BITFINEX SUPPORT.   I AM SEEING NUMEROUS REPORTS IN IRC THAT P/L NUMBERS ARE NOT CORRECT FOR CUSTOMERS (myself included).

PLEASE LET US KNOW YOU ARE LOOKING INTO THE VARIOUS ISSUES BEING REPORTED TODAY.   We would prefer you took the system down to verify all account balances are in order rather than have people trading with erroneous balances.

+1

Very serious matter, not just on P/L but other things that WILL put people's money at VERY HIGH RISK.

Please take it down immediately before more damage is done.

I got that yesterday also, thought something was not right
because I knew that my entry was only like one point away,
yet my P/L read like 3 to 4 points, and that was after deducting the fees.

Regarding access to funds / Wallets: Deposit, Trading, Exchange, any idea to connect a debit card for an example to the Deposit wallet to give EZ-Access to funds resulting in less withdrawals via wire ?

Would be a great idea !

HELP

My limit orders seem to get executed, but then my position doesn't seem to change, and it's not in history, but my tradable balance DOES go down!

What is going on?  Is the server having issues with the volume?  There's also this ghost bid at 795 for 0.0 amount that's just sitting well above the lowest ask... I thought you guys fixed that bug?

ALSO, what is going on with Margin?  It was 4:1, now it says 2.5:1, but it's been bouncing between 1:1 and 2.5:1. At the moment it SAYS 2.5:1, but it's behaving as if it's 1:1.  What's going on?

Wow,

I held a 15 btc position open for like 19-Hours
and the Swap interest was 24 USD Dollars,
there is no way to hold a long term position open,
it would be too expensive.

PROTIP: you can go to the swap page https://www.bitfinex.com/credit and

a) reserve credit using existing offers before you open a position
b) add Liquidity demand bids way lower than best "Liquidity offers" ask.

If you go long BTC using high-interest loans and the market goes sideways or down then yes, you'll loose money. Please don't confuse that with a notion that it's "impossible" or "no way" to make more than enough to buy salt for your oatmeal by going long on margin - because it is.

Pigs are obviously going to get slaughtered, but that's a good thing. Your loss -> my portfolio etc

What are the default interest rates
if one does not reserve ahead of time ?

Or (if you don't want to pay thousands of USD) at least implement http://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?l=doc/doc_GeneralDataTradeServiceProtocol.php

...and Ripple! Wink

Anyways, just listing at bitcoincharts (and offering public trade tick data for Bitfinex since inception) would be a first step.

So, looks like the banking info changed again today, and of course it was between me sending a wire payment and seeing the new information.  Am I going to be OK??

Yes, you are.
We switched back to the old bank as Chinese New Year is almost over.

Have a good day

Thank-you for the quick reply!!  I'll await the wire getting credited to my account.

I would not worry about it,
one thing that I will give BitFinex credit for is
their efficient handling of wire transfers, amongst other things.
Many times it's same day or next day action once the wire is completed.

Now if we can just get a TradingView Chart or MetaTrader 4
Then we would be "Cooking With Gas" !

Any chance of you guys paying TradingView or MetaTrader 4
whereas we can finally have BitFinex Charts with Indicators
to trade off of ?, before the recent changes we were able to
trade off of Stamp charts, but now there is at least a 2-Point spread.

technical question to the Bitfinex team: how do you handle now the situation when you loose the API link to Bitfinex? Will you still remove Bitfinex orders from the orderbook temporarily, until you re-establish the API link?

Hello,

When Bitstamp is unreachable the corresponding orders are just cancelled (which still is noticeable in term of depth), until Bitstamp API can be reach again.

This is what happened last sunday for example.

Best regards

could you please explain that like to a 5 year old? for me it reads like "removed pink elephants from the site.."

No Crossed Orders:  We have made a change that will no longer show
so-called “marketable limit orders” on the order book prior to execution.
This long requested feature is now in production.

does it mean i have to market close every margin position and cant sell to close a long?
it means that you will never see this on the orderbook:

BUY----------SELL
820----------819
817----------822
820----------823

It was a 'long resquested feature' and has nothing to do with your (long) position, no need to worry Smiley

Where do I find the Referral code to give discount to someone?
I remember some people distributing them. Now I have some friends who want to join and I promised them a referral code.

Thanks
check out my signature for example.  Smiley

No it refers to the order book, or the "market depth display" if you want.

A single exchange has typically orders at a bid side and an ask side and a gap in between, called the "spread".
Whenever someone places an limit buy order above current ask price or a limit sell order below current bid price,
this order can be trivially filled and thus will be filled immediately.

But for a service like Bitfinex, which aggregates several actually independent markets, this structure doesn't hold anymore,
since not every limit buy matches automatically with any applicable limit sell order. If you just overlay the offers of two markets
into a single 2nd-level orderbook, it can well happen that the lowest ask order is below the highest bid order, whenever the behaviour of the underlying markets diverges substantially. This situation is known as "crossed orders". This can lead to confusion as to when limit or stop orders are actually triggered by the trading engine.

The change implemented now by the Bitfinex people is that they now don't display such "crossed orders" anymore. Rather they detect them and execute them in a best match way until the crossing has resolved and bid is below ask again. That is what I infer from the quoted statement and from observing how the trading engine works now. (Please correct me if I'm wrong)

thx for the explanation!

If you have more requests / suggestions please let me know and I might just add them Smiley

Regards Bjorn

If I might humbly suggest, you could add to the "Swap Return Calculator" math the option to account for compounding.

So perhaps you might want to specify there that the interest is "not accrued by default", so that people don't get confused. And maybe add a check-box called "compound interest", to calculate the field "Return whole period" based on the compounded interest formula << Future Value = Present Value ( 1+ interest rate )^number of periods >>.
