It's getting difficult to determine who the better team on ODIs are. New Zealand today had a second defeat against Sri Lanka in their 3 match ODI series which means Sri Lanka have won the series.
Sri Lanka winning the toss made New Zealand bat first. New Zealand had early setbacks but the middle order had turned the games at their favor. 173 for 4 in 36 overs. Which was a good score. But the lower order of New Zealand crumbled like stacked cards and were all out for 209 in 45th over.
The target of 210 should have been an easy one for Sri Lanka but they too struggled chasing it. They were in similar situation but their lower order batsmen kept their nerves and played till the 46th over to win it by 3 wickets.
In the first ODI, it was Kusal Mendis who took the score of Sri Lanka to 324 runs. Once again in today's second ODI against New Zealand, the Sri Lanka team have made a comfortable win with the support from Kusal Mendis. Maybe if his wicket had fallen earlier, surely this match could've been a tough fight for both teams. Particularly the Sri Lanka team could've suffered as the end wickets have begun to fall when Kusal Mendis kept everything in control as he didn't miss the scoring, which kept the pressure of the bottom-order players low. Also, playing on the home field seems to be more advantageous. Maybe the New Zealand team needs to make some arrangements and create different strategies as they're on the losing side after a massive series win against India.
hardluck for New Zealand In 2nd ODi game Sri Lanka team batted and bowled well and restricted New Zealand team on 209 runs Sri Lanka bowlers put high pressure on opposite team from start of the innings. M. Theekshana took three wickets and Asitha Fernando took dangerous wicket of Champan and Jeffrey Vandersay destroyed Sri Lanka's middle order by taking three wickets. Sri Lanka team successfully chased the 210 runs target in 46 overs with loss of seven wicket. K. Mendis and M. Theekshana played more than 50 runs in a winning partnership, which helped their team win the series. K. Mendis played brilliant inning of 74 runs unbeaten while M. Theekshana also played brilliant 27 runs innings. The Sri Lanka team won the 2nd game at Pallekele stadium, which was a great honor for the Sri Lanka team, and they won the series by 2-0.

What the hell 2 nd time New Zealand team failed to beat Sri Lanka team and they lost total 2 odi games consistently. In 2 nd game of ODI New Zealand vs Sri Lanka team, Sri Lanka team won toss and they chose field first and their game was held at  Pallekele International Cricket Stadium. New Zealand team made 209 runs target in 20 overs by losing all wickets. Chapman showed good effort and he made 76 runs in 81 balls and hitted seven 4s and three 6s. Batting lineup effort of New Zealand was useless in both games their batsman always lost quick wickets and created pressure to team and other lineup bowling.
The Sri Lankan team won both the consecutive ODI matches and the reason for this victory is the good performance of the Sri Lankan team. While there is a chance of a draw in a two-match T20 series, it is not possible in a 3-match series. Sri Lanka won the series by winning two matches. In the 1st ODI match, although New Zealand had chances, they lost early wickets to New Zealand team due to good bowling by Sri Lanka. In the second match they lost again. New Zealand played well in 2nd ODI match they almost won but they could not resist only one batsman due to which New Zealand team had to lose that match too. The Sri Lankan team is now ahead of the New Zealand team in all formats of cricket.

If his wicket was dropped in start of his line then definitely Sri Lanka lost this game but they won only by the great effort of Mendis thanks to Mendis. Maheesh also bowled with brilliant effort and he took down 3 wickets in 9.1 overs and have 31 runs. congratulations Sri Lanka team to win the game.

What a remarkable turnaround from Sri Lanka recently. They actually convincingly defeated a strong team like New Zealand in the T20 series followed by the ongoing ODI series though their home turf advantage obviously helped.

They are slowly rising back up from the ashes and I hope they keep improving in this manner to return to their former glory days.

The T20I matches between the Sri Lankan team and the New Zealand team were tied, the T20I match was a 1-1 draw. However, there are two teams that have emerged as heroes, as everyone wants to be on top in terms of performance in a highly competitive game.

