Thank you for all the help I received, I now have my old account back.
Congratulations for that, so I think your problem is now solved.
I think you might need to sign messages for the security of your account in the future. This can also help you to recover your account if something happens in the future. The next step, you can lock this thread because the problem is solved.

I can report success!

I should have access in 7 days.

Thanks to all who helped, if my old account had any merits left I would share them out!

I am glad it's finally working out. For some time I was worried, thinking that they were not going to help you. Kudos to you for persisting.

I can see ownership change was queued today according to seclog which is a good sign  Smiley

Now I just have to prove who I am!

If you no longer have access to bitcoin address: 1NbyAR3YeU1efCqrdsDctZobUEDWazN4y2, and you cannot sign a message, that may turn out to be more difficult than it sounds. Especially if the email address associated with the account has been changed.

They have emailed back now so hopefully we can get things moving now.

The problem was/is in the 2015 hack my account was taken over and the email and password changed.

Now I just have to prove who I am!

Thanks for all the help.

To be honest, I never even knew someone here can help you recover your account as I thought it's done manually as you are already having the email used for the registration, I thought clicking the  forgotten password option to reset the password by accessing the email sent to you is the way to go back the issue.
Forgotten password will work if you forgot your password and cannot access it or if a hacker gets into your account and changes the password.

But if your account is locked, maybe through trying to recover the account using 'secret question' option or if it was archived, then you'll need to request for it to be unlocked.

Back in the day account recoveries used to take months, but for a while now they've been getting sorted out within a good timeframe. Try sending a reminder email and then giving it a few days.

Well since the account hasn't been recovered yet, I think sending whosoever that's responsible a reminder mail is probably only what you can do and ofcourse hope that the issue is attended to.

Hi everyone,

Is there a faster way of getting the ball rolling on this? I have emailed the recovery address but heard nothing back. I am keen to get back involved on the forum but reluctant to do it on this new account.

Many thanks.
You have to email them through the original address, that is the number one proof that you are the original owner of the account and so you still have control of the original email address. Did you do so? If yes, please give them about a week and see if they will respond to your request.

And yes, this is the email address they still use to receive messages for account recoveries
Email [email protected], ideally from the account's email address.

I have emailed the recoveries email address but that was from a very old post.

Does anyone know if it is still active or if there is a better way to contact someone?

Many thanks

I know the email, who is the best person to message?

If you have access to the email you used to register for the forum and you are confident that the hacker does not have access to that email, you can try setting a new password for your account using the password recovery feature. If you haven't tried it yet.

I have tried to reset and didnt get an email so I suspect it has been changed.

If there was a breach, the hacker 'knows' the email too, it will be on display in your profile before they changed it. Only use the original email it if as suggested above you are the only one with access to it.
I am the only one with access to that email address.

Thanks for all your help.

Actually I have found some old emails between me and user funchiestz discussing this project https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/project-bitcoin-island-bali-indonesia-567458 and referencing a post I started to solve one of his problems https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.6895575

Happy to share these with Admin if it helps. Hopefully that will prove a strong enough link.

Again, amazing support on here. Thanks
