Can the accounts recovery team do anything about the bans? I thought unbanning was exclusively done by the Global Mods and admins. In this case, OP's account wasn't just locked like Harizen's account was if I understand well.
I cant say that to 100% if all members of the Account Recovery Team can unban Accounts that got banned or locked.
And i think its good that we dont know that because of security reasons for future bans and stuff.
But Cyrus has for sure all the rights for doing that and he is maybe the one that makes the last approving and final step when Accounts get unbanned/unlocked.
The only one who can give an answer is Cyrus or one of the Global Moderators.

Did you got already in touch with the Account Recovery Team ?
If not you should be try it again or maybe you you missed something that it takes so long in your case !
Maybe @Cyrus can be looking about that thing and why there is nothing new about your banned Account.

Have you ever staked your Bitcoin address?
Stake your Bitcoin address here
This could help to prove your in control of the account. (Now)
Nope, he never staked any. They only way of proving ownership of the account would be for the admin to look at the IP logs before, during and after the alleged hack and also proof of ownership of the email address used for account registration.

I am still looking for help with this. The ban really hurts. If there is an admin who is willing to spend the time to dig into this for me, I will be extremely grateful indeed.

This is crazy. I think mods ought to do something about this. There is another member that was in a similar situation like you. He even tried to prove that he is now in control of the account by writing to the account recoveries, but they never bothered to unban him

This is unfair. At least mods should look at this thing case by case, otherwise innocent members are going to be banned for good.

At first I think that you have to make the link of your account to be visible so that someone can access your profile and cross examine the writing styles of your account, because right now it will be very difficult people to be convinced of your account been hacked by another and committed a crime with your account, its not that I'm doubting you because I know that hacking of account is possible but the issue that, psychological nobody will wish to hack account and start using it instantly knowing that the user is on pain and its curious to make sure it regain or recover it's account immediately, so I think that hackers normally keep any account they hacked to stay long and been forgotten to the rightful owner they will bring it for sale.

He has sold over $1,000,000 in gear with fairly good reports.

He was hacked plain and simple. He is not going to bother with doing what he is accused of.

No percentage.

Is he a perfect guy no but who is.

Should he be banned from here not really.

Was this guy ever helped, or his case looked into by the mods?

I am not sure if he was ever unbanned, since he hasn't posted from that day. But I do a change of password on 18th April 2023?

Pretty difficult to get a ban lift on this forum, the number of accounts that get banned is overwhelming, and disgusting between someone like scott and the a dozen other spammers is not easy, I don't know what measures are taken by theymos or however else that has the power to unban someone, not even sure if us vouching for him even matters or it has to be another proof of some kind.

Many of us in the mining community know that offordscott isn't the type of person that would copy-paste some content for little to no gain, but does our review even matter to whoever is in charge? pretty hard to tell.

I logged in to my offordscott account and noticed I was banned.

In my message history, I saw that a post was deleted.  I did not write that post.

So, someone must have hacked into my account and posted that message.

I hope someone close to you have ceased the advantage of spying on your privacy to get on your account which means, you have also been careless with securing your account, i hope if the ban on your account is temporary then you have a good chance of getting lifted but if oerma then the moderator that banned you may consider the conditions surrounding to judge, i also hope you've once signed a message before now with thesame account, this may quicken your account recovery but your chances of getting unbanned may be low.

Now do I know this is offord asking to be renewed I am not sure but When I get home to my pc and off this crappy ipad (4-5) hours I can contact him on other platforms.

It's him indeed, I contacted him on telegram after Bitcoin_Arena mentioned the ban in the mining section, I know for sure I am talking to the right Scott, the chat history of nearly 6 years old is still there, so there is no way I spoke to the wrong person, and I know Scott (the one I talked to on telegram) is the one who posted this topic and the one who ones the offordscott account, so all good.

Offord does hundreds of thousands of dollars in crypto business .

I personally have purchased ten-fifteen thousand in business with him.

I referred a gpu buyer to him that spent over 10000 usd in gpus.

No way is he going to post a malware link it is not how he operates.

i will get back to this thread around 10pm..

I can ask a question right now that is safe and only Offord could answer it.

Offord do you remember the mix up we had with gear you shipped to me a few years ago?

I know my old password was leaked in a mass password leak from a password manager the other year. So, they probably logged into my account without needing to change my password.

It's not so smart not to change the password even though you knew that the password was leaked over a year ago. Who does that on this earth? Of course, this is your fault. Imagine if anyone has some confidential data from your other accounts. They can use it for their purposes. You could be in trouble for your laziness.

Anyways, If someone hacked your account and logged in the last 30 days, You can find their IP address here https://bitcointalk.org/myips.php. I don't know you. But, If forum members Vouch for you and you can get attention from one of the Admins or Global Moderators, You might get a chance. I believe they can verify the claims. Good luck!

Do you have anyone close to you that knows about Bitcointalk since you said the post weren't made by you?
Because someone around can be the closest who can do such thing probably such user is dreaming to have a big account, or could be as a result of of autosave password.
I don't think the hacker or intruder wants the account because the password would have been changed to ensure that Scott doesn't have access to it. Maybe they want to use his account to spread malware.

I have known Scott for years and I can without a doubt vouch for him, he might be unaware of the forum rules but I know for sure he wouldn't post links to malware or anything else that would get him banned, I suppose many other forum members who are active in the mining section would also vouch for him. I hope he gets his account back
I have just encountered one of the reasons to be a good and respectable member of the forum. In cases like this people will come all out to vouch for you and protect your interest. Scott has been defended by almost half of the members that responded to this thread. It reminds me of a verse in a religious book that states that a good name is better than riches. I also hope the moderator investigates this case and hopefully Scott gets his account back to continue his good service to the community.

It’s a good question. But I can’t say I know the answer. My devices have fingerprint biometric unlock and I don’t walk away from my laptop without closing the lid usually.

I work in the bitcoin space for 6 years now, so I wouldn’t put it past someone to be able to pwn me. But it’s most likely the Password Manager hack and my lack of changing passwords in a timely manner that did it.

Not sure if this helps, but here’s how I usually prove my identity on various platforms:

I, for one, was shocked when I noticed that offordscott had been banned. He doesn't come off as a person who would plagiarize text for financial gain, but the account getting hacked and the person behind the hack posting malicious links might be true, as I have seen some victims in the past.

offordscott has been offering his service and has tried to build his reputation over time. He is one of the few trust members who sell mining gear in the forum. Out there, we have all sorts of scammers

I would like the Mods and admins to look into this and maybe unban his account if their findings prove that OP might be innocent. They could also look at the IP logs to determine if the account change hands at the point the malicious links were posted or not.

Thanks. I will wait it out and hope for the best.

If you were aware of a leak the next step would have been to change your password before an intruder got into it. The recovery team would get to decide if you do get your account back, if your claim is convincing enough.

But don't hold you breath waiting for a reply, it takes some time to sort through the different appeals.
