Hopefully we will see summer price soon. ETH managed to recover nicely and other good alts also recover slowly. I'm accumulating GB slowly right now.

This is the type of accumulation with disposable income. With new rounds of distribution, I don't think Byteball is ready to rally like the other DAG coins. So basically buy every dump with extra money on hand.

For every 16 BTC you receive 0.1 GB (1 gigabyte = 1 billion bytes)

IMO, the 16 BTC to 0.1 GB should be adjusted to encourage more community participation on the airdrop. Rationale is that the btc price rose a lot since the airdrop started.

It is better to buy some Byteballs for the same reward.

The first is by definition not flawed.
I assume its supposed to be friendly to growth - in a very ethical way. Don't ask for details. I have none

When will we be announced the new distribution method?

Is it friendly to the Byteball holders?

An update about future distribution plans.

So far, bytes were mainly distributed via airdrops to holders of BTC and Bytes, and a relatively small portion was distributed through the cashback program.  We started this free distribution with the purpose of getting the currency as wide spread as possible, and while the purpose stays the same, methods can change.  The airdrop method worked well to get the initial user base, but it also proved to be the least efficient in terms of user acquisition cost.

Over the next few months, we'll add more methods of free distribution.  One of them is already being developed, I expect it to be ready in the first half of December.

The new methods are designed to grow our user base faster than the money supply.

....

Sorry for the delay, the new distribution method is ready now but, to make it better noticed, it will be launched (and announced) after the holidays.

That's a great news! I will stay tuned, I can't wait to see which will be the new distribution method. Holidays will be over very soon Smiley

Sweet $700. USD ATH this week?  Smiley

It is already $720 Smiley
1000$ will be an important milestone, fully deserved by all investors who have survived the ice age of this bear market summer.
Would be well deserved for bytes holders. That was a brutal bear market. Somebody proposed new logo concepts: https://www.reddit.com/r/ByteBall/comments/7knhfv/byteball_new_visual_identity_concept/

I like this design Smiley
The design is cool. But it reminds of maidsafe and other perpetual-machine-like projects.

I think it doesn't catch the essence of the project.

What is happening with the distribution/airdrop process ?!
So far it seems airdrop is going ahead. More distribution methods will be announced "after the holidays" - unsure on when Tony plans to announce.

Good point. If holding BTC is not the primary goal it is better to buy GBYTE outright and get 10% bonus in the March distribution.

If I have some BTC is it worth claiming byteball any more?
Depends on your definition of "worth"... as per the byteball homepage, the current payouts for the next Airdrop will be:
For every 16 BTC you receive 0.1 GB (1 gigabyte = 1 billion bytes)

So if you feel that getting (at current exchange rates) ~USD$70 worth of GBYTE for holding ~USD$266,000 of BTC is "worth it"... then yes, it is... Tongue

This is also assuming that the March Airdrop goes ahead... which isn't guaranteed.

I traded for a few byteball because who knows when this coin would experience pump too. A lot of old coins has resurrected recently, I think byteball's time will come too. Hoping a return to my investment.

which is the best way to switch from a full node wallet to a light one - without losing old addresses of course?

If you only have public assets (bytes for instance) then the seed is enough. Save it, uninstall your full wallet, install a light wallet and restore using the seed. You'll get your addresses with their public assets' balances.

If you have private assets (blackbytes for instance) then you'll have to wait for your full wallet to sync, install a(n intermediary) light wallet elsewhere (a different user will do if you want to stay on the same machine) and transfer your blackbytes then your bytes to it. If you want your old addresses back, then after emptying your full wallet, uninstall it, install a light one and recover from the seed. You'll then have to send your assets from your intermediary light wallet to your newly installed light wallet (always leave sending the bytes at the end, because you'll need them for fees to send everything else).

I have started to follow your instructions, but then I have read something which suggested that by restoring the wallet from seed I would also lose my multisignature wallets. Is that true?

The first is by definition not flawed.
People say all kinds of things about DeepOnion, but the creative people are there and contribute their thing. I can only imagine where Byteball could go if similar input of very talented supporters would be used to further the Byteball project.

It just needs to catch some wind....  Roll Eyes

The wait for Byteball to catch some wind has been quite long. We have seen coins with no real underlying features being caught in pumps and become worth billions of dollars, while Byteball remains flat. Byteball has now slipped to below 60 in the list of cryptocurrencies, while I think it definitely should be in the top 20, if not in the top 10.

Weird, isn't it? The cognitive dissonance is incredible. Than again crypto is good with cognitive dissonance...

Byteball is however slowly managing to make people aware of its existance. Will it catch sunlight soon? I would prefer it. Will Byteball still be here in 3 years, in 5 or 10?
Yes, yes, yes.
