Zimbabwe team is weak in batting and bowling. The Zimbabwean team has already come into this new season and they are not performing well with the Sri Lankan team. This match was repeatedly stopped due to rain, due to which the Zimbabwean team did not perform well not only for this match. The few T20I and ODI match performances with Sri Lanka in the past have been poor in almost all matches. As Zimbabwe lost all wickets at 97 runs, they could not rely on any player to hold the wickets patiently.
I agree with you that the Zimbabwe team is having a hard time with batting and bowling. The recent match against Sri Lanka showed that they are very weak in batting and bowling. The fact is that Zimbabwe lost all their wickets at only 97 runs shows that their batting lineup lacks stability and patience. It's really important for the team to fix these weaknesses and build a stronger and tougher squad so they can do better in future matches. They can be good in both if they practice more.
Zimbabwe has been trying for a long time but with no positive results rather they are getting worse with time. If the player is not good then of course it is the responsibility of the board to adopt new players but that is not very effective. Because of which it has to be said that their country's cricket is almost dying. If this situation continues there will be a general loss of interest in cricket and the sustainability of their cricket may also be in jeopardy. What I have said before is that the cricket board and the government as well as the ICC should come forward and help. They identify where the main problem lies and take necessary measures to solve it.

Yesterday was the third ODI match between Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka. Yesterday's match was set to be played in Colombo and everybody knew Colombo's weather so of course also in yesterday's match Colombo weather see their work.

The rain happened in yesterday's match which is why they managed the overs and turned ODI into a T20. They gave 27 overs to both teams but Zimbabwe was all out on 22 overs then the Sri Lankan team chased the target in 16 overs. By the way, the target was too low so they should chased it in under 13 overs, but they chased it in 16 overs.

Srilanka won this series easily with 2-0. It could have been easily 3-0 win but the first T20 match was not completed and was drawn. Now after two days we will see the T20 series between the two teams. I hope Zimbabwe will be able to perform better to that we may see some competitive matches between the two teams.

Performance from Zimbabwe was horrible. Even with all the interruption and all other things they definitely should have done better compared to what they have done in this match. They had only given a target of 97 to Sri Lanka. What did they expect would happen after that?

Of course, they got destroyed by Sri Lankan batsmen. They simply did not give a big enough target to the Sri Lankan team. The bowlers of Zimbabwe had nothing to defend. So the result was expected. Srilanka was able to win both of the matches that were played and had results.

Next is the t20 series between these two teams and I think Zimbabwe might have a better chance in the shortest format. Might actually get a win because the t20 format is pretty unpredictable at times.

op You are right the way Zimbabwe team is performing against Sri Lanka if they perform like this then their cricket team will not improve much in future. That's because Zimbabwe bowled fairly well in the second one-day match, their batting was poor, if they could have given the target of 230 runs in the second one-day match, they would have easily won the second one-day match. In the third ODI match, Zimbabwe's batting failure again resulted in the Zimbabwean team being bowled out for just 97 runs. The way the Zimbabwean team is performing against Sri Lanka, they need to focus on their batting otherwise they will not improve much in their cricket team in the future.

I don't think this is hard luck now Zimbabwe is down and out of the game due to their performance and quality they fail to adopt changes which must for having better results in this game and their internal politics and poor system also not helpful for them to have anything positive their best era was 1999 while they have too many quality players but these all gone due to political instability, and now they are not able to compete with associate countries as well.

In African region, we have now Namibia and Uganda as new better teams with Zimbabwe and Kenya lost their chances but good thing happening, they are doing good and having good improvement in this continent with few more teams are coming and taking their chances, but soccer is still there no 1 sport.

Internal politics and corruptions completely kills the cricket in Zimbabwe and now most chances we will have no good future for them like we have for the West Indies but here one advantage is going with West Indies they are producing good individuals which are performing in leagues and have good income but in case of Zimbabwe this luxury is not available they need to work on domestic if they want to have something positive.
Zimbabwe were lucky rain allow them to end this ODI series with the result of 2–0 and now if rain will help them again then have chance for avoiding clean sweep otherwise Sri Lanka will be given them tough lesson even they are also going down in performance and quality.

Yeah.. one positive thing about West Indies is that they produce T20 specialists who are in high demand in various T20 leagues across the world. But nowadays even that is on the decline. Previously West Indian players such as Andre Russell, Kieron Pollard, Darren Bravo, Chris Gayle and Sunil Narine used to dominate the IPL. But now it is the Australians who dominate the IPL teams. There are a few promising younger players, like Nicholas Pooran, Sherfane Rutherford, Jason Holder and Carlos Brathwaite. But if you compare with the previous generation, the difference is quite obvious.

