I've suggested it before (and I'm not sure if you've seen it): how about an airdrop to existing Bitcointalk user accounts? You risk airdropping on account farmers, but if it's related to Merit received and account Rank, you can exclude many spammers.
That would be fine if it could be automated.
Scraping the forum can be automated, but it's on the edge of the forum rules if people are required to post anything for an altcoin giveaway. Then again, the Altcoin Bounty thread is used for nothing less than that.

If it's required to have received Merit, the number of qualifying users is limited to just over 10,000.

An ideal solution would be where users can confirm their account ownership to receive their share. Any community input on how to do this?

What happened to the GBYTE trading volume? It dropped under $100k!

How long will Byteball campaign last, tonych? Have you had plan for ending time of Byteball signature campaign? I hope that I can support Byteball through signature campaign as long as possible, might be years (just my hope).
I found the project by chance, spent a lot of time to discover ideas and platforms, technical solutions behind the project and its services. Honestly, this one is one of the most interesting project I have ever seen since the day I joined the forum more than 6 months ago.

tonych, sell rest to byteholders. You could just achieve money fund for further development and marketing.

I think that's a great idea but there's no way it could happen... it would destroy all of Tony's (and by extension the brand/project's?) credibility. He has said from day 1 that 99% of bytes (or somewhere around that amount) will be given away for free.

But it would be interesting if the first decentralised governance action that the Byteball community takes is a referendum on the undistributed bytes. Maybe anyone who has verified their identity and has 100 GBYTE can participate in an https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Exhaustive_ballot to determine which proposal wins.

EDIT - Tony's a smart guy... I'm pretty sure he can see at this point that no matter which decision he makes he's going to piss a meaningful portion of the community off (rightly or wrongly). So at this point I think strategy dictates you ignore the complaints and choose decisions that ensure the network grows. Whatever that means I guess...

Today, we are launching a Telegram bot that allows to pass a small quiz and get a $5.00 worth reward in Bytes.  It is paid from the undistributed funds.

Full story: https://medium.com/byteball/money-for-knowledge-distribution-via-telegram-quiz-bot-2dd400e22997

Telegram bot: @ByteballQuizBot

About 500 users have passed the quiz since launch (despite frequent offs due to bugs, running out of money, running out of daily quota, etc) but I observe some share of fraud too.  It is not very large but concerning.  To reduce the incentive for fraud, the reward will now be reduced to $2.50.

Unfortunately we are getting more cheaters.  Starting now, the reward is further reduced to $0.35.

could you please tell us how you find the cheaters. if i remember it right you wrote that because telegram needs a phonenumber you found a way to reduce cheating.
is there a way to use telegram with fake phonenumbers? or how did they cheat you?

I see that multiple textcoins are claimed to the same address.
They probably buy telegram accounts or virtual phone numbers.
if you want telegram account they are for sale 1000 for $37 (not need to mention where)and the more you buy the cheaper you ca get them
Doubt that is even legit. Any telegram account logged in from a new location requires the code. Do you think the seller logs into each account to give you that code when you ask? lol no. Scrap the telegram and host it on byteball.org site (the quiz) that way you can add your own security measures @TonyCh

Otherwise - quit worrying about cheaters because there will be somebody always here to try and exploit any system. No matter what kind of distribution technique you use, somebody is going to try and find a way to exploit that and claim more then they are allowed. Obviously they can't with a drop to BTC holders but you've stopped that.

Please can we just burn the rest ? The distribution phase needs to end. The thread tells the story, 900 pages about airdrops and how to receive bytes, or in the last fews pages disgruntled sig campaigners bitching about not being selected. What are we going to have, another 900 pages about how to receive free bytes? Its the never ending story. When can we move on and maybe even talk about other things.

Burn them, or one huge airdrop of all the rest to byteholders.

Byteball will have achieved a huge milestone when all the coins are circulating. Lets stop finding ingenious ways to make users be pissed off and dragging this on and on.

Not likely to happen, but a good suggestion none the less. I did a quick spot check of sig campaign applications to see if there is any substance to the complaints, and indeed I too found some problems. Is it really worth the hassle now?

That's a days salary in some countries. They'll probably make the same effort for $0.35, but the real users won't bother for that amount. And that effectively kills this airdrop method.
Exactly. Tony seriously needs to plan and evaluate any distribution method he releases. You can't exactly keep changing everything ONCE YOU'VE ANNOUNCED IT and expect to be taken seriously. Byteball will be so much better when it is decentralised.

Is there a way to detect the IP address of the user and block it once the bot has been used once? It would be an additional layer to discourage the serial test-takers Smiley (not that it can't be worked around).

We don't know their IP.  User information provided by telegram is pretty minimal https://core.telegram.org/bots/api#user

or i am completely uninformed and it is an easy task to get a lot of telegram accounts. this "cryptomoney-world" is really crazy. and it really looks that the only thing that matters is making money.
btw: thank you for the quiz. a learned two new things about bb.

There are some people poor enough in this world that they get their children to perform naked in front of web cams for less money, just to provide food and essentials for their families. If you live on a dollar a day, what would you do for 5x average daily wage?

TonyCH did you miss the posts above detailing valid concerns regarding the bounty campaign managers allocating BB rewards to noobs and low quality posters over known legends that have been supporters of BB for a long time?

Are you investigating these claims??

Will you be firing this bounty manager for unprofessional conduct toward long term BB holders and supporters? not to mention the sloppy way the entire thing is being carried out? I have never seen such a crappy attempt at bounty management. Also i hear he is currently managing several other campaigns... this is making BB look even more of a disaster for confidence than the distributional mess up until this point.

Ignoring glaring issues is not a great way to inspire confidence as I hope you are starting to grasp.

Are you not upset that this self appointed gold medal bounty campaign manager is treating long term BB supporters like this?

I wonder where it was disclosed the amount that yahoo62278 got for running this campaign?

You can find it in the spreadsheet yahoo62278 uses to keep track of the participants and their payments.

PS: Please guys, keep the quoting to a relevant minimum, it just clutters up the thread, and I assume nobody actually reads what has been quoted several times. Thank you.

Can you direct me to where you see yahoo62278 's personal fee for conducting this sig campaign.

I can't see it.

Paid in BTC or BB?

That more or less ends this giveaway. Isn't there any other way to ensure accounts are real?

Starting now, the reward is further reduced to $0.35.

$0.35 seems a bit unfair to the late comers :/.

They probably buy telegram accounts or virtual phone numbers.

or i am completely uninformed and it is an easy task to get a lot of telegram accounts.

I know that you can get disposable phone numbers for free on the net.

I see that multiple textcoins are claimed to the same address.

It's actually almost effortless to create a new address in one's wallet. Interesting to see that people go through the trouble of having multiple Telegram accounts but do not bother with creating multiple addresses. Indeed it will be troublesome to send the bytes address by address to an exchange if they intend to sell them.

Is there a way to detect the IP address of the user and block it once the bot has been used once? It would be an additional layer to discourage the serial test-takers Smiley (not that it can't be worked around).