But in the end the Sri Lankan team is the real mystery and good performance when it comes to the ODI match. Having won two ODI matches in a row this season, the Sri Lankan team is enjoying a very good performance at the moment. Because every batsman put in serious batting performance and bowling performance to set Sri Lanka on pace for victory.

The second ODI match between Sri Lanka and New Zealand is being played today, with New Zealand batting in the first innings. Although today's match has been reduced to 47 overs due to rain, the New Zealand team did not bat well in today's match. Based on the runs scored in today's match, Sri Lanka can easily achieve this target. Sri Lanka played brilliantly in the first match, so we can expect Sri Lanka to perform well against New Zealand in today's match. Although New Zealand has lost six wickets at the moment, they may not be able to score much more runs at the moment. I think that if New Zealand can play for 47 overs in today's match, they can easily score 230 runs, and if they score runs, Sri Lanka can easily win.
When it come for any team to play any series again SiriLankan team in SiriLanka then definitely results will be much more horrible for opponent beyond thier expectations. It's true that due to spin friendly track they mostly set trap for opponent through his magical spinners and that what exactly they does several time against new Zealand at home ground like recently, they white wash them in test series even new Zealand having full strength squad still they were completely helpless. So once again they get new Zealand at home ground and get a twice lead against them which indicates a victory of them in that series. Now things will be fully focused on thier last match because here they will played thier ordinary game and will try hard Atleast to safe his team dignity from shame of white wash series defeat

I think New Zealand would win this match if their openers would not lose their wickets and at the same time, would not waste a lot of balls. Their top order was the main reason for their loss.

Will Young was playing well and he was trying to make runs and try to give s a good start to the team but Tim Robinson lost his wicket in the start but Will Young was trying to avoid it but after Tim Robinson, the worst batsmen came, Henry Nicholls who played 23 balls and made just 8 runs, he was the player who wasted a lot of balls. And due to the pressure, Will Young also has not score good as much as he used the balls.

I would not call it a hard luck for the New Zealand team because they did not bat well in the first place. This was an ODI match and making only 209 runs was never going to be enough. Yes a few players played well like Mark Chapman made 79 and Mitchell Hay made 49 but there were 7 batsmen from the NZ side who did not cross the 10 runs individually. So i don't think NZ can blame the bowlers for not defending this small total.

Although Sri Lanka was losing continuous wickets but still they managed to reach the target. Kusal Mendis remained not out on 74 and he was the player of the match as he did stumping twice in this match.

Sri Lanka reach quite near to emerge victory in second one day match of competition New Zealand touring to Sri Lanka and both squads were also participated in T20 format before joining one day competition. Because of Interruption of rain match overs were reduced to 47 and New Zealand squad one more time displayed bad performance 209 scores as a defending was not a big deal and also not hard to achieve this 209 scores in one day competition (means 47 overs) this moment Sri lanka squad need 15 scores to emerge victory off 30 deliveries quite simple to achieve with remaining two wickets to play. Zero possibility for New Zealand squad to win and highly chance lose this competition they faced a defeat in first match and now they will face another lost today. Jeffrey Vandersay and Maheesh Theekshana bowlers of Sri Lanka squad expressed their outstanding strength against the batter of Sri lanka squad and both cleared out 3 and 3 wickets respectively.

We are not seeing New Zealand perform well in this series. In the first match, New Zealand's bowlers were not able to bowl well. As a result, Sri Lanka was able to score a huge total of 324. Along with the bowlers, the batting of New Zealand's batsmen was also quite weak. That is why the New Zealand team was defeated by a big margin.

Like the first match, New Zealand's overall performance was very weak in the second match as well. We did not see good batting from New Zealand's batsmen. New Zealand was able to score only 209 runs in 47 overs. We cannot call this a big target. The batsmen were not able to bat well, and at the same time, the performance of the bowlers was also not as good as expected.

Sri Lanka was able to win the match due to the responsible batting of Kusal Mendis. Sri Lanka lost their four wickets for only 65 runs. Kusal Mendis batted very carefully and remained at the crease till the end. Kusal Mendis was unbeaten after scoring 74 runs.

