I don't like being so low in the share hash list when I used to be #1. I am getting the mining shakes I think Smiley

Some points on the new home page blurb:

> For each successfully completed bitcoin block, the pool is awarded 50 bitcoins. Simplecoin splits the reward between users based on their processing power and participation.

> While many pools require fees on transactions and awards, Simplecoin does not. Simplecoin is run entirely off of donations and ad-revenue. New users will have their donation percent set at 1%, but are free to change it to any value. Users with a donation of 1% or more will not see ads.

Given these two points I'm left wondering what happens to the transaction fees.  Surely they are not just deleted or simply never claimed!?

What do you mean by "processing power and participation"?  Do you mean to imply that users who contribute more in the forums for example will have higher rewards?  How about "based on processing power (currently using PPLNS with N = difficulty/2)."?

Finally, a minor point but I'd much prefer to read "but are welcome to change it to any value".  "free" seems too hostile to me.

I was requested to make the homepage a little more layman friendly. That's what I came up with for starters.

I'll expand on the payout method, but my intention was an attempt to simplify the sites purpose.

The site does currently keep transaction fees, which range from .00btc-.09btc per round so far. If anything they might cover the transaction fees of sending out payments. As for processing power & participation, I didn't want it to sound like anyone with a connected pc got an even split. A 24/7 miner with 1gh will make more than a sporadic miner with 7mh, but I'll be sure to clarify.

If you just want to put across the message that the reward system used here is fair and simple then that's fine.  I read participation as having something to do with posts or donations rather than client uptime.

I don't have a problem with you not explicitly mentioning the transaction fees on the front page; saying that the pool receives 50 BTC for each block is sufficient here.  But then "Simplecoin is run entirely off of donations and ad-revenue." is a lie.  How about something like:
{
Simplecoin does not charge fees on awards or withdrawals; instead, every user has the option of donating a percentage of their gains to the pool.  A suggested donation of 1% is enabled by default but you are welcome to change this to any value.  Simplecoin also generates some revenue using ads and these are hidden from users who donate 1% or more.
}

I'm sorry if I'm being curt.  I don't mean to have a go; I'm really just trying to help.

Working hard on getting the new forums off the ground!

Good stuff, although...

Do you think that moving from here to the site's forum will cost the pool much in terms of advertising?  The frequent posts here means that this pool is practically stickied at the moment.

Then we'll just have to throw a bump up every now and then!
Wow! This block is confirming fast! But, you know what that means...10 blocks/hr==Diff increase!  Cry
Total network hashrate is at 17Th/s!

It was nice while it lasted!

Man, where'd all that hashing power come from?  Let's hope some of these new miners like PPLNS and that our excellent luck holds.
Everyone who gave up @$8 saw $11.change, and it became profitable for EVERYONE again!

I've just confirmed that the ads are visible when I visit the site but not once I log in.  I didn't notice earlier because I use adblock at home.

Speaking of luck, have you guys seen the state mineco.in is in?  They've had only two blocks in the last 10 days at a consistent 85 Gh/s.

Block #12  Grin

Well done thientibc!

Isn't it Block #11 (or Block #10 if you count from 0)?

This seems to be quite a lucky pool.  mineco.in (which also uses PPLNS) has been working away at a consistent 90 Gh/s and hasn't found a block in 4.5 days.

Yes! Since SC kept track of blocks! There was one before all the upgrades/revisions!  Wink

I stand corrected.  Who found the first block?

More points about the reported stats:

I visited the stats page today to find that my reported Mh/s was at only 146 Mh/s where it is normally around 750 Mh/s.  Indeed, everyone on the top 30 list seemed to have taken a 3-4 fold hit in reported Mh/s.  The top 5 were:

Rank - User Name - MH/s - BTC/Day
1 - hmblm1245 - 1,208 - 0.673
2 - mike - 874 - 0.487
3 - loderunner - 662 - 0.369
4 - RyNinDaCleM - 626 - 0.349
5 - DooKey - 553 - 0.308

Secondly, the pool efficiency seems to be rising suspiciously steadily.  I'd guess that the reported efficiency is an average taken over a fairly long history.  Is this so and, if so, how much past data does this average take into account?

I have been rearranging hardware and rigs all day today so its been off for me.

Google ads are up.... but disabled for donators.

I just noticed that! I have the ad, but I totaled my donations to 2.7% possibly more if I look in another wallet. Huh
I however, don't use the auto donation on payout, so I don't know if that is what it goes by.

It is by payout setting. Just set it over 1% and the ads go away.

Donation % is taken on cashout/autopay now, You can change the % before you cashout.