In second ODI Zimbabwe team gave a target of 209 runs and was well defended by there bowlers but Janith Liyanage 95 runs steal the victory from Zimbabwe. The main problem is with Zimbabwe batting, they are too much dependent on players like Sikander Raza. 3rd ODI was a total disaster for Zimbabwe batting lineup as they were restricted to 2 figure target by SL.

Anyway, the ODI series is over and the T20I series will start from Sunday onwards. I don't have much expectation from Zimbabwe. Once their ageing stars retire in 2-3 years from now, this team is going to disintegrate. Among the younger players, only Ryan Burl, Blessing Muzarabani and Richard Ngarava seems to be capable of playing international cricket. The quality of domestic cricket also seems to have gone down. Back in 1990s, Zimbabwe had a high quality domestic cricket structure, although they had only two first class sides.

Zimbabwe batsman could not worked hard and struggle and not make runs.A target of 98 is not a big target.  Their batsmen did not show interest and struggle.  And did not give a difficult target.Sri Lanka bowler bowling very well and get the all wicket and get the easy target.Yes you are right.  Even if the Sri Lankan batsmen don't work and struggle they can score 98 runs in 50 overs. This is a great achievement for the Sri Lankan bowler as he worked hard and struggled to bowl all the Zimbabwe batsmen.if Zimbabwe batsman make 200 run they won the match. Then how well could the Zimbabwe bowlers control the Sri Lankan batsmen. But they did not work hard and struggle and destiny did not support them either.  My congratulations to the Sri Lankan team and may they continue to play like this and win matches.

Zimbabwe chances of getting back into main stream cricket are dying with every game they play. In 3rd ODI they were bowled out for just 97 runs and target was chased comfortably by SL in 17th over for loss of just 2 wickets. Zimbabwe recently failed to qualify for T20I world cup and there recent performance is proof of why they are not able to make it to mega events. They are dependent on few players, if they perform they win else they collapse.

Few big cricketing nations are on decline which is purely their own mistakes because they completely fail to bring required changes even ICC giving them good funds, but they are having nothing to do with this and too much political influence and other domestic issues are creating problems for them currently we have just 5 to 6 countries which are doing better with all others are on fall which is surely not good deal for this game with still time is available for the changes but if someone care about this all.

In this series, we have really pathetic performance from the Sri Lanka which is almost at the verge of collapse like West Indies even Afghanistan is ready to replace them but still we need improvement and better performance which will create good competition in this game in the future.

Well.. I would agree. Most of the teams that are in decline (such as Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe, West Indies and Bangladesh) have cricket boards that are incompetent. The funds that they receive every year from the ICC are not being spent for the growth of cricket in these nations. On the other hand, Afghanistan is doing relatively well, and that is despite the Taliban takeover. Actually the tier-1 full member nations such as Bangladesh should learn something from the Afghanistan cricket board.
No doubt in few things we have to blame these boards but with this all we have no solution for this as well because ICC can't settle things which are creating problems and having missuses of funds as well which is also another problem but due to many factors we are having decline in quality and performance in few countries which is the biggest concern and ICC is also not able to have brought positive changes due to peoples those are involved they also don't care about this all.
But now it's time to bring more countries involved and also having competitions between associate countries which are trying to have improved quality and consistency, hopefully as we will have more countries and better things we will be able to have positive changes in this game.

In the second one-day match between Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe did not start very well after batting first, losing three wickets after only 48 runs, and the Zimbabwean team is under a lot of pressure. Play is suspended due to rain If the field is fit for play after the rain ends then today's match will be abandoned if the field is not played. But even in the second one-day match we did not see a good batting in Zimbabwe because if they could have given a better target in that match then maybe they would have won the second one-day match. Because Zimbabwe bowled better than batting in the second ODI match, Sri Lanka batsmen had to struggle for victory due to their excellent bowling. So if Zimbabwe want to win against Sri Lanka then they have to bat well otherwise they will lose today like the second match.

Zimbabwe's batsmen are in dire straits now. Due to rain, the match will now be played in 27 overs. Zimbabwe need to score at least 150+ target if they want to win. But the performance of Zimbabwe's batsmen today is very bad like in the previous matches. They lost 7 batsmen to collect only 67 runs. There is no experienced batsman at the crease now. It doesn't seem that Zimbabwe will be able to collect even 100 runs today. It is not possible to win against Sri Lanka on such a low target even though the performance of Sri Lankan batsmen is erratic. A target of more than 150 would have given Zimbabwe a slim chance of victory. But they will not be able to collect even 100 runs today.
Yes, you are right, in this last match of this ODI series, the Zimbabwe team surrendered to the bowlers of the Sri Lankan team by collecting 96 runs for all wickets. In the entire game of this match, I saw that the Zimbabwean team turned this match into a disappointing one. The batsmen of the Zimbabwe team have batted so badly that it is a disgrace to the players of the Zimbabwe team. If the batsmen of the Zimbabwe team tried to bat in a strong way. Then this last match could have been a bit interesting. Or perhaps the match would have been enjoyable if the Zimbabwean team had bowled first instead of batting first. In this series, it is clear that the performance of the Zimbabwean team players is gradually going down.

