Since the match between Ireland and Bangladesh was washed out yesterday, South Africa has qualified directly to the ODI World Cup of 2023. Ireland needed 30 points from 3 matches, but since the first match was washed out, they received only 5 points from that one. Anyway, I am glad that the most deserving team entered the world cup. It would have been difficult to imagine a ODI World Cup without South Africa. Ireland now needs to participate in the World Cup Qualifier tournament, in order to gain entry to the main tournament.
Ireland suffered the most as the match was abandoned due to rain. Virtually every match in the series was a final for Ireland. Ireland had no choice but to upset Bangladesh to get a direct place in this year's World Cup held in India. However, Ireland's hopes were dashed after yesterday's match was abandoned. Ireland scored 65 runs for the loss of 3 wickets in 16.3 overs to meet Bangladesh's target of 247 runs at Chelmsford. Ireland did not field due to rain, after which the match was declared abandoned at 12 noon Bangladesh time. As a result, South Africa overcame Ireland and qualified directly for the World Cup. Now Ireland have to play the qualifiers to get to the World Cup and then go to the World Cup. So Ireland suffered the most by abandoning this match.
It is awful to learn that Ireland was the team to suffer the most as a result of the match abandonment. Every match in the series was essentially a final for Ireland thus there was a lot of pressure on the team to win and guarantee a spot in the World Cup. Ireland was forced to play the qualifiers because the weather had other ideas and the match had to be called off. A talented team losing out on a direct qualification due to unforeseen circumstances is always disappointing. However, Ireland still has a chance to qualify for the World Cup so it is critical for them to remain positive and give it their all in the remaining matches.
If important matches are interrupted due to weather, I think reserve days should be kept for those matches. This should be done for all teams. However, keeping the reserve day is very difficult. Because if a reserve day is kept in a series, there will be a lot of expenses. Moreover, it will not be possible to finish the game in the specified time. But here must ICC should come to a good solution.
If there is an important match for any team then if the ICC can hold a reserve day that will help instill more confidence in cricket. It can be beneficial for all teams.

The overall performance from Bangladesh in the first innings was not good. Ireland did lose quick wickets. That is the reason I say that Ireland was going to lose.

But if Ireland was actually able to hold on to the wickets they might actually have gone very far. But I still highly doubt that Ireland would have actually been able to win. If the match was continued after the rain I am more certain that they wouldn't have been able to win. Because Bangladesh still had Shakib Al Hasan.
I agreed about Bangladesh performance in first ODI of this series because they were in well control and have good chance for taking lead with their performance but sadly rain prevent them from doing this but now after watching this match I have feeling Bangladesh can win this series because they are having well-adjusted for the remaining matches if we have no more rains in this series with most chances things can go for the draw of the series as well because rains are having their own agenda which is not controlled by anyone.
Even Bangladesh top order struggle but experienced middle order done good job at the end, and they were able to score 246 runs with after setting this target their bowlers were also done good job and take few early wickets which were helpful for them in this first match.

Its good for Ireland that match ended in a draw as they were not in a good position to win the game. Bangladesh lost 3 wickets in 12 overs for score of 51 runs but still the middle order helped to take net total to 246. Mushfiqur Rahim was the highest runs scorer from Bangladesh as he scored 61 runs on 70 balls. When match was called off Ireland required 181 runs in 37 balls with 7 wickets left. 2 more matches still to be played, Ireland need to focus both on there batting as well as on bowling.
@MusaPk there’s always a chance that if Tamin sent in the spinners too early and it didn’t rain and on top of that not give them the results they wanted then that move could have backfired on him and that’s why I think he decided to play it safe.
Furthermore Ireland wasn’t in a very bad position too and since the target wasn’t too big I feel that we can’t say with certainty that Bangladesh would have won it and maybe others here feel differently but for me until it’s 100% obvious there’s always a chance for upset especially in cricket.

The first ODI match between Bangladesh vs Ireland was abandoned due to rain. In the second innings, Ireland got a chance to bat only 16.3 overs where they managed to score only 65 runs for the loss of three wickets.

The rain law did not come in handy in this match as the DLS system comes into play only when twenty overs are played in the second innings.

According to the weather forecast yesterday there was a 60 to 70% chance of rain in the stadium area but there was no cloud in the sky and suddenly it started raining. As the weather was forecast, Bangladesh captain Tamim Iqbal should have adopted some technique.
Since Bangladesh had a good start if they had used spinners in most of the overs up to 20 overs then maybe Bangladesh would have won by dls method. But Tamim Iqbal failed to adopt that technique against the Irish. As a result of which one match of the three-match series was abandoned due to rain.

