One bitcoin is around 45,000$ and this amount is a life time savings for many people living in underdeveloped countries. Almost half the population of the world would dream to get only 1 bitcoin and they can only wish they could have one bitcoin with them.
The more bitcoin we have, the better it is but i will be happy if i had only one bitcoin.  Smiley
When people can get 1 bitcoin, they will say I want more bitcoins and that won't stop them from looking for 1 more bitcoin Grin

Now it isn't easy to get 1 bitcoin, especially with the current price, making only some people who can do it. But meanwhile, people always hope that they can own more bitcoins one day. Yes, no matter how many bitcoins we have, it can make us smile because we have an investment that can increase in the future and provide an opportunity for us to achieve our dreams.
This is natural, after all a lot of the members of the forum are still on their accumulation phase and they are trying to get all the bitcoin they can, and even if it is impossible for the majority of us to get one bitcoin easily, as the price has grown significantly during the last years, it is not something impossible to do and each day that is wasted and in which we fail to purse that goal is a day that will not comeback and in the future we will have to pay that mistake dearly as the price of bitcoin will keep growing during the next years, which is why there is such a desperate rush by some people to get all the bitcoin they can.
If we really know the growing value of bitcoin, then we may feel desperate of not achieving it these days. But for some who never have high hopes in bitcoin, having no bitcoin at all is never a problem. However, there are a lot of ways of how we can earn bitcoin gradually but talking of owning 1 bitcoin, that's totally a huge amount. In my country, you can be a millionaire if you can have that. So my congratulations OP. Good luck on your bitcoin journey.

One bitcoin worth 7600000+ in my country and it is enough to buy house and enough to start bussines. One bitcoin can change life in my country.

Right from the first time when I started investing in Bitcoin, my plan has never been to get rich quick or whatsoever, because I never let the greed take over me. But I had it in mind that as time goes on I would be able to make some good profit from Bitcoin, enough for me to be okay at least. And that was what happened, I was able to make a good profit from Bitcoin and right now I can say that I’m OK, I am very much better than I used to be before.

And one thing for sure is that as time goes on my wealth will continue to increase. It is never something that I have to rush, I just need to take my time and things will keep on working out and that is it.

Your initial concept is basically just wanting to get rich instantly and it's not wrong, but I think it's something that's not quite right because in this case we can't expect something instant to get rich.
I think the 1 bitcoin you have right now is a pretty good thing but when you see the current situation than you are confused about what to do I feel it would be better if you hold it and keep it for a long time because this will be much better than you have to bother thinking about market prices and some alt especially meme coin
Exactly, which is usually the problem with most newcomers to the Bitcoin space. We see mostly trading for quick bucks instead of the longer-term investment and as we know, experience is usually the best teacher which the OP has gotten and it is obvious that OP too, has learned the best form for Bitcoin investment and once you had the means to do this, the ability to HODL becomes necessary because this is the second-best step you can take with your Bitcoin investment.

As others have stated, experience is the best teacher because it is the time during which you can learn from your mistakes. I understand that you will make mistakes, but keep looking forward and learning from your mistakes because over time you will gain a great deal of knowledge. Initially, I was thinking about how to make money quickly in bitcoin when we first started out, but after doing some research, I discovered that you can't make money quickly because you'll lose it just as quickly as you earn it.

This is investors next target in the community to achieve one bitcoin before the end of the year 2022 by following the steps of other people that made one bitcoin in the community. I know many people pass through a lot of market challenges by seeing the price of coins keep going down at a moment to enable them to hold and watch the market price before releasing them for sale to make a reasonable profit.

Those that made one bitcoin from their investment really went through so many Market challenges that made them to endure to achieve what they want from their investment.

It is possible for anyone to own up to 1 BTC. It is all about how you plan to go about it. I don’t have 1 Bitcoin yet, but I’m almost close to that. Although I’m not really like forcing myself that much to get to that point, I’m just investing and that never really stops me from taking profits whenever I feel like I need to take my profit.

