the loan interest rates are so low now. seems like supply is way more than demand and nobody is borrowing. inflation?  Tongue Grin

You must be new here. Wink

Rates were 50-60% for months while we were consolidating "down there". Smiley

Rates go up when there is more demand for USD than there is supply.

Rates go down when there is more supply than demand. Smiley

Statistic snapshot from December 11, 2013 - 07:43:34 PM GMT: 7,969,354.39 USD was borrowed.

Right now: 6,297,576.59 USD is borrowed. That's.. almost 2 million USD bored to tears.. it's obviously going to try to find something fun to do and 100% or even 50% is better than 0%.

I too dislike that "the party has ended" (for now, anyway) - but it can't rain money all the time. Besides.. how fun would playing BFX be compared to other games like Battle Field 4 if we could just lend out and sit back and watch money tick in?

I see...yes i'm new here, i lent with 0.8%/day, i tasted it so i want more haha, but now...if i have 100k to lend i won't mind the 0.1%/day rate, coz its still $100/day woot! Smiley
hopefully we can start "partying" again soon Tongue

I'd rather have my money relax for 2-3 days than to enter a fixed rate loan at current rates... but that's up to the lending market of course, some people seriously seem to have an itch to use just whatever rate they can get as soon as they might be able to lend out something.

Once we jump on the roller coaster towards 1000 or 500 USD again, it might get more interesting. Also, a lot of kids probably get money on christmas, might be useful to have some positions in line for that?

The slower the price of BTC moves, the less money traders can make, and the less interested they are in trading and borrowing.

Na, only a little time ago, summer maybe, rates were around 30% p.a., les than 0.1% per day. This now is still quite high, flash rate at 0.4177%. Too high for my taste ;-)

In the Loan column, I clicked the Lend button with min 60 lending days, an alert message "Invalid offer: maximum lending period is 30 days"

It got changed some days ago. Only 30 Day max loans now.

Yes, what I mean is the 60 days in the Loan column listing is probably an Autolend, it means you cannot manually select that lend if it is displaying 60 days.

this few days, themarket liquidity here is kinda low, place an order for hours and never get filled.
also sometime the place order buttons are not working, have to keep clicking several times or refresh the web page. anybody feel that?
Yep, I saw too some problems with the buttons. A refresh fixed it so far.

Happens regularly to me: always when the page was open for some hours without any interaction. The session is still open, the displayed rates got updated, but you simply can't post any action back to the server.

In this cases, I just load the page again (e.g. by clicking on "margin trading"). After the reload, everything works as expected

yeah, that's what exactly i my experience.

got 1 more question, if i activated auto-lend, how do i know/see if fund is lent out? will it appear in the "funds currently lent" field? or will not? because i received interest at almost the FRR today, but i did not see anything in "funds currently lent" field? thanks.

If your orders don't get filled, it means that your ask is too high or your bid is too low.
My orders always get filled very quickly.

I didn't have any buttons not working for weeks on the new interface. However, I have to refresh after closing loans to see the "unused reserved funds" being updated. Besides that, everything is smooth.

Fees on interest?

Supposed to be 10% (uninsured) but I'm calculating I'm short about 13%. Is there some other fee/expense that I'm missing?

What do you mean? BitFinex is connected to Bitstamp, the exchange with the highest volume (in USD) of all of them existing. The whole Bitcoin market has only so much depth.. Especially after large movements, it takes a while for the offers to regrow in the cleared out priceband.

If there is a way to keep borrowed funds after reducing a position, I would love to know.

Yes, I would also love to have this option. Is this possible or is this planned at some point? Or is this undesirable to avoid monopolizing cheap interest rates?

Something else: It's common practice to keep an open (e.g. long) position safe by setting a stop loss slightly below the entry point and a limit order at the trade target. In Bitfinex this isn't safe because with considerable market volatility _both_ can get filled and I end up with a short position of the same size. Any suggestions how to avoid this?

Giancarlo, could you please comment on this? I'd love to see the possibility to secure my position with both a limit order (if everything goes as planned) and a stop (if things don't go as planned) and be sure that only one of the two gets filled, not both as it can happen currently (given the market is sufficiently volatile for that).
