You can say that with many things but at least with the discovery of oil it brings many benefits and it has changed our society for the better I would say. Food and fuel and for other industrial operations, oil is used. We cannot change how the other individuals can use oil for their own benefits but as long as oil remains to be more beneficial than harmful then there should be no problem

Depends on how you view it? Any discovery of a useable resource is usually a blessing no matter what but if it does cause some unnecessary side effect, most likely a cause of war or something then it can definitely be seen as a curse.

Ofc if you meant how there are better alternatives now which are a lot more environment friendly, then I'd still think it's a blessing. It's still a resource after all and unless said renewable/environment friendly resource was 100% sustainable for the entire world, then I don't think there's any point in trying to compare the two since they'd both still have uses.

You answered your question well but if we look at this from another perspective, it's a blessing. Oil discovery led to the development of too many things in this world, we manufacture more than 6,000 products in the world, thanks to the discovery of oil. We use oil as a fuel (car, truck, airplane), in cosmetics, in medicine and etc... Benefits that we as a modern society receive from you, is great and exponential.
As you said, conflicts happen but it's not because of oil. There were conflicts before B.C. and it's still today, it will always be because that's human nature. Oil can sometimes trigger it but conflict will happen even if oil doesn't exist. I consider oil discovery as a blessing.

Even though each has differences, all of them are the same of helping us to improve our lives. I think apart from us, there are also nature, calamities, animals, plants, etc... that contributes to what is going to be the faith of our resources. Only those who fight for each other, for the sake of resources are bad people and wants to take more advantage than the others.

It may be a human nature or they can be born with that attitude already but it is still possible for them to correct it. Resources can be natural or given by the others. They can't be called resources for nothing but obviously, we are going to use or consume them and the elders said that it's bad to neglect blessings.

It is a blessing for the one who owns that territory and mostly to the citizens who are in that exact location where oil has been discovered. So, for example, and to be exact with fossil fuels, when there are excavations and discoveries have been made with that. People flock there quickly and if it's not the people that takes advantage of it, it is the companies that are into digging and focused into this business. They hire people in that area to be workers of it for the extraction of oil or the process to get that oil that shall into the market. It's just sad that if it's not the government that takes the first move, it is the private companies that are ones that benefits.

Oil has been necessary to keep our societies supplied with resources, thriving, producing and in constant development towards more advanced and sustainable technologies. Oil is part of the process and an essential tool in the present moment. However, it doesn't has to remain like this forever. A shift from fossil fuel to renewable ones would be very benefical to most people in the world.

This shift would mean a real blessing, because we would have access to energy for a cheaper price, causing less damage to the environment, while using a continuous and sustainable source of energy. There would be no more reasons for wars and conflicts due to oil reserves' control. You would produce your own energy to use in your house and to fuel your vehicle. No more expensive electricity bills every month.

Maybe in some decades from now it will be already a reality.

The discovery of oil in some countries has totally led to the total transformation of their economies and a better life for the citizens in these countries, but the same oil in some countries has not had the same effect because a few individuals have become corrupted by it and refused to distribute the wealth it can generate. In such a country, the discovery of oil has become a curse.

Also, if a country discovers oil and decides to neglect other sectors in their economy and other resources that they have, those sectors will suffer because of the discovery of oil. In that situation again, oil discovery has become a curse.

Well, speaking of the advantages of the oil discovery, there are numerous advantages it has caused the world to experience, and if not for it, there would have been some lapses in the new technology that we are enjoying today. Even before the invention of renewables, products of crude oil had a saving and outermost purpose in the development of countries, and even up to date, we can't speak less of the advantage they are bringing. The discovery of oil will only be a cause when mismanaged, and perhaps it will lead to a fight between nations. 

It's true, as you said, we shouldn't all hate oil, because most of the tools we use every day use oil, we should be grateful that we are still given the ease of oil for natural resources, like the country of Qatar, they are rich in petroleum, So we have to remember that everything that has been given is beyond our capacity, so be grateful and enjoy it, because we need it every day, that is a blessing that exists today, for other people who hate oil, it is because they manage tourist attractions where air pollution really disturbs the peace of visitors. and tourists, therefore most of those who hate oil are the ones who suffer losses due to air pollution and climate change.

People must be retarded for hating oil. If they hate oil so much, they should live in a world there they don't consume any oil for a week. Guess what though, it is not possible. Even if you use an EV and cook your food on electricity powered cookers, the food you buy from the grocery store gets transported on trucks, planes and ships that use gasoline. Without oil/gasoline, the civilization we knew wouldn't exist today. So, if you discover more oil, it is obviously nothing but a blessing. The countries that have lots of natural energy sources are mostly rich countries. It is because everybody needs that commodity.

