Ok, I'll see if I can figure a way to time it. I can't refresh 10 non-stop by hand!

Rough assessment is enough

Any ideas how to know when it's downloaded programmatically?

I guess I could get the lastBlock from a known peer and time to that?

I was just refreshing http://mynode.com:7874/nxt?requestType=getState non-stop Smiley

CfB should i add some nodes to my two public nodes for try to let them stay into the correct branch?

We need as many nodes as possible.

It was probably a question on adding anything to web.xml
or not
not sure.

Ah, yes, adding a node can help.

I'm grateful for DGEX, if someone wants to create something better...

A self-signed cert would be better - you do realise that everyone's passwords are being sent in "clear text" over the internet?

(I certainly hope the users of the exchange were not stupid enough to use a password they have ever used elsewhere)

I invested some BTC into something that doesn't seem to be able to find new blocks with an exchange that doesn't even have https - so yes maybe I should not have bothered.

I'm confused, how are the two even remotely related? While I can understand your frustration, the creator of the DGEX exchange is not part of the development team of NXT. As an investor, I get the frustration.. but you just nailed a few squares on:

I'm grateful for DGEX, if someone wants to create something better... fantastic.  As for the blocks issue, CfB is right in the middle of the thread working on resolving the issues.  I rather NXT get it right now than later.  I'm not one of your 'die hards', I'm obviously linked to Peercoin.

I wish you well. As a developer yourself, I would hope you can find the resolve to be patient just a bit longer as the team works through the issues. Thank you kindly.

I would just like to say thanks to "Come from Beyond" for all his efforts and I would also like to say that I really do hope that NXT will succeed.

In the short term the major problem is simply that the client can't get the blockchain (rather a major problem in my opinion but others here don't seem to think that matters).

I will check NXT out again in a few weeks and I hope it will have overcome it's initial problems and "kicked ass".

Best of luck guys!

question about hallmarks

i set up two VPS

a. 1gb not hallmarked https://162.243.214.127:7875/  block #23102
b. 2gb hallmarked https://162.243.214.183:7875/   block #23157

I know a. went on the wrong chain and I'm waiting for it to fix itself.

and b. is showing up in the peers list on my local host, with my proper weight but my local host isn't catching up on blocks.

any ideas?

I have question regarding accessing your balance using a node that someone else runs.

someone posted: https://nextcoin.info:7875/

I can access this node from any computer in the world and check my balance and transfer money, but is it really safe to do so?

regards

could you give an  opinion regarding this, CfB?

People shouldn't trust strangers on the Internet. I don't say that the owner of https://nextcoin.info:7875/ is a bad guy (I believe he is good coz is helping to newbies who have problems with running the client locally). But rules should be followed literally.

yeah , I can't also give 100% security guaranty , because of the server/hacks .. root pass can be brute forced and so on ...

PS: Is it possible to add SSL certificate, so it wont use this warning in the browser ?

Increasing "maxNumberofConnectedPublicPeers" from its default value of "20" might help if you can't get in sync.

It's a double-edged blade. Increased value increases volume of traffic.

Guys, I'd like to know how many of u, who run Nxt on a dynamic IP, have 7874 TCP port open for incoming connections. I'm going to get rid of "myAddress", peers will try to connect back to each other to make Nxt network more symmetrical.

+1