I agree with you, Bangladesh cricket team's collection of 246 in this field is a big deal. Bangladesh cricket team played against New Zealand at Chelmsford in 1999. Bangladesh cricket team against Ireland cricket team in ODI series at Chelmsford ground again after long 24 years. At Chelmsford ground, Bangladesh cricket team played after a long time, but Ireland set a target of 247 runs to the cricket team. Ireland cricket team were put into bat in the second innings chasing a target of 247 runs before the end of 16.3 overs, unfortunately rain hit the match. And the match was abandoned. But until the game is over, it's foolish to speculate on wins and losses

I know there is no point speculating who could have win the match in case the match was not abandoned but since Bangladesh batted first and have already put runs on the board, i rekon that they would have better chances of winning that match and they would consider them unlucky as the rain hit the match and the play was not possible.

The middle and lower order from Bangladesh played very well and due to this , they managed to score a good reasonable score. Mushfiqur Rahim scored the highest 61 runs among all the batsmen.

Ireland - Bangladesh

I am looking forward to Bangladesh vs Ireland series. Today the first ODI match of the series is going to be played in Chelmsford. The Bangladesh team is in very good form now in the ODI format. In the last two series, Bangladesh dominated and won against England and Ireland. The players of Bangladesh did a great performance. However, series two was Bangladesh's home match. And the Bangladesh team at home is always strong. However, this series against Ireland is going to be held in England. England pitches generally provide more support to pace bowlers. And so I am waiting to see how Bangladesh players perform on such a pitch.
Despite some early setbacks Bangladesh put up a decent total of 246/9 thanks to the impressive performances of Mushfiqur Rahim 61 runs and Nazmul Hasan Shanto 44 runs. Ireland needs 220 runs in 45 overs with 8 wickets in hand the match is still up for grabs. It will be interesting to see how Ireland's batsmen handle the pressure of the chase. Bangladesh's bowling department will have a crucial role to play in the rest of the match H. Muhmad and S. Islam pick up 2 wickets. Bangladesh may win this match their chances are 80%. Overall it promises to be an exciting match of cricket. The current score of Ireland is 27 runs lost of 2 wickets in 5.1 Overs.

I would not call a target of 247 runs a bad target. Because the bowling line-up of Bangladesh is now strong enough. But if Bangladesh would have been able to give a target of more than 280 then they would have been able to dominate the match. If Ireland's batsmen are able to bat responsibly and stay at the crease, they can win today's match.
At the end of 10 overs, Ireland's batsmen collected only 39 runs. But they lost two crucial wickets to Paul Stirling and Balbirnie. Tector and DOheny are now at the crease. If the Bangladesh bowlers pick Tector's wicket quickly, I guess Bangladesh will win for sure.

Cambodia has won the gold medal in men's section of South East Asian Games 50-over cricket competition. They defeated Malaysia in the finals. Cambodia had no nationals playing for them, while a few first class players from India and Pakistan were present. Malaysia had a 100% native squad. Thailand finished with the bronze medal, after they defeated Indonesia in the 3rd place playoff (both the teams had 100% native squads). In the women's competition, Thailand and Indonesia have moved to the finals and Malaysia and Cambodia have progressed to the 3rd place playoff.

Due to the abandonment of this match, Sri Lanka qualified directly for the World Cup. The equation was that if Ireland could win all three of the three match ODI series then Ireland would have directly qualified for the World Cup and if Ireland had lost any match in the series then Sri Lanka would have directly qualified for the World Cup as the match was abandoned due to rain Bangladesh Ireland had one of the abandoned matches.
Despite not getting the advantage, Sri Lanka rightly got the advantage of this abandoned match. That is, Sri Lanka directly qualified for the 2023 World Cup.

There was no point in calling up Josh Little from the IPL, where he was performing really well. After a lot of effort, he got a contract of $536,000 per year with Gujarat Titans (Irish contract is worth less than one-tenth of that amount) and the Irish Cricket board asked him to leave IPL mid-way in order to play against Bangladesh. Little may lose around 30% of his contracted amount (he will be missing 4 out of 14 matches) and in the end no one benefitted from this. Ireland could not qualify for the World Cup, and Little lost a large part of his IPL salary.

It's true that South Africa are deserving of a spot in the tournament, but it wasn't quite the ideal way for them to qualify. The first match between Bangladesh and Ireland was rained out, which stands South Africa qualified has secured a place in the 2023 ODI World Cup. Some might argue, but it's not often that the Proteas benefit from rain like this before. However, it would have been unlikely for Ireland to win all three games, and make the direct qualification.

