRS","weight":0,"state":1,"announcedAddress":"","
downloadedVolume":2234139,"version":"0.4.8","uploadedVolume":36718637426}

U can ban all peers with version = 0.4.8 and platform = ?.

I don't do it coz collect statistics.