Oil discovery is not a blessing for the community living around the site. Oil extraction means a lot of drilling and spilling, with some waste ending up in rivers and causing pollution. Moreover, the infrastructure that gets built for oil extraction destroys local vegetation and, consequently, makes the area hostile for wildlife. If a local community depends on tourism, oil extraction is a threat to this source of income because tourists are drawn away from all the noise and pollution.
Finally, let's not forget that oil is among the things we must move away from to stop the pace of climate change.

Usually, the discovery of new oil fields brings enormous benefits to the state on whose territory it happened. Oil is highly valued and brings good profits. Of course, the security situation in each state may be different. But overall this is very good for the citizens of this country.

True, for humanity, the continued use of oil as a fossil fuel leads to further atmospheric pollution and negative climate change on the planet. Scientists are already proposing to stop searching for new deposits of it in order to reduce harmful emissions of pollutants.

 There you have your answer. The discovery of oil can be both a blessing and a curse, it all depends on how it is being utilized. Humans are inherently greedy and this affects how well the nation, state grows and benefits from it. There are negative sides to constantly drilling oil as it will affect the land and it's marine ecosystems.
Although, the production of oil will make for easy access to it's end products like fuel, and also make available other things like drugs or plastics that can aid in the growth of the economy so that they don't just depend on the sale of the oil alone, but when it's placed into the hands of those who don't know how to use it for the betterment of the nation, it becomes a problem as poverty will increase which will then lead to conflicts.

This is not a question you should ask you already answered yourself, oil is a natural resource like other natural resources as well it is the Lord God that has put it their he cannot give what will become a curse to his people discovering oil in your land is a very big blessing but it is the selfishness of men that has made it look  conflict able. People who use their oil well don't live in poverty. Some years back when I visited a village by then NNPC where in a hunt for oil the whole bushes in the village were raided some people were even praying for them to find oil in their land and compound. So if oil is a curse they won't pray to have it.

To me  I think oil discovery is a blessing and not a cause.

There is no treasure or natural resources that's a curse, is just about the individual that has been assigned to look after it or what comes from it's sells that matters, i know that people will always say why am i using africa as a case study, yea I will because am from Africa and my country is not doing great in anyway, we have this mineral resources in large quantity in the state where I come from but our government has decided to pay us back with bad, although I know that corruption is everywhere but the corruption in terms of rulership in Africa is nothing to right home about, there is know form of transparency in my country, a country that has many mineral resources but still borrow to finance their budget, unemployment always rising like the price of petroleum product, i think we need change that will impact the life of the citizens positively.

Many developed nations are using their natural resources to developed their states iirespect how populated they are but it is a different case all together in this side of the world, op, if anyone say oil discovery is a curse in Africa don't blame the person because it what it looks like, we see a situation where the previous government is always better than the present one and sometimes one will ask what's the problem with Africa, you will be forced to say that it is greed and too much of wants, people embezzle to accumulate wealth for generations to come without giving it a second thought if the generation can continue in that lane, Africans really needs to change their mindset to make things right unless the want to remain in darkness.

Not every country in the world will be merciful or play fair, many powers will use the excuse of war and invasion of your countries to blatantly appropriate mineral resources. In most wars in the world, especially in the Middle East, they always give thousands of reasons because of disagreements about religion, culture, and eliminating terrorism...but the ultimate goal is still robbing natural resources to serve national interests.

They are more cruel than we think, even after invading and appropriating resources, they claim to be messengers of world peace and are helping the world become more beautiful. A country with many natural resources can be a blessing or a disaster for them.

Conflict will always exist if governance is not very good because currently all parties really want petroleum so whatever efforts they make will continue to be made in order to be able to manage petroleum according to their own minds. I would not be quite surprised if I saw that oil producing countries had conflict problems with other countries because basically all countries still need oil, as well as certain individuals who will also do the same thing if there is an opportunity for them to own and manage these oil resources.

Countries with oil resources are considered oilrich, which is a significant blessing if managed properly.  some of these countries remain poor due to poor leadership and mismanagement of resources. With the revenue generated from exporting or selling oil to other countries, these nations should be economically prosperous. Unfortunately, mismanagement means that the wealth doesn't benefit the economy, but instead lines the pockets of a few individuals. While they benefit from the oil wealth, it's a curse for the country as a whole as the resources are not used to benefit the nation.
