The forum is a birthplace of many gread ideas and funny moments which turned into icons in the crypto world.

i think a banner with some of the most memorable things good or bad could be a better solution than just a logo.

I think a physical coin would make for a great logo. Btalk after all is the home of the physical bitcoin, when Gavin first introduced the idea here - https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/a-real-bitcoin-2537 .

BitBills created the first ever but being that a card wouldn’t make a great logo, what about one of the Casascius coins, which was created based off Gavin’s idea, and first announced/released here on the forum as the first physical btc coin.

I think any of these would be cool (photos are pulled from google, though I know they’ve all been posted here by members at some point) -

But of course it would be even cooler if Theymos were to revive his thought on having a forum specific coin made (which I have some cool ideas for)

Inspired by AnotherAlt, I entered variations of 'Bitcointalk', 'Forum', 'Bitcoin' and 'Logo' into online AI image generators. Here my favourites.
AI is getting better but that is one weird robot skull face, and maybe we can use it for bitcointalk bots and spammers Wink
Some of this logos look like someone on LSD drugs made them, but I don't think AI can be drugged...well maybe faulty code or malware is something like drugs.

You just made a logo for Bitcoin Pizza Day in my opinion instead of creating the forum's Official unofficial forum logo but anyways it is nice. I wouldn't use this as the forum logo. If I can spare some idea then I would just use the old forum logo and just add some designs to make it look like it's been replaced by a new forum logo.

Can anyone make a logo which contain a QR code which will redirect to the official web?

This seems like a good start, i used an automatic tool from https://www.qrcodechimp.com/, and this is the result.

You need to scan it for a few seconds to work.

so the idea did work then! just need to make it more compact to fit as a logo

Thanks for your effort, but I meant something more like what @fillippone mentioned; not really a stylisation of the design, but the design itself.

Here are two versions I came up with in a few minutes of HTML editor. I'm not sure borders are equally spaced or anything, I could only eyeball it.

Maybe someone can make a logo that incorporates this HTML design, because while I know it's just the old SMF software, nowadays this design really sets Bitcointalk apart from any other website.

And what if the bitcoin logo is actually the old SMF design? There is no need to reinvent anything. The look and feel of bitcoinforum has been consistent since inception, becoming the “logo” itself.
That’s also why @theymos never released epochtalk: bitcointalk.org vintage appearance is an asset to the forum!

So, when it comes to my opinion about a Bitcointalk forum logo, I think it will be hard to figure out something that is Bitcoin-related, but doesn't immediately get confused / understood as a Bitcoin or Bitcoin-fork logo.

When I think about a design element that nowadays I only see on Bitcontalk, it's this old-school, plain-HTML table-based layout with the matching gradient behind it.

This seems like a good start, i used an automatic tool from https://www.qrcodechimp.com/, and this is the result.
There is one small problem with this being used as a logo, because it's almost unusable in smaller size, and that is most important thing for logo, to work in all sizes (and colors).
It can work partially, but qr code function won't work for sure.

The holy google said that the minimum size is 2x2 cm, i run a test with this size and didn't worked, but with a 4x4 cm image worked.

But in all seriousness, I do not think the logo should be anything more or less than the original Bitcoin symbol. I think we should preserve the originality.

One night, this whole idea of Bitcointalk logo and bitcointalk token occurred to me. I pondered deeply about it. Finally, I discarded the whole idea. I really think that
    • We don't need any other coin but Bitcoin
    • We don't need any other logo but Bitcoin logo BTC
    • I believe Satoshi created this forum to promote Bitcoin and not to compete with it in any kind or work in isolation. Any of the above can be created in a good faith, but I doubt the future generation will handle it. It may become counter productive to the whole system.

I agree with you, but on the other hand, I don't see anything wrong in having new bitcointalk logo, its true Satoshi created the forum to promote his work, but then, nobody knows if he or they, are still here with us, he or they probably have handed the forum to the bitcoin community and I believe a little upgrade in the logo to something that speaks more or less of what we do here wouldn't be a bad idea.

And speaking of logo, I think the first logo from ibminer would do a great job representing bitcointalk....
Though I think majority of the discussions here are jokes, but if this is to be taken serious, then I would suggest the forum should launch a competition or contest of who would come out with the best and next bitcointalk logo, a thread can be created where contestants can post their work and those who can not participate will vote on their favorite, at the end, the logo with the most votes wins the contest and the creator take the title of "Bitcointalk logo creator De 2nd🥈" Grin

So far there are many sites that can help you generate a QR code that points to the bitcointalk.org site. You can create one with a logo, but you may have to pay a small fee for the service.

Try doing so here, but please verify your own privacy and security if you wish to use this site: https://www.qr-code-generator.com/

Is this purposefully awful? With all the respect.
I was expecting the first page to be filled with slobbering praise, but I'm pleasantly surprised to see the emperor being told he ain't wearin' no fackin' clothes almost immediately.

That's no bitcointalk logo; that's the bitcoin logo tilted and defaced with MS Paint or whatever.  Where's the "cointalk" addition to the BTC, which is what would make it scream "BITCOINTALK" instead of just confusing people?  I read your rationale for what you drew there, Cyrus, but I've never been into modern art and all the nuances baked into the art pieces that aren't obvious to the casual viewer's eyes.  A bitcointalk logo should very clearly represent what the logo stands for, IMO.

That said, I've got no art game and wouldn't even be able to improve upon that....thing.

Can anyone make a logo which contain a QR code which will redirect to the official web?