There are other things that I also need to do, which I need money to achieve them, Bitcoin isn’t only the source of income that I focus on, but it has been one of the most reliable sources of my income, and I have to rely on the profit I’m making to build other sources as well. For some time now I’ve been making use of dollar cost averaging to be gathering as much Bitcoin as I can: I just keep investing, and whenever I check I see that the amount keeps on increasing. So I know that as time goes on I would reach that one Bitcoin for sure.
It depends on how hard they try to have 1 bitcoin because nowadays, not everyone can have it and it is not easy. So if you are close to 1 bitcoin, you should keep earning the rest and I believe you can have that 1 bitcoin. Yes, we don't have to push ourselves but try hard because that's the dream we want to achieve.

Today, bitcoin has become a source of income for many people who know the benefits of bitcoin to them and they are willing to put their time into collecting every satoshi from anywhere. I am also like you, always trying to collect as much bitcoin as I can. And bitcoin has been helping me all along.

Hey everyone,

It's been a few weeks since I made this post. While I don't have too much time to browse these forums, I am grateful for all of your encouragement, support, and advice.

Admittedly, it's been a tough month for Bitcoin holders. With stocks tumbling, riskier assets crashing, geopolitical tensions, an upcoming executive order targeting crypto-assets, etc., Bitcoin has not been spared a fair amount of volatility. With that being said, Bitcoin seems to be holding up fairly well. Considering we hit $33,000 not long ago, the current $38,000-40,000 range gives me comfort.

Having a substantial amount invested in this, I can't help but check the price action on a damn-near hourly basis. A previous version of myself would have panic sold by now, and of course temptation is always in the air. However, shifting my mindset to think LONG term has become easier over time. To those of you thinking about selling, or doubting your investment, the best advice I have for you is to read as much as you can, and learn as much as you can. Bitcoin has helped many around the world attain financial freedom; not necessarily wealth, but the freedom to transact when otherwise not possible. We are still early, and I will continue to add to my Bitcoin investment every month.. even $20 makes a difference.

Personally, I don't think a full-blown war is going to happen. I think this upcoming executive order will be a call for a crypto task-force, or something similar, to better understand the technology. I'm not worried about my assets being frozen, exchanges being shut down, etc. I think when governments and institutions begin to realize Bitcoin as legitimate, and inevitable, the tide will change. Of course, do your own research, but I'm focused on the LONG game.

having 1 bitcoin is the dream of many people, including me, because nowadays, collecting 1 bitcoin is very difficult. The current bitcoin price doesn't allow the average person to buy 1 bitcoin instantly but they can buy small amounts multiple times. People who already have 1 bitcoin will want to collect 1 more bitcoin because their target in collecting bitcoins will always increase, but that's good for them because at least they will always try to get more bitcoins.

Well, its always the end point to come up with a whole bitcoin, as long as you're capable enough and you know how to save than spending it for unreasonable reasons. But for me, i guess the road to own 1 bitcoin is very every tough, you can't just say i want to own it now, you have to always invest wisely and make sure that you are'nt investing in bitcoin and then sell it when the price starts to increase. As much as you can, hold it more patiently, and make sure not to be bothered and create fears when you see bitcoin price suddenly crash.

Hello all,
Now that I have one Bitcoin, I need to cherish it. My next move will be transferring it from an exchange to a cold wallet (Ledger, perhaps?)

Looking forward to furthering my Bitcoin journey with you all on these forums.

Best.
at least you now still have 1 bitcoin and that is really something you can cherish.

i still forcing myself to gather 1 bitcoin , because like you in the past i only spend my bitcoin when time the value increase a little and now i learn also my lesson that never sell unless you have something that you need to withdraw in emergency cases.

So congrats for finally having 1 bitcoin and yes you must be lucky compared to many of us.

that is correct , because if only  we can bring back the past then surely we will be going back when the time bitcoin is just  a peanut not like now that the price is more than 40k , amount that really huge for many of us .
Well, as bitcoin has been developed through the years, then expect that its price too will be more valuable. Too bad that most of us have not bought it when it was at its cheapest price because we never believed that bitcoin price could go this far. So if you can buy a whole bitcoin this time, it must be something that you should be proud of because it will definitely create big changes in your life in the future. And its a good thing to keep aiming for bitcoin these days as its value will be more expensive in the years to come.

@6000SUX
You now belong to a prestigious club of 1 bitcoin owners. It's a club with limited seating. Even if all the US millionaires wanted to have what you have, they couldn't. There isn't enough for all of them.

I wonder when they are going to realise this?
This is another fantastic aspect of Bitcoin, "the elite" dont have exclusive access
to it and that ANYBODY can own it.

