Hi Luke-Jr

There is a comment on the Monarch thread, that the communication protocol is soon to be released.

https://forums.butterflylabs.com/announcements/4414-monarch-information.html#post72957

Are you still planning to Include this card into BFGminer?
I already have completed (untested) code for the Monarch over USB.
I plan to begin on PCI-e when I get back from the Bitcoin conference in Miami.
Note PCI-e mode might require Linux 3.6+ for VFIO support.

is it avail to peek at on github?

Better to have 100 friends than 100 rubles
Wouldn't it be nice if things just worked the way you expected them to?  Alas, that is not the world we live in!

Today's example:

Received (4) more Antminer U1s in today's mail.  Had a machine all ready and tested, running 2, with free slots and a nicely cooled powered USB hub just waiting for them.

Unpacked, allowed them to warm to room temp, shutdown bfgminer on the machine and plugged them in.  Restarted bfgminer and got a segmentation fault (and a hung ssh window).

Backed down to 2 and it works fine.  Added one more and it seg faulted.

Grabbed the hub, loaded it with 5 Antminers, and plugged it into machine #2, cranked up bfgminer there, and all was well (until the hub power supply gave up)

Tried 3 on machine #3 and it had no problem.

So...

#1 Any suggestion on what might be wrong on machine #1?

#2 (rather far down on my list) Any suggestion for a better USB hub?  This was in InlandPro 7 port.  I've confirmed it was the 2000mamp power supply that died.  Maybe just a suggestion for decent 5V power supply?

BTW - all three machines were freshly reinstalled with Gentoo Linux within the past couple of weeks.  All are using bfgminer 3.10.0 pulled from Github.

Thanks all!  Hi ho, hi ho... its off to mine we go!

Why is sending something from the US to EU so hard?  Can't FedEx or UPS it?

It's not hard, but the shipping cost may be twice as much as the device itself Sad

Hm, after disconnecting hub and connecting one erupter, bfgminer doesn't start... what it can be?

Go here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=137.0 and look for group buys in UK or EU

2. Is it normal that they show as Icarus?

Yes, you need to pass in -S erupter:all in order to have them detected as a Block Erupter
Must I do it or may I leave them being recognised as Icarus? Does it change anything from practical point of view?

3. BFGminer doesn't show me the temperature, what to do to have it shown?

Block Erupters do not report their temperature.
Ok... I have a radiator and it is a bit warm in the place it touches erupters (not hot) - I hope it's sufficient cooling?

erupter or icarus its only a name at this level.    If you have any other devices then you can name them, but then you need      -S erupter all -S otherdevice all

A small USB fan for some cooling is helpful.

Hey, I have the problem with 2 erupters on a usb hub...What to do?

Sounds like it's fried...probably should upgrade and spend .053 BTC on a 2 GH/s usb miner here: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/not-in-stock-free-shipping-antminer-u1-usb-sticks-uscanada-042-unit-382494  I've gotten 5 of them from the guy...he's quick and it takes just 2 or 3 days to get your stuff...

+1 for ordering U1s from iluvpcs, he is very reliable and fast

can you post your batch file text in here for us?  If you're specifying COM ports, it'll get confused...just add a line and put pause at the end to see what bfgminer says

i put only
sudo bfgminer -S erupter:all -o stratum+tcp://pt.ispace.co.uk:3353 -u user.worker -p pass
into the terminal
it worked before Smiley

you might have to use the --icarus-options 115200:1:1 --icarus-timing 3.0=100 still...I know that's what i do on my linux machine...and sometimes if it doesn't detect them but the miner opens, you can always hit M and then + then type all

I did it for several weeks without icarus options, but OK, I'll try. Now I cant hit "M" because bfgminer stops at the communicate, that it is starting.

EDIT: I've rebooted the computer, put both erupters as before: directly to the usb ports in the computer, and it runs Smiley No icarus options needed.

I've seen things like this and thinking about it, but have you seen where to but it in Europe?

get another hub, or hub psu, it's not providing enough power for 2 devices

So putting the erupters back to computer's usb ports will solve the problem, too?

Hey, I have the problem with 2 erupters on a usb hub. I've put a command like before and the bfgminer could not see them, but tried a few times, and it started to see both. BUT one of them began to make a lot of HW - I mean one of them was working OK, getting accepts and so on, but the second one gets 95% HWs. I've tried changing their physical positions in the hub, but it didn't help (the roles changed, the first one started making HWs). Now cgminer doesn't start at all, I have only: " [2014-01-24 18:53:56] Started bfgminer 3.9.0". I've tried with option "--icarus-options 115200:1:1 --icarus-timing 3.0=100" and without.

hi all new forum user here waving a hand
hi just took up the hobby
and I have a question
ok I currently have 4 ants
I want to run 3 on one pool one on another pool
the way I set up my command it seems to work right
if I start one after the other is this the proper most efficient way thx

cd I:\Antminer.U1\bfgminer-3.10.0-win64
TIMEOUT 5
start /min "Bitcoin" "I:\Antminer.U1\bfgminer-3.10.0-win64\bfgminer.exe" --set-device antminer:clock=x0981 -o url:port -O user:pass -S \\.\COM26 -S \\.\COM27 -S \\.\COM28
TIMEOUT 5
start /min "PPC" "I:\Antminer.U1\bfgminer-3.10.0-win64\bfgminer.exe" --set-device antminer:clock=x0981 -o url:port -O user:pass -S \\.\COM29

Thanks Luke, this 3.10.0 works pretty easy for a newb.

BG was a long drawn out fail on windows here. (those weird drivers and the zdiag thing of plugin and pullin was to wear out my ports fast.) Bitminter Java client crapped out on me after I said it was working,, hrs later Huh Ran the ant for a week or more just slow, and alot false errors. That is what I get for opening my mouth.
haha.

rem # bfgminer  -o stratum+tcp://mint.bitminter.com:3333 -u freddyfarnsworth.1 -p x -S antminer:\\.\COM5  --set-device antiminer:clock=x0881

bfgminer.exe -o stratum+tcp://mint.bitminter.com:3333 -u freddyfarnsworth_1 -p x -S antminer:all -S all --set-device antminer:clock=x0881

Top one was a fail I commented it out and added line 2

Line 2 is working, any changes needed ?

Also wat is the "pool 0 is hiding block contents from us ?  Smiley
I got that on the top one not the working one ? Bad Login ?