Sri Lanka already won the match. But everyone should give credit to the lower middle-order batters. These 22, 18, and 27 runs helped Sri Lanka secure this match. Look how steady they were with the bat. Only Dunith Wellalage played with over a 100 strike rate and two other lower middle-order batters played with around 60 strike rates. Which actually proves that they were defending well.

To be honest, most teams do not really expect to win the match when they lose their first five wickets before scoring a hundred runs. They had another five wickets in hand and they had to score another hundred but with lower middle-order batters. Fortunately, Sri Lanka managed to win the match by three wickets.

It is very surprising that a few days ago India was whitewashed by New Zealand in the Test at the Indian venue while the ODI series with Sri Lanka is being whitewashed. New Zealand especially got all out for 209 runs in the second ODI match but 209 runs in ODIs is not enough by any means so New Zealand can't win with this small run target at Sri Lanka's own venue for now.
However, I will not say that Sri Lanka has performed very well. If New Zealand had given a target of more than 250 runs and if Kushal Mendis had not played an important innings of 74 runs in yesterday's match, it might not have been possible for Sri Lanka to win the match.
But unfortunately, New Zealand lost yesterday's match and lost the series, that is, yesterday's match was the series deciding match in the three-match ODI series. But now all that remains to be seen is the possibility of New Zealand losing all three matches in the ODI series.
India recent Test loss to New Zealand at home was surprise but New Zealand struggles in ODI series against Sri Lanka are just as surprising. In second ODI New Zealand only scored 209 runs which was not enough. Sri Lanka won mainly because of Kushal Mendis important 74 runs. Although Sri Lanka has not played exceptionally well New Zealand failure to set competitive target has cost them series. Now everyone focus shifts to final ODI where New Zealand risks losing all three matches. So let's see what will the New Zealand do? I hope they will make a good comeback. And win the last ODI.

The Sri Lankan team had the best performance in this match, with Kushal Mendis winning for only one player. Kushal Mendis stayed on for a long time to give his team the win, with just one over to spare here, if the New Zealand players could have put in a good bowling performance then this match would definitely have been a win.
But I can see New Zealand losing this match due to weakness of attacking batsmen. The top batsmen in the batting list did not perform well, but Kushal Mendis was no stranger to Sri Lanka's top batsmen and scored 74 runs.

But from this side it seems that the Sri Lankan team is currently under pressure by the New Zealand bowlers and most of the good batsmen in their top order are already out. I don't know how long Kusal Mendis can sustain himself. The required runrate was not very high unless they could have sustained their 5 wickets to 150 runs. If Kusal Mendis can survive till last then Sri Lanka can win the match as they need only 80 runs from 96 balls.
As I said that if Kusal Mendis can survive till last then Sri Lanka can win the match and this is what happened at here.
This is really outstanding come back from the Sri Lanka team. Without saying Sri Lankan team here if I just say that there was a great comeback from Kusal Mendis as other Sri Lankan batsmen did not do well in this match. Although Kusal Mendis's strike rate was below average in this match, I think if he had not played an innings of 74 runs for 102 runs, the Sri Lankan team would have lost this match and tied this ODI series 1-1. Anyway, the match was pretty entertaining and I think most of the betters won their bets now.

Once again in today's second ODI against New Zealand, the Sri Lanka team have made a comfortable win with the support from Kusal Mendis.

A great win for Sri Lanka. This team has improved very quickly. Sri Lanka's performance in today's match will surely set their standards in any tournament. A brilliant performance by Kusal Mendis helped the team to win the match. He batted very cautiously throughout the match and did not see him play aggressively even when he came very close to victory. That is, he was very responsible for ensuring the victory of the team. Despite his power, he did not take risks, which is one of the greatest qualities of a player. That is why he also regarded as the player of the match. New Zealand did not do well from the beginning of today's match they lost their wickets quickly from the beginning and came to the end they could not bat the whole over otherwise the team's score would have increased.