To the OP, well done on realising that there really is only one worthwhile project,
and well done for achieving and HODLing 1BTC. Every year it becomes more
difficult to get there.

Anyone who is thinking long term and starts with $hitcoins will realise
eventually that Bitcoin is the one to concentrate on.

Bitcoin will remain more volatile going forward than any other asset. But so far, through 12 years of development of bitcoin, BTC is being recognized by companies, corporations and countries. There will be no btc goes to 0. You don't need to worry about this. Congratulations on your journey to becoming a bitcoiner!. I hope you cherish bitcoins, don't sell them when the market panics, keep the will of bitcoiner as your journey.
BTC is volatile but it can sometimes experience a stableness. Many people predicted that the more the country or the more the people that accepts bitcoin the more its value can became stable. I do not know if that was true though. It is not the market that panics but it was the people that are involved in btc. They have reason on why they panic.

It can be because of FUD and they are scared that btc will go down or it can be because btc have dumped and they are scared that it will not recover anymore and worst that they cant think is btc can go down straight till it becomes zero. We do not think like that because we have a strong trust in btc.

A journey that I think all crypto lovers also feel, namely failure and also success. One failure is not the end of everything so don't give up on it, use it as a lesson in the future so that you can be even better. But if we experience continuous failure, it means that something is wrong with us, whether it's the strategy that we use or our emotions. Entering the crypto world means that we must be ready to accept the risks and avoid them as much as possible. do not invest or trade following our emotions because it will only make us rush and make our minds confused.
One thing is certain, do not come to the market with a weak mind and heart. Because that will be your most disadvantage that will bound to make you lose often times. Although everything in crypto can be learned, but its always better if you have prepared yourself more before going into investing, as you need to be more risk taker and be more optimistic in everything you do. And always know that losing is never a good reason to quit, but it should motivate you to go closer to your goal. And i guess we share the same goal with OP, and that having 1 bitcoin could create big difference in the future.

Did I stretch my budget to achieve this? Yes. Will I be OK personally if it goes to 0? Yes. This is a risk I am willing to take, and the more I learn, the more confident I am in my investment.

You are now in the right path OP as investing in bitcoin will always be a good opportunity to make your future brighter than ever.  In fact, owning 1 whole bitcoin is one of the wildest dreams of the people in the forum because its definitely an investment that may be risky but its potentially extremely profitable. So good luck on your bitcoin journey as you set yourself ready from all its roller coaster moves.

I do feel the same way of everyone here in crypto community, for me 1 bitcoin is very big and enough to say that I now already own a bitcoin though it may not enough to say that I'm rich now owning 1 bitcoin but this kind of number is quite enough to say that I made a great decision to have a great investment for me and my family that will be good for future purposes. I am still aiming for that number but I guess this will be a long journey for me but I wouldn't give up on this number, 1 bitcoin is big number!
I think the reason why we stay in crypto is to gain more profits and to acquire more coins like completing the whole portion for bitcoin, because that way creates more assurance that you'll never be living poorly as long as you know how to grow your bitcoin. But for OP, you already have an edge by owning bitcoin so you should never take it for granted even if its price suddenly falls because it will always regain its value overtime. Invest more so you will also have the chance to own potential altcoins as well.

1 bitcoin for me is very big, and even when I collect fractions from the beginning of getting to know bitcoin, I don't think it's enough. 44k is a big number, and I think only rich people can afford it, and I think there is a need for diversification of assets, the most important of which is of course the safest ones, such as property.
Even though 1 bitcoin is huge, you should never give up on collecting it and maybe you can get 1 bitcoin in the future, even more. We can earn a lot of bitcoins in other ways and while this, we know it is through trading, some people have proven that they can make a lot of money trading. If you keep trying to collect them, you will see that you are actually capable as long as you never give up.

Currently, bitcoin is now at at $41,247 so its quite down again, but definitely a good time to buy. I felt quite envy with you OP as you have now something to call your great investment. But you deserve it since you stretch your budget just to have it. Unlike other people, they focus more on altcoins because they have lower prices than bitcoin. But your mindset is different because you go straight for bitcoin no matter how expensive it is, and i think that's the best decision that you have ever made in your life. Bitcoin has also its ups and down, but always know that it won't turn into zero value as long its demand lives on.

with Bitcoin price right now, a regular person with a regular job at a company will struggle to own 1BTC so yeah congrats yourself for having the guts. majority of the people will likely want to buy early to some altcoins like SOL, AVAX, and Matic than buying BTC which they couldn't own 1. just want to assure you BTC will not go zero no matter how long the bear market will be. it may fall terribly like 80% but it will not go zero and it will be satisfying when te price reach another ATH after it.