On the other hand, the players of the Pakistan team played brilliantly. In this match Pakistan team players were able to control themselves from the beginning of the game till the end. And Sri Lanka won by 8 wickets against Zimbabwe. The ODI series, winning the series with a three-match win streak, is a great joy for the fans of the Sri Lankan team. But one thing must be said, this low score match in ODIs can never capture the mind of cricket fans.

Zimbabwe have done very poor performance ever in this 3rd ODI, against Sri Lanka vs Zimbabwe match. I expected some more runs might be come from Zimbabwe batsman. I think the reason is Craig Ervine batting cause this man did 82 run from 102 Bowls in 2nd ODI but thsi time he out with zero what effect the whole teams run. Rest of batsman cant manage to do decent score for their team. Wanindu Hasaranga is the killer of this match who got 7 wickets alone. Moreover Kusal Mendis seems he was his full form, made *66 from 51 and played vital role to archive the victory for SL but Wanindu Hasaranga took all credit & got best player fame in the match

The match was has been delay due to rain.Zimbabwe team has played Zimbabwe team was playing quite well in the beginning. After Zimbabwe lost one wicket, their wickets began to fall and the Zambian team was bowled out for 97 runs.Sri Lanka Bowler play very well especially W Hasaranga play excellent prefromance he took 7 wickets by giving 19 run in 5 overs . Now Sri Lanka are playing and Now he has scored 22 runs in 3 overs with the loss of 1 wicket.
Sri Lankan bowlers bowled well today. Wanindu Hasaranga's performance in particular surprised me today. He bowled only 5.5 overs, conceded only 19 runs and took 7 wickets. Because of Hasaranga's excellent bowling, Sri Lanka managed to stop the Zimbabwe team for just 96 runs. Also Kushal Mendis is batting very well today. Mendis unbeaten with 47 runs from 36 balls and Sri Lanka now collect 57 runs. Opener Denial remains unbeaten with just 8 runs from 22 balls. We are enjoying a completely one-sided match today.
26 years old Wanindu Hasaranga who was not available for the first two games of this series due to injury have been amazing this last rain hit match as he takes career best figures of 7 for 19 and completely ruin the Zimbabwean batting which bowled out for the 96 with no batsmen were able to stand and done anything good for his team impressive performance from them with winning this match and series as well but now still it's very long way to go for the Sri Lankan which are having the worst performance in throughout 2023 and having nothing positive in last few years.

In reply Sri Lankan chased this target in just 17 overs as Zimbabwean having nothing to do after bowled out on this target Kusal Mendis play captain inning as they also lost first wicket very quickly but then fight back and have this easy target without any problem.

In the third one-day match between Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka, the Zimbabwean batsmen batted very badly and the Zimbabwean team was bowled out for just 96 runs. We all can see the batting failure of Zimbabwe against Sri Lanka. If the Zimbabwe team could have batted well then they would have easily won against Sri Lanka in the second ODI match. But since the first match Zimbabwe team is suffering from batting failure. In today's match, the Zimbabwe team has batted very badly, Zimbabwe managed to collect only 96 runs in the scheduled 27 overs. Even if the Sri Lankan batsmen play very badly, they will easily win today's match with a target of 97 runs. There is no chance of Zimbabwe winning today's match, Sri Lanka will easily win today's match.

Zimbabwe's performance today was incredibly disappointing. Their batting was poor against Sri Lanka's excellent bowling. They didn't really put up much of a fight. Wanindu Hasaranga's performance was truly exceptional. Despite being out of action for six months, he made a remarkable comeback. He was unstoppable, producing a chain of dismissals that devastated Sri Lanka's batting line-up. With a target of just 97 runs, Sri Lanka are collected fast runs  especially Kushal Mendis, who has  completed his 27th career half-century and played an unbeaten innings of 66 off 51 balls. Sri Lanka won by eight wickets and win the series 2-0.
This series is not to prove who is the better team out of these two, but to prove who is less pathetic compared to the other. Sri Lanka got bowled out for 50 and 55 in ODI matches against India last year, which just showcases the level to which this full member nation has fallen. And they were not that impressive in the previous matches of this series. First match was washed out, and in the second match Sri Lanka won by two wickets, with just one over remaining. Zimbabwe on the other hand, is as pathetic as ever.

Sri Lanka actually performed really well for a change and did what India keeps doing to them usually these days. Hasaranga was absolutely brilliant and probably broke some ODI record thanks to his crazy figures.

Lol. How in the world do some of you make these typos? You just implied that he destroyed his own team.
