The client seems to eat more and more memory over time. Anyone else noticed that?

same here, i have to write a small script to restart nxt after it crash

yeah, something's got to be done about this.
Although RAM is cheap and getting cheaper, some leaking is going on for sure  Undecided
it's not a problem for home users who just launch, make some payments and close, but for public nodes it is an issue.

You have all been extremely patient and generous with those of us (newbies) trying to learn about Nxt and cryptos in general, so please be patient with another newbie question below.
And I will add that the quality and volume of communication on this site is extraordinarily good. Doing development in the open like this is like inviting people into the kitchen of your restaurant. Average customers may not want to see that kitchen, but legitimate investors absolutely must see the good, the bad, and the ugly of the whole operation. This forum captures the historical development of problems encountered and solved, and will be strong testament to the resilience of this project and the people involved.

Here's the question:
What is your best guess about the specific sources of the DDOS attacks? Organizing them takes time, resources, and cooperation, so how is such an attack justified by those making the effort? What is the ultimate gain for them? (Sorry if this question has already been answered. I read the posts here as much as I can, but haven't hit all 480+ pages.)

Hi, can somebody please point me to the right direction?
I can see a lot of features but I can't find any paper explaining how and when these will be implemented.
In particular:

- Decentralized Marketplace / Auction
- Decentralized Mixing Service
- Decentralized DNS / Alias System (Starting at block 22000)
- Voting

Thanks

Empty node queue!

Just deployed 2 nodes to Brazil! That's node91-node92.

That's 93 nodes in 10 different geographic locations!

Up nxt: awaiting sponsorship of remaining 7 nodes!

Status

Nodes deployed: 92
Vanity nodes deployed: 1
Nodes queued: 0

10 data centers: Atlanta, Dallas, Chicago, Northern VA, Hong Kong, Sydney, London, Toyko, Oregon, Sao Paolo

Sponsorship

Only 8 nodes left for 100 public nodes. To reach the goal of by Jan 3, we need only 22'500 nxt in additional sponsorship! That's just 7.5 nodes worth. Please sponsor now!

We're so close to getting these all online today! Act now to support increased network robustness with global distribution. Please send 3000 nxt to 11243542237777034551 to sponsor a node until the end of March. Vanity nodes are available for 4500 nxt with your own hallmark and name.

Thank you to everyone working so hard to help NXT be a success.

Is the network now stable enough or do you need more nodes? my two nodes run smoothly, but i could setup more.
My two nodes (local PC, not a paid VPS, w/o hallmark) works smooth since 0.4.7e was released. No problems at all!

Let me know Smiley

We can always use more Smiley Especially if we want the network to grow!

Edit: Many thanks to everyone who sets up nodes!

Look forward to the source code and the white paper. When will the white paper be published? It's said that cunicula is writing the white paper, but we don't know how is going on and it seems that cunicula was online six days ago.

Dunno about cunicula. Maybe after the holidays.

Question on forging:

Say I have 100K Nxt. One simple case is to forge to get tx fee in a single account, and the other case is to distribute those 100K Nxt into 5 account with each one 20K Nxt and forge with those 5 account at the same time. So do they have exactly the same probability for forging for a block?

Nxt forging simulates Bitcoin mining, so I think yes, but u should check it. Noone has seen mathematical proof of that yet.

Thanks.

Anyone know why the first transfer from dgex to my account is stuck on 429 confirmations? http://87.230.14.1/nxt/nxt.cgi?action=2000&tra=13264165135217359804

The confirmations count is half-broken I guess.

On my account, it still shows 20 confirmations for an older transaction, while a newer one has hundreds already.

hi,
no it's not broken. before these increasing attacks a cron job refreshed all older transactions
with the actual confirmation count. this needs a complete blockchain scan and takes time,
therefore perfect for a nice nightly cronjob but during these ddos i have stopped this cron to
provide more cpu power for the node and webserver. i will activate this cron as soon the new
vps (next week) is up which has enough power to handle both. the confirmation diff. you see
doesn't has any negative effect on the transaction itself or course. transaction with more than
10 confirmations could be seen as safe and when reached 1440 they are written in stone ;-)