Bitcoin price right now is around 42k$ and there are not may around who can afford a complete btc at that price. This thread was created on 30 Jan 2022 and price was around 38k$ on that day, if OP has bought BTC at that price then its a high one in my opinion. I have investment in BTC but not upto extent that I have one complete BTC, I am investing in top altcoins like BNB, Cardana etc.

Smiley

a good learning story to be used as motivation from the op who has experienced so many problems and was finally able to invest in 1bitcoin. Of course it is not easy to be able to go through all of this gracefully and want to keep trying where many are actually desperate.

owning 1bitcoin for now is certainly the dream of many people because usually they can only invest bitcoin in fractional form, and even then it is a very good thing. because the value of bitcoin is always increasing, it is certainly not easy to invest in bitcoin in its entirety.

you just have to wait when the bitcoin price reaches the maximum value according to what you want to do because the one who knows whether it's worth the price you receive and sells is yourself, success always.

I congratulate you for your personal experience, not only for the success and failure that you faced, the same one that we all face in life from different angles, but in your case focused on bitcoin.

I like the ending and it's the one I stick to, well fair and this being a discussion board about bitcoin and not a personal blog, my opinion: I think that to belong and feel good in this bitcoin environment you only need a satoshi in the hand of each individual, that will give him the true value that bitcoin deserves and then everyone who has any amount in their hands will feel happy.

In the reality of what bitcoin is and its ability to fragment into up to 100 million, there is no urgency to accumulate a bitcoin, there is no need to sell that "smoke," the reality is different.

Let's make the idea of owning bitcoin easy and in that process we must be humble, a 1 btc does not give you any sense of security beyond being a personal achievement, like anything in life, goal, project, profession, work, and a extensive et cetera is no different and in fact sometimes the sentimental value is greater than the real value, so that sentimental value can be extrapolated to any amount of bitcoin.

Hello all,

Now that I have one Bitcoin, I need to cherish it. My next move will be transferring it from an exchange to a cold wallet (Ledger, perhaps?)

Looking forward to furthering my Bitcoin journey with you all on these forums.

Best.

Having 1 bitcoin is already an achievement  more of people here in forum or even in the whole crypto world wanted to have or at least own 1 whole bitcoin but it is really hard to achieve .,
I myself must admit that i only have chink of Bitcoin up to now(Not counting all my Altcoins just bitcoin only) but still working to finally complete to have a whole.
so congrats to you and may you have more bitcoin to earn in the following days.

For me, who lives in third world countries, having 1 BTC is a very good achievement. Moreover, the average income of residents in my country
$ 200 per month, so you can imagine how many years it must take to be able to collect Bitcoin to reach 1 BTC. Like you and many others on
this forum, it is very difficult to get 1 BTC, because the price of Bitcoin is already too high. So I have already done many things to get
1 BTC, unfortunately I still don't have 1 BTC. So it's very lucky if there are members of this forum who already have 1 BTC, please just hold
the Bitcoin, because in the next few years the price of Bitcoin will be very expensive. The longer we hold Bitcoin, the bigger the profit we make.

Now that I have one Bitcoin

congrats buddy, this story makes me excited to choose bitcoin as my long term investment even though I don't have 1 full bitcoin yet, maybe slowly it will be achieved, once again thank you for sharing your story and experience
Not all would really be having that kind of chance on accumulating a whole coin and considering that not all are financially capabled then its not surprising that lots still have not possess such amount.
The value itself couldnt even be afford by most of us aside to thsoe who are really that rich.. 44k usd isnt something that can be afford but thankfully we could really
accumulate in fractions if you are really that serious on going for long term or even on short term aspect.
Even the middle class in developed countries do not really have 44k dollars in savings they can dump in bitcoin at any time, so getting one bitcoin is now something impossible to achieve for the majority of the people anyway, however as you state this should not stop people from getting all the bitcoin that they can, after all I think it is safe to say that bitcoin was the best investment of the past decade, and even if we should not expect the same kind of explosive growth that we saw, there is still a lot of potential for bitcoin to keep growing in value.