It references the liberal and hacky BitcoinTalk way, a bold BBCode tag all in a "Magic Internet Money" vibe but in a minimalist way. It's upper left defies the border intentionally, just as Bitcoin.
You could reproduce it by hand and it would mean the same thing - it would actually be cool to see it copied in different ways.
Idea you had for new BitcoinTalk logo is cool but I think it needs more work and refinement.
We have quite a few active designers in forum and they can try making small updates and post designs for voting and feedback.

Here is my quick update of your logo, that was made in few minutes, and I would like to see something like this on t-shirts and hats Wink

If we ever migrate to the new forum software then are we going to change the logo concept again 😉

I would suggest a typographic logo.
A logo is an identity that takes years to build. When I have the name bitcointalk in head, I imagine font-family: Verdana, sans-serif with the text "Bitcoin Forum" as it is now. You can just improve it if you like. Make it just "Bitcoin Talk", or "BitcoinTalk" or "Bitcoin Talk Forum" or "BitcoinTalk Forum" or replace the B with ₿ and keep the rest same. As for tagline you can add "Magic Internet Money" or your do not even need that at all. What I am saying is think something typographic.

That's an error for sure and thanks for calling me to it. It's Cyrus and it would be edited right away.

That makes me curious what Newbies who don't know the history think about this logo. Usually logos have sharp hard lines and give a "professional impression".
This is far from anything professional and although, it depeats all that was to be talked about in the supposed theme but, its way too boring to have that all cramped in one photo. It's more like a meme than a logo but, I'm sure it was done out of enthusiasm for the evolving field and in an attempt to make everything perfect/analytical but sadly, that's not all there is about logos. Having a simple but iconic look goes too. I think we are getting a lot better now.

The reference to Magic Internet Money:
After thinking it over for a day, I now get why you made a logo that looks so ..... let's call it unprofessional. But I don't think the Magic Internet Money image got it's status instantly, and even though it was created long before I joined Bitcoin(talk), I don't think anyone back then would have guessed it's still in use 9 years later.

That makes me curious what Newbies who don't know the history think about this logo. Usually logos have sharp hard lines and give a "professional impression".

I like that. At least it encompasses the "talk" in the forum. For me, that has to show because it's the essential of this forum. @ibminer's sample is also cool (even though it's from way back in 2019) as even quoted here by the same user above. Both logos show relevance to the forum in reference to the "talk" so to say. 👇

    Though, it might be Unofficial but, I naturally thought the forum had a logo of its own. You know how, Web browsers displays some sort of logo or icon to sites. As one of my frequently visited sites, I've got this display fir bitcointalk and bpip respectively;

          1. Bitcointalk Forum    2. Bitcointalk Public Information Project

    Looking at the first for the forum, it's got some cool similarities with what Cyrus has there in OP, except for the dollar strokes and the brackets. These goes for me but, if we are to look at the logos as we have it now on this thread, I would have gone for something like what we have in;

Although, it should be done more nicely but, its signatories comes with some uniqueness to the forum, a discussion bubble and the iconic bitcoin or forum symbol embedded.

I think the logo in the OP is pretty cool if you are going to be selling merchandise with the logo on it. Although if you are releasing the image to the public without copyright, there is not anything to stop anyone from selling similar merchandise at a lower price.

I'm thinking of things like merchandise and maybe even a BitcoinTalk physical coin, as was discussed in the BitcoinTalkShow thread, etc.
I guess the idea of merchandise would be nice in some way and i would for sure try to get something or the physical coin  Smiley
Also i like the logo , maybe add Bitcointalk in a small font to it at the bottom , or maybe start a contest for it and i think there would be coming some nice ideas.
We have some great artists here on the forum.

(sorry, LoyceV, I'm not so good in MSPaint)
Does this officially unofficially make suchmoon an imposter?

MehMeh painted a new Bitcoin-logo artwork recently, but it's not finished yet. It could actually serve as a logo. A logo created by someone much younger than Bitcoin Cheesy

Is this purposefully awful? With all the respect.
It's part of the design! In hindsight, should've posted it April 1t for extra giggles  Cheesy
The reference to Magic Internet Money:

Here's an article with the story behind it: https://paulbars.medium.com/magic-internet-money-how-a-reddit-ad-made-bitcoin-hit-1000-and-inspired-south-parks-art-b414ec7a5598

Not gonna lie, this reminds me of the Bitcoin Cash logo.
I thought Bitcoin Cash was green. Anyway, yes, everything related with Bitcoin Cash reminds Bitcoin somewhat.  Tongue
I'm fairly sure that that variant of the Bitcoin logo existed prior to that fork.

In case it helps anybody, an idea of mine implemented in 15 minutes in Photoshop (sorry, LoyceV, I'm not so good in MSPaint)
Maybe it gives an idea to actual artists:

However, all done in MSPaint is also a valid idea.

The stylistic clash between pixelated brackets and the neat BTC hurts my eyes. You should go all in and draw the whole thing in MS Paint.

A Bitcoin Forum logo... it's been at the back of my mind for a long time. Something minimalist that would serve as a symbol for our community, Bitcointalk.
After going through a few vague ideas I had along the years, I settled upon the design that took the longest to click and the least to create.

    Here it is:

It references the liberal and hacky BitcoinTalk way, a bold BBCode tag all in a "Magic Internet Money" vibe (story here) but in a minimalist way. It's upper left defies the border intentionally, just as Bitcoin.
You could reproduce it by hand and it would mean the same thing - it would actually be cool to see it copied in different ways.

Where would something like this be used? I'm thinking of things like merchandise and maybe even a BitcoinTalk physical coin, as was discussed in the BitcoinTalkShow thread, etc.
    What do you think?
Do you have any ideas for a forum logo?

    Notes:
This is not meant to be official nor to be a replacement for the icon/logo created by satoshi - hereby calling it the Bitcointalk favicoin  Grin