Sri Lanka will be the best in this series based on their performance in the first match against New Zealand. When the team has recovered from a loss like in today's match, it is certain that the Sri Lankan team will do well in the rest of the matches as well.

New Zealand bowlers are not able to take the wicket of Kusal Mendis. And I agree with you that if Kusal Mendis can stay at the crease, Sri Lanka has the most chance of winning. Very experienced batsman Kusal Mendis. And Kusal Mendis has the ability to play big innings at the moment when the team needs it. Already. Kusal Mendis is unbeaten after collecting 49 runs from 83 balls.

Sri Lanka lost the fifth wicket for 93 runs. And Sri Lanka lost their sixth wicket for 132 runs. Sri Lanka managed to collect 155 runs at the end of 34 overs. Sri Lankan batsmen will have to collect 55 runs from 78 balls to win. Although the pitch is not batting friendly. Even then, collecting 55 runs from 78 balls is not a difficult task. If Sri Lankan batsmen can stay at the crease, they will be able to win this match.
Yes, You are right The pitch is not easy for batsmen. New Zealand, all out at 209 runs in the 45th over, didn't play the complete overs. Sri Lanka's current score is 164 runs in a loss of 7 wickets in 37 overs. Sri lanka needs 46 runs from 60 balls to win this match. From Sri Lanka Kusal Mendis playing very well scored a well deserved half century and currently batting at 56 runs from 87 balls Sri lanka all hopes to this man if they survive few more Sri Lanka may closed to winning runs. While New Zealand only needs to pick the most important wickets of Kausal mendis if they want to win this match and level the series.

New Zealand bowlers failed to take the wicket of Kusal Mendis. And because of Kusal Mendis' unbeaten innings, Sri Lanka was able to reach the target of victory. I expected better bowling from New Zealand bowlers. Since the pitch was bowling friendly. But New Zealand bowlers failed to bowl as expected today too. So like the first match, New Zealand team faced defeat in the second match too.

Kusal Mendis was able to play an unbeaten innings of 74 runs. Today Sri Lanka lost wickets very quickly. But from the beginning of the innings, Kusal Mendis batted very carefully. Sri Lanka was able to win because of Kusal Mendis' responsible batting.

Sri Lanka won the first two matches of the three-match series. Sri Lanka is very strong at home ground. New Zealand could not take any advantage on this pitch. Especially the performance of New Zealand bowlers was weak in both matches.

Surprised to see Sri Lanka struggling against the Kiwis when the target is so freaking small. All the New Zealand bowlers are bowling well currently and it looks like they might end up winning this one.

The final ODI of this series will probably end up becoming the series decider between both teams. Let's see what happens.
Pallekele pitch is helpful for spinners and today game is also completely controlled by both teams spinners we have good response from Kiwi spinners after Sri Lankan spinners restricted New Zealand at 209 in 47 overs things are pretty interesting as now we are heading for last overs of match but here we have advantage for Sri Lanka as they have Kusal Mendis and Maheesh Theekshana who score 47 runs for 8th wicket partnership and give their team win in this second ODI of the series as well win into series.

I was not expecting resistance from New Zealand like this because 208 were looking not good target but New Zealand spinners which are doing good work in last few months done good work and not allowed Sri Lankan batsmen to play freely in these overcast conditions but Sri Lanka surely better team in last few months which manage to win this game and another series.

Sri Lanka needs only 36 runs from 42 balls at this moment. Sri Lanka has already lost 7 wickets. And has been able to collect 174 runs. Sri Lankan batsmen will have to collect more than 5 runs per over on average. And this is a very difficult task at this moment. Because Sri Lanka has already lost seven important wickets.

However, Kusal mendis has been at the crease for a long time. Kusal mendis is still unbeaten after collecting 60 runs. New Zealand bowlers are not able to take this important wicket. If this wicket could be taken quickly, New Zealand would have been able to win this match by a big margin. If Mendis stays at the crease, it will definitely become more difficult for New Zealand to win the match.