One bitcoin is quite expensive now to acquire. Not everyone can afford to buy one bitcoin now, due to how expensive it is.
I commend you for having the mind of buying one bitcoin now there's an economic meltdown globally. One thing is certain your investment is safe and secure in your ledger wallet. Expect much profit in year's to come.

Yes, I agree with you on this. Given the price, that is a significant investment, and I am hoping that you will not be upset if the price drops as others have done with their purchases. Maintain your investment until you see a return on your initial investment. Simply set it aside and check it again after a year. Please store your ledger in a safe location where it will not be damaged or destroyed, as I've seen reports on social media claiming that people's ledgers have been burned or otherwise destroyed. Store it in a safe or any other low-risk area where I won't be able to damage or destroy it.

I believe the future will be bright, at least on the financial aspect, for those who hold at least 1 bitcoin, like OP. Right now 1 btc isn't insanely expensive, but there are good chances in the future it will represent an awesome amount of money, being possible to guarantee a confortable life for anyone who holds it and make this money work for himself.
This thread is actually a good reminder for everyone else that it's still possible to accumulate 1 bitcoin on their pockets and that it should be done faster as possible, because we don't know until when it will be still possible. At some point bitcoin will be so expensive, that few million of satoshis will be the maximum amount most people will be able to acquire during their entire lifetime.

That’s surely an achievement! You will inspire those who have been struggling and have not yet been able to achieve what they expected to.
And that would be great, people take a look at the price of bitcoin and then somehow think it is too late for them to begin to accumulate it, but this is not true, unless you already had a lot of fiat most people began their journey in the same way, they did not had a single satoshi to their name but they did what they could to earn more until they eventually hit that milestone, and while without a doubt being able to obtain one bitcoin is getting more and more difficult it is by no means an impossible task.

congrats if you have 1 bitcoin
1 bitcoin is a pretty big value for now even though now the bitcoin price is down at 38k it's still a high price.
Under these circumstances to get 1 btc is very difficult for individuals, because the value is relatively high.
but if you already have 1 btc it becomes a tremendous gift, if we can read the market analysis we can get a fairly large profit in the form of short-term investments.
Yes it is, owning one bitcoin is considered as a big achievement for OP's hardwork. Not everyone can make and own one bitcoin because of its expensive price.Maybe its easy for the rich people to own one btc because they can afford to buy it but not for the average people who just started earning and investing in bitcoin. They need a lot of harwork and patience in order to achieve it.

Anyway congrats OP for owning btc. You really deserve it.

It takes a lot of hard work and commitment to own a single bitcoin. I feel that your difficult times have arrived to test you, but don't forget to learn from your mistakes and educate yourself more so that you can correctly manage the money you have invested and prevent losing and regretting because understanding the potential of what you have will allow you to make the best use of it. It was just okay with you OP to see your Bitcoin become $0 but for me, it's a NO. Your willingness to take risks brings you and helps you get 1 BTC in your hand which is somewhat difficult for me for I was a little bit worried about the incoming and afraid always to see my assets become $0 that's why I often sell instead of holding it. Maybe I was wrong but that is how I manage my funds and make a profit from them.

That your words could inspire holders, probably long-term holders but to a person like me, short-term holders, that gonna be hard.

Some days I buy only one satoshi. On sidechain!

Proud to have a successful period at the right time, not all successful things you get are the same as others, there are also those who lose a lot due to carelessness, do not see market developments, only follow trends at certain times.like the presence of the doge at that time and full of trust.I bought myself, but when the market didn't show an increase I let go when the price went down I was afraid to lose more..

Doge indeed cannot be used as an investment in the future. Doge is a Meme Coin, in doge our coins are like gambling bets, we can't predict, unlike other coins like Bitcoin, Eth and others. I think for now, if we have a lot of money, we better invest in coins that already have names.
Indeed, yesterday Dogecoin had become a trend among us, suddenly doge rose significantly, many made big profits, maybe this is all because of Elun Musk. laugh out loud

Vitalik is working the POS transition for Doge.

Like many, I heard stories of overnight riches, and felt the need to get involved.

