"and to allow you to experience its features, we are sending you 72,000,000 Bytes (worth about $30)."
How to get that free 72Mbyte?
The 72MB are for Users that linked new BTC Address for the canceled March Airdrop and got never a airdrop before.
With Announcement of cancel the march airdrop the Transition Bot accepted no new linking addresses so so the user could not just easy install new wallet to get this 72MB
This little Airdrop was only for new Users since the last Airdrop.

That looks a placebo for a small amount people.

Any other great plan to distribute the left coins?

Now developers can access almost any function of headless Byteball node via JSON-RPC https://github.com/byteball/byteballcore/wiki/JSON-RPC-interface

Previously, only a small subset of functions was available through RPC.

This allows to easily integrate BB nodes with programs written in languages other than node.js.

Nice job.

Anyway, totally agree with the change of the symbol from Gbyte to Mbyte.

Setting up a clear schedule for the release of the remaining Byteball is what we need. Also decentralize those witnesses already, if it's even possible.

I wonder what % of new users who linked a BTC balance heard about the cancelled airdrop and deleted Byteball before this happened, thinking that they got screwed after the last-minute cancellation.

I'm guessing it's a fair number of them. We can consider those tokens "burned" from the distribution.

it didn't occur to anyone to give people a little heads up that this was going to happen before the time? weird.

i like surprises. some people don't. everyone prefers some information so they can plan for events like this.

It was to compensate those who might have already incurred costs thinking that an airdrop might take place. Those who didn't take any action yet and found out that the airdrop was cancelled, actually didn't lose anything. As Darkstar said, if you had told people in advance, then there would be hundreds of bitcoin addresses with dust getting linked to Byteball addresses.

It was announced though: https://twitter.com/cryptkeeperbtt/status/966559727982465024

"Planning" for this event would be creating as many Byteball wallets as possible, sending a dust amount to a few hundred Bitcoin addresses, and linking them to farm as many bytes as possible.

Just finished a small airdrop for new users who linked their BTC address for the cancelled March airdrop.
Total 2022 users.
72 MB to each user.
Total distributed amount: 145.584 GB.

They received this text from the retired transition bot:

As you perhaps already know, the March airdrop was cancelled since balance-based airdrops stopped bringing more value as they used to do. Other formats of airdrop will be exercised later in the process.
Additionally, we are shifting our focus to product and business development.

We understand that some of users spent money to link a BTC address for this airdrop, and while the airdrop was clearly indicated as tentative, we still want you to be a user of Byteball platform, and to allow you to experience its features, we are sending you 72,000,000 Bytes (worth about $30).

I do not profit from it but that's really a nice touch  Smiley- well done (The sudden end was a bit abrupt  Wink)

Hey Tonych, thanks for distributing these coins to new users. So how many GBYTE left, 30% sort of? Will you plan other distro models along with cashbacks, verification giveaways and textcoins?

34.5% left.
Yes other methods will be added.

The android wallet has still to be fixed as far as synchronization of blackbytes is concerned. No matter how many times I reinstall it, I never manage to have all blackbytes synchronizing properly on my android multisig wallets.

I'm afraid u will have to start over as syncing indeed never ended for me neither on android device.

Blackbytes syncing for larger amounts too much work for smartphones as they don't have ssd and also don't run full wallet which is better in blackbyte syncing.

Start new full wallet on desktops/laptops that have ssd drive, transfer blackbytes to it (for example your savings wallet).
Create second multi device wallet that also has your phone but keep smaller amount of blackbytes in it (your spending wallet)

Very nice, we all want to stay at the BB platform and hope that new user will join and stay too.
