What r the main differences between Internet 1.0 and 2.0?

Internet 1.0 is "centralised" with a DNS system and the CA cert system and the use of "big servers" to provide "centrally controlled" applications such as say Banking, Google or Facebook.

Internet 2.0 is "decentralised" with no DNS system (the reason I don't like unique aliases) and no centralised CA cert system as well as no centralised big servers running such services.

Governments would prefer us to stick with Internet 1.0 whereas I think it will be "the people" who would prefer to use Internet 2.0 (at least eventually).

You could term it Web 2.0 if you like but I think of it more as Internet 2.0 because I see that *all* the things we do today (such as email, IM, photos, file storage, audio and video) will end up over this new "software infrastructure" (not just what we think of as "web services").

Also I believe that as we look towards things like "mesh nets" the new internet will drift from the "traditional transmission" as well (so not only software but hardware as well).

What do u mean what talk about Internet 2.0? Maybe Web 2.0?

IMO these technologies will be the *backbone* for Internet 2.0 applications (as opposed to the centralised servers and DB storage systems used today).

Now I am hearing more and more the words of Internet2.0, instead of Cpytocurrency2.0. That will change a lots of things and lots of minds.

So "applications" becomes ATs and "DBs" become "parallel storage chains".

Can we say these two things are next biggest things in crypto system world?

Although I do wish "NXT starter" all the best understand that the AT system will allow you to create a crowdfunding AT that requires *zero trust* and *zero commission* (will simply be run by fees).

The plan I have in mind is to make this as simple as a "form that you will fill out" in order to create this AT (so no need to even understand programming at all).

It isn't easy to understand Internet 2.0 as we have all become so used to Internet 1.0 but hopefully people will see that "centralised websites" are going to have to become "a thing of the past".

No probleme with that, i even hope this is our future, i'm ok to become one thing of the past after some month if decentralized web become real.
But for now, NXTstarter can be a nice windows for everyone, where we can see what is going on.

While i think this project is nice, I am a bit skeptic, that your numbers will match reality. Within 2 years 2% of all NXT will have to go through your platform. While possible, i doubt it. Care to convince me?

In the realworld, crowfunding websites are also not very successful.

It is very ambitious plan, but remember all crypto are allowed on this webiste.

Wait a second...  I was looking forward to having to HIRE you (or whomever is qualified) to setup an AT for me!?!    Wink

Information in the digital age "likes to be free" - so any hiring would not be for such trivial tasks but only for construction of entirely *new* ATs (i.e. *skilled work*).

Yeah, that's a vision of how it could be, but I think we are far from that. What do you think?

I think that we are not as far away from this as you might think. Smiley

Change log:

Fractional asset quantities. Enjoy another reset of testnet.

When issuing an asset, the maximum allowed number of digits after the asset
quantity decimal point can be specified as "decimals" parameter (allowed
values 0 to Cool. For example, this would be 2 for a currency like EUR, 8 for
Bitcoin.

Similar to prices, asset quantities can be specified either as quantityQNT,
expressed in the smallest possible quantity unit ("quant") for the specific
asset, or as quantityINT, expressed in whole asset units (which may however
contain a fractional part despite its name).
For example, 9.97 USD can be expressed as either quantityINT="9.97", or
quantityQNT="997", assuming decimals=2 for USD.

JSON responses containing quantities or asset balances are again returned in
both quantityINT and quantityQNT, as strings.

When placing an ask or bid order, if quantityQNT is specified, the price is
interpreted to apply to QNT quantity units (regardless of whether the price
itself was specified in NXT or in NQT). If quantityINT is specified, the
price is interpreted to apply to INT quantity units.
For example, a bid order for quantityQNT="300", priceNXT="2", for asset USD
will be interpreted as $3.00 at 1 cent = 2 NXT, i.e. 200 NXT for one dollar,
600 NXT total.
If parameters are submitted as quantityINT="7", priceNXT="50", the order will
be for $7.00 at 50 NXT for one dollar, 350 NXT total.

Internally order matching and tracking of account asset balances is always
done in quantityQNT. An unfortunate side effect for now is that when placing
an order using quantityINT, the calculated price in NQT for one QNT unit must
be an integer.
So you cannot place an order for quantityINT="1", priceNXT="10.12345678"
(or equivalently priceNQT="1012345678"), because then the price of one
quantityQNT will be 10123456.78 NQT. The priceNXT will have to be either
10.12345600 or 10.12345700. If this is confusing, specify the order as
quantityQNT="100", priceNQT="10123456".

In the short term I can see the appeal - what we are going to end up with in the long term though I think is something rather different to that.

NXTstarter could be a platform to showcase the projects but isn't involved in the payment process.

In the short term I can see the appeal - what we are going to end up with in the long term though I think is something rather different to that.

If you look at things like Bitcloud what I am seeing is that application storage (i.e. the DB) doesn't need to be "on a server in the cloud" but actually in the "blockchain itself" (it is a distributed DB).

Applications themselves would also be stored in the same way - meaning that we "don't need servers running applications" as we do today but instead we just have nodes forging and exchanging storage usage.

So "applications" becomes ATs and "DBs" become "parallel storage chains".

I'm curious about NXT but without diving too deep I just want to ask a couple of questions -

1. Has anyone withdrawn NXT from Cryptsy?? I couldn't and ended up selling it, I saw on Twitter others have had similar problems.
2. Is there a similar feature to the blockchain explorer?

Thanks

cryptsy has their problems..

blockchain explorer here http://87.230.14.1/nxt/nxt.cgi?action=1

1) creating account
- I can generate 12 words or choose a picture from computer
- my pass will be saved into wallet.dat if I want
- it will tell me how to backup my password

2) using account
- it will never ask for my password, if I chose to use wallet.dat
- NXT payments will be able to be approved by a creadit card, by a smartphone, by smart watch via android and other devices. If I go to the shop, I want to buy one apple for 5 Nxt by using my NXT credit card or smart device

Don't forget about ACCOUNT CONTROL! You will have limits on spending Nxt from your accounts, so it is like our credit card limits

THIS! I like these examples of how we can use NXT. I can understand it much better.