Just like many, you have bought BTC only for the sake of making more money(getting rich quick).
There's nothing wrong with that,but:
1.You won't get rich quick.
2.Satoshi didn't create Bitcoin for this purpose(This will always bother me,but there's nothing I can do).
I'm glad that you have dumped all the shitcoins, memecoins and all that scam pump&dump BS,which makes me embarrassed of the cryptocurrency world.
I respect all the people, who have joined the Bitcoin world.Welcome to the HODLers club.
I hope that you have the emotional stability to resist the urge to sell, when the BTC price drops.
Good luck with your Bitcoin journey.

The last one is very hard, especially when there is Covid-19 pandemic and economy of our countries have not recovered yet. but agree, I think  its really enthusiastic approach to believe in this cool thing and hodl bitcoin.

Will I be OK personally if it goes to 0? Yes.
I admire your level of enthusiasm toward Bitcoin and the risk involve. However, it is not possible for Bitcoin to crash to 0 prices not even now that the major investors are the institution and organization.

Now that I have one Bitcoin, I need to cherish it. My next move will be transferring it from an exchange to a cold wallet (Ledger, perhaps?)
Ledger is the worse recommended hardware wallet but you need to understand how to secure it and also avoid the human error which could expose the wallet to online theft.
In the meantime, congratulations on accumulating a full Bitcoin which is the dream of every crypto enthusiast.

Well done, OP.

You just unlocked and achievement that many have been craving to reach as their personal goal. While many are whining about how low or expensive bitcoin is.

There goes the people like you that are silently accumulating and achieving their investment goal. That's really one of the attitude of a real investor of knowing what he's doing and have the high level of patience.
Yes indeed some people only pay attention to bitcoin price movements, when bitcoin is expensive they complain because they don't buy it. When bitcoin goes down they also complain because they buy on ATH.
Actually they could do much more than that, if they could invest better, not just looking at the profits. It is true, when we invest profit is what we want to get. But with so much complaining, I'm not sure I'll make a profit.

These individuals are new to the market and are investing without sufficient knowledge because they are afraid of losing their money in small dumps. Whenever something happens with bitcoin, almost everyone is quick to voice their dissatisfaction. What people should do is think about making money in the long run and attempting to predict the future of bitcoin, rather than just looking at things over a short period of time and then complaining about them. Bitcoin's long-term prospects are extremely promising; therefore, don't just look around you; instead, look far ahead.

Those that always get to say something and keep on reasoning, they're the ones that will always find a fault for them to stop investing. And when they see that the market is ripening again, they'll regret it.

It's a never-ending cycle that they have to determine through themselves and see that the fault is in them.

Did I stretch my budget to achieve this? Yes. Will I be OK personally if it goes to 0? Yes. This is a risk I am willing to take, and the more I learn, the more confident I am in my investment.
I like what you said here, a mindset of an investor who's willing to take risk and embrace what lies in the future of Bitcoin. It really takes guts if we have a goal that we want to achieve. We know many of us cant hold for long because of the temptation to take profit already especially if you're only relying on your income in crypto. I never had a chance to accumulate 1 BTC thats why I admire those who are able to hold some. Anyway congrats for owning 1 BTC its an achievement.
actually when talking about investment (not only bitcoin) of course everything must be ready to take risks because it cannot be separated and can be said to be one of the important aspects that must be considered. That's why investments must be made with a mature mind and money that is not used for a certain period of time and must be prepared to lose when investing in crypto.
I quite agree with what you said because indeed most of the people who are here, including maybe I am included in it, really can't resist for a certain time, especially the temptation when they go up and have already made a profit there, so the feeling they think is just selling and selling Cheesy

Congratulations! Yes, owning one bitcoin is a huge milestone, because technically only 21 million people maximum could own one bitcoin, and in practice, given accumulation by whales and lost coins, this number is significantly less.

One way I have thought of this is that supposedly there are over 30 million millionaires in the entire world, which means it is impossible for every millionaire to own one bitcoin. So owning one bitcoin will put investors into an elite class as the industry continues to grow!

Now that I have one Bitcoin, I need to cherish it.

As far as I understand, you were aimed at gaining 1 BTC from trading, and finally you have achieved this goal. Congratulations! Cool

By the way, you do not need to cherish Bitcoin. This is just part of your finances.

My next move will be transferring it from an exchange to a cold wallet (Ledger, perhaps?)

