not sure if this got asked.
If i get airdropped on for linking a btc address and i sell all my bytes, but never move my btc, do i get airdropped on for the following rounds? all i saw is that its weighted differently but didnt see if theres a penalty for not hodling.

i think not because airdrop must be proved like yur btc for next round..sorry if i'm not allright dev will correct me.

No, Tony said that the linked bitcoins stay linked for the following rounds (if you don't move them).

airdrop isn't btc..dont feed the confuse..pls

Well, as I understand it, BTC and bytes from the first round are not supposed to be blocked for someone to participate in the distributions. Having only BTC counts for the second round, having only bytes counts too, having both counts obviously.

CryptKeeper, I can't find a reference to what you say about not moving your BTC to be eligible to participate in subsequent rounds, can you (or someone else) point it out please?

should us prouv bbs balance for next round ? or claimers are listed and get airdrop bonus auto ?

Why aren't there any single wallet files like with electrum or other bitcoin wallets which i can save to backup ?
And why is the Seed not enough at all ?

Wallet seed is not enough because private assets, such as blackbytes, are stored only in the wallet (exactly because they are private) and get updated every time you send or receive a private asset.

There are two different things:
Detection: works immediately and rejects the microtransaction if it has more than 2 outputs.
Deduplication: removing of conflicting links happens after both transactions attain more than 10 confirmations.  It will work even after the snapshot and can remove conflicting links created in the last minutes of Dec 24.

Okay, cool then. I don't know why I was under the impression that once the snapshot was taken it would be too late Smiley.

Why would lowering the micropayment be riskier than with the current micropayments? (because they would be easily spotted?)

Because the attack would become cheaper, hence worthwhile.

mmmm, in my opinion the attack is already worthwhile, anyway such an attack won't succeed unless the attackee is not vigilant and doesn't double check their address (as the bot instructs them), so why not lower it if it permits to filter out exchanges addresses at the detection process (not requiring you to check suspect addresses)?

Yes in most standard cases it can't, but exchanges can sign a message with an address holding funds which are not really theirs, can't they?
I contacted most exchanges, and those who replied said they won't.  I have their word on that.

Let's hope they keep their words Smiley.

It was offline for an hour.  It tends to die every other time I step away from the computer that you might think I am the bot Smiley  I'll try to double the memory on the machine, hope it helps.

Okay then. Given what you said about deduplication being done even after the snapshot's taken then the bot dying from time to time is not that big of an issue.

How to make a safe backup of the wallet?

The text in the wallet warns that saving the seed is not enough. See image below.

 https://s15.postimg.org/5kmmtfqzv/Cap1.png

Is that correct? If so, where is the data directory to save?

1.) Search %APPDATA% if on Windows.

2.) Navigate to "local" folder.

3.) Copy and paste byteball folder. (DO NOT DELETE OR MOVE IT.)

4.) Place the byteball folder in selected backup location with the paste function.

 Cool

i found a way , think it's ok

use an app to extract apk file from my android phone of byteball app & then save it on a sd card .....

so saving all app  cannot find how select specific folder ...

So, if I understand it right, I have to link my BTC wallet address until 24.12 to be part of the airdrop?

Yes

Well I send 1 bitcoin to the bot adress, for test purpose (i am parano)

my balance is 1 BTC now. So far so good.

can i still send BTC to this adress to increase the balance?

Thx

Make sure that the bitcoin address you send all your balance to is your own!

Yes, you can still increase your linking balance until xmas day.

Maybe do the signature for every TX again ?
Since only signature can prove you have the private key.

Yes, signed message cannot be abused easily.

This part below is mostly IMHO Smiley
Frankly speaking, I believe having only signature way of linking the Bitcoin address would be just enough. This microtracsaction method only messes things up. If user does not know how to sign, he could learn. If his wallet does not have signing capability, he can move his Bitcoins to a wallet which has that capability. This could be a good reason for someone to educate himself, and prove he really wants to have Byteball! Kind of a PoW - "proof of work", "proof of willingness", "proof of worthiness"  Grin

This is good point and I agree with that. This will largely simplify the process and prove clearly that you must have the private key of the wallet, avoiding people to send micropayments from some common wallets and take the chance.

also vote for signature proof only.

Micro payment has a lot tricky, and not that good enough.

almost every main btc wallet support signature.

Already watching this address.  Looks like it is Bittrex hot wallet but I'm not sure https://www.walletexplorer.com/wallet/015a002330a8624a?from_address=13vHWR3iLsHeYwT42RnuKYNBoVPrKKZgRv.
If somebody did withdrawals from Bittrex and can find this address in history, please confirm.

I confirm, this is Bittrex hot wallet address. As soon as I saw it here, it looked familiar, and I have checked, and indeed some (in fact - most) of my recent withdrawals from Bittrex were sent from that address.

If you link the same Bitcoin address to another Byteball address, the old link is currently removed.  We could blacklist such Bitcoin addresses altogether (i.e. if different Byteball addresses try to link to them) but this might negatively affect blockchain.info users who have constant address by default as far as I know (correct me if I'm wrong).

There can be a simple strict rule - if some address was linked more than once, just block it and have bot report it, so if a legit owner is trying to link it, he could move his coins to another address and link that one.
That will automatically rule out exchange wallets, as there always will be more than one cheater.