For South Africa, things got complicated after they cancelled the 3-match ODI series against Australia (because SA20 league was scheduled at the same time). Don't know how many points they would have got from these matches it they actually went ahead, but in the end they really had to work hard in order to get a direct qualification slot. And there was a real danger of African continent being unrepresented at the ODI World Cup of 2023. Anyway, it was bad news for Ireland. Now they need to make sure that they finish at top-2 in the qualifier tournament. It will be hard, because Sri Lanka and West Indies are the favorites.

Ireland scored 65 runs in 16.3 overs with 3 wickets. The match has been stopped due to rain. Stephen Doheny was out for 17 runs off 39 balls. Paul Shirling is out for 15 runs off 10 balls. Andrew Balbirnie is out for 5 runs off 9 balls. Harry Techter is unbeaten on 21 runs off 37 balls. Lorcan Tucker was unbeaten with 2 runs from 4 balls. Bangladesh bowled very well, Taijul Islam got 1 wicket with 5 runs in 2 overs. Hasan Mahmud took one wicket with 21 runs in 5 overs. Shoriful Islam took 1 wicket with 21 runs in 5 overs.
In Bangladesh and Ireland series. Bangladesh team is looking more strong as compare to Ireland team. As in the first match we can see Bangladesh made 246 runs and this is an average target but Ireland is looking more weak. But we can't decide now. At this time rain is interfering so the match stopped.
Yes it must be believed because Bangladesh is much stronger than Ireland. Because we have seen from test matches and T20 matches that Bangladesh is much stronger than Ireland. Seeing Bangladesh's two wickets fall in the first over, I thought they wouldn't be able to score too many runs. But Bangladesh managed to score 246 runs by playing the ball till 50 overs. Meanwhile, Ireland were under a lot of pressure after losing 3 wickets early on. Had the match not been abandoned due to rain, Bangladesh would have won this match. Because in terms of performance, Ireland was under a lot of pressure.
Despite England's pitch not being favor for Bangladesh, the runs they scored that was much worthy. Ireland more likely to lose the match. Due to rain the match is declared by no result. I think rain gave away a good chance for Ireland. In that match, Ireland lost 3 wickets in just 16.3 overs, so if they batted a little longer, they could have lost more wickets. However, with only two matches left in the series, it remains to be seen what happens there. Either team needs to win both matches to win the series.

I would not call a target of 247 runs a low collection. This is a good enough collection on the pitch at Chelmsford. And Bangladesh's chances of winning were high. Ireland quickly lost three key batsmen in their top order. Ireland's collection was only 65 runs in 16.3 overs. The performance of the Bangladeshi bowlers was very good. Bangladesh would have been able to win the match had it not rained. The series is of three matches. I hope Bangladesh will win the next two matches. Bangladesh team will win the series against Ireland.

As of now, it looks as if Ireland is in trouble. They have lost two of their star batsmen - Paul Stirling and Andy Balbirnie, and they still need more than 200 runs to win. They do have the depth in batting lineup, with Andy McBrine and Mark Adair batting at no.8 and no.9 respectively, but the required run rate is climbing up with every passing over. Stephen Doheny and Harry Tector are batting now, and these two are struggling against the accurate Bangladeshi attack. If Ireland lose this match, then they need to play in the qualifier tournament for the 2023 ODI World Cup.
Ireland collected 64 runs for the loss of 3 wickets. Ireland now needs 184 runs in 34 overs. Ireland has some excellent batsmen in their squad. Tucker and Tector are now batting. These two batsmen are quite experienced. Campher and McBrine are good enough batsmen. So even if Ireland loses by 3 wickets, one should not think that Bangladesh will win this match easily. Bangladesh is likely to be defeated.
But Tamim Iqbal's captaincy seems a bit strange to me. He has yet to use experienced bowlers like Shakib and Miraz in 16 overs. However, maybe Tamim Iqbal has a different plan.

I am sure that Ireland actually got lucky in this match. Because if the match was played till the end they would have lost. But at the same time, I will also say that the performance from Bangladesh was not good as well. Against a weaker opponent like Ireland, they should have scored at least 280. And that's regardless of the conditions. Of course, Bangladesh was not able to even reach 250. I think this type of performance is not going to cut it when they will be playing in the world cup.

I hope Bangladesh will be able to perform well in the world cup considering that they will play at least 9 matches in the world cup. So they will have a good chance of qualifying. The captaincy does look a little weird but I think he was saving the spin bowlers for the middle overs.
We don't know how the match could've turned, based on the Ireland team's performance in the recent test matches I find them unlucky. After early wicket fall, the players stood wicket and avoided the innings loss in the test match against Bangladesh. In that match Tector and Tucker were the players who showed the ability of the team, followed is the performance of McBrine. Even in the ODI similar performance could've happened as the score isn't that high to rise the pressure on the batsman.