Yes, Ledger is a safe and secure hardware wallet that supports Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. Perhaps your next step can be quite difficult. As people say: "Not your keys, not your coins". Wink

Sell some junk you have laying around on eBay. Put $20 per paycheck into Bitcoin. Move $1000 from your savings into Bitcoin. Get started, and enjoy the ride.

Since the price of Bitcoin is volatile, some unexperienced newcomers can be disappointed by this "ride". So what about gain yet another 1 BTC? You look as a skilled trader, so I advice you to continue to trade, using your successful strategy.

I have a friend who bought some computer hardware for his bitcoins in 2015 and he still can't forget about it. He even did the math and he paid something like 5k USD for a hard drive. At least that what he'd have if he kept holding instead of buying all that stuff.

Keep holding OP, after all the things we buy are usually toys that we feel like we really need but we don't. It's better to have financial freedom and the ability to buy whatever you want in 10 years than a bunch of cheap stuff now.

I wouldn't worry about going to 0. It's only a saying that people use to describe an extreme loss of value. There's 0 chance of us going to $100, not to mention $1. 0 is completely out of the question because even total scam coins keep trading for few cents long after the scheme collapses.

Key word: investing. Forget trading, forget short term profits and losses. Rather, accumulating this finite asset in smaller amounts for the benefit of my future. I felt the urgent need to acquire one full Bitcoin, and I did. For the first time in my crypto journey, I feel that sense of certainty that I had been lacking.
I like how you utter this. This is full of certainty and I also believe that you have considered much about this, without any doubt. This kind of certainty is reasonable enough, you exactly understand why you feel so certain of this current decision on Bitcoin, the long-term investment. Many people are not failed in holding Bitcoin, getting high profits after holding for many years. I do really appreciate this.

Did I stretch my budget to achieve this? Yes. Will I be OK personally if it goes to 0? Yes. This is a risk I am willing to take, and the more I learn, the more confident I am in my investment.
This may be one of the risks that we should take when we have decided on this long-term investment. As long as we are aware of taking this decision, as long as we are ready with the risk and also with all probabilities in the future, it is okay. Plus, I think itis better to take this decision than taking shit altcoins which  are proising much money of profits but value zero.

1 BTC is indeed an impressive feat. Many will celebrate after accumulating 0.1 which I almost did myself but decided to realize some profits.

Congrats, and continue hodling!
As time has passed and the price of bitcoin has increased the goals that people had regarding how much bitcoin they wanted to hold have changed dramatically, at some point people were aiming for 21 bitcoins, then this was reduced to 10, now it has been reduced to one and most likely during the next bull run we will see people will be happy by just holding a fraction of a bitcoin, so it should be obvious that we need to get as much bitcoin as soon as we can, because whatever bitcoin we fail to buy now is probably bitcoin that we will never be able to get at that price again.

Acquiring 1 BTC sounds extreme. Congrats, keep learning.

As I learn more, I’d love to become more involved in Bitcoin, the community, and it’s future. Despite having only very basic technological skill, I’m determined to contribute in one way or another. Thank you.
Fate favored you. You're in the best place now. You can talk with other people who have “got it” too, who're constantly contributing by constructively dialoguing. If you ever have questions or you want to ensure you've understood things properly, you may create new threads and start digging it even more.

Thank you all for the kind words and encouragement.

Having 1 BTC is certainly an impressive milestone, so congratulations on your achievement. Now, on to 2 BTC!  Grin

It would be great if I could get my hands on one whole bitcoin in the near future. Unfortunately, I am still lacking "a few satoshis" to achieve that goal. However, as you pointed out, it is crucial that we start the journey and stay persistent in the pursuit of that goal. As the bitcoin community grows, I believe the percentage of the population that is able to access bitcoin and use it as an everyday currency is going to continue to increase and the value of bitcoin will continue to rise. In other words, I think it is still possible to accumulate significant amounts before prices skyrocket.

I am a strong supporter of Glacier Protocol (accessible here https://glacierprotocol.org/ )
If you follow all suggestions made by this protocol you can have one of the strongest cold wallet literally "state of the art".
It's not easy to follow all steps, and you need to be very detailed, but this is an essential guidance for the safest wallet.
I have also some hardware but I am an huge fan of that way of storing bitcoin, I feel much more "this is my private key" than other way.

My next move will be transferring it from an exchange to a cold wallet (Ledger, perhaps?)
The 1st thing that comes to mind for newcomers is Ledger, which proves that the marketing department of this company works perfectly. But the range of wallets on the market is much wider. There are plenty to choose from - [BIG LIST] Hardware wallets (80+).

If you are leaning towards Ledger, then check out the discussion in this thread  Why I wouldn't buy Ledger Nano S ever again? Especially, this post .

With the closest competitor Trezor, not everything is so good either: Trezor hacked (again) and Trezor AOPP Integration.

My next move will be transferring it from an exchange to a cold wallet (Ledger, perhaps?)
Of course, you have a lot to think about when choosing a storage location, but I think you're on the right way. Mt.Gox and dozens of other exchangeres serve as a perfect reminder of this.

P.S. You have succeeded in something that very many people on the planet will not be able to, given that there are not enough bitcoins for everyone because of their number of 21.000.000 only. This is if you do not take into account the lost and those that will be lost forever.

It’s funny.. Despite no longer putting too much time and effort into altcoins, I feel they play an important role of sorts, and I’m thankful for their existence. In a sense, I see them as somewhat positive network effects to Bitcoin. At the very least, a curious investor will open up an account on Gemini or Coinbase and even if they avoid Bitcoin due to the price, they have the option for exposure. When they open their app, they’ll see “BTC”, and perhaps after 10, 100, or 1000 times, they’ll decide that there’s something special about Bitcoin, and decide to do some more research.

This somewhat describes my journey. I had the sense that something was there, but kept trying to convince myself that a certain altcoin or two were better investments. I couldn’t fathom allocating so much money to one asset. However, knowledge is power, and after reading Satoshi’s white paper, and testimony from experts, I “got it”.
~
I also think that even though mainstream or some people are barely new into the cryptocurrencies scene by some tokens or other cryptocurrency than Bitcoin, at the very least they got exposure into Bitcoin. The problem is they might seeing a new opportunity on altcoins while they neglecting of what Bitcoin can do without digging deep into what actually it is. It is soothing to hear about your journey, what I could remark is some quotes: "Insanity Is Doing the Same Thing Over and Over Again and Expecting Different Results". And yet you are here going on into the journey Wink

Hello all,

After years of dabbling in crypto, through the highs and lows, the profits and losses, the mistakes and the lessons learned, I finally feel a sense of satisfaction. Like many, I heard stories of overnight riches, and felt the need to get involved. Dog-themed coins and the odd euphoric state of owning 1,000,000,000,000 of something.. ANYTHING.. it all just lacked sense and clarity. It was gambling, pure and simple.

Toward the end of 2021, I sold it all. I had some successes and some failures, yet no direction and zero certainty. I needed to start from scratch, educate myself, read books, listen to experts.. and I did. I soon realized that I should have been investing in Bitcoin all along.

Did I stretch my budget to achieve this? Yes. Will I be OK personally if it goes to 0? Yes. This is a risk I am willing to take, and the more I learn, the more confident I am in my investment.

Now that I have one Bitcoin, I need to cherish it. My next move will be transferring it from an exchange to a cold wallet (Ledger, perhaps?)

Looking forward to furthering my Bitcoin journey with you all on these forums.

Best.

Well, I can honestly say that there is no need to feel bad or embarrased about your dogecoin exploits. We have all made mistakes and some of us have had to pay a hefty price for the valuable lesson that you have learned today.

Bitcoin, in the end, provides us the best lessons. Let this be your steady path towards riches, from now on!

If you ever need advice, feel free to post away on the forum as much as you want! Posting does help you get rid of bad thoughts and strengthens your hodling game.

Do you have any point that this bitcoin and money of yours? And you're saying in a forum where people are anonymous that you have more than 30,000 $ , you want the people to steal from you? do you trust this kind of sensitive information for people unknown to an internet forum? be careful with things you make up of the internet, remember that you can steal
Chill out, there are plenty of people here who potentially have quite a few Bitcoins and it's not that hard to make a few guesses on who these people might be. Nothing is going to happen, it's not like OP posted any sensitive information that could potentially lead to having his money stolen.

P.S I didn't congratulate you on my previous post, it's certainly an massive achievement for the average person. I'm also hoping that one day, I'll be able to accumulate a whole Bitcoin, most I ever had was approximately 0.60 BTC.

Don't worry and don't hesitate. That what you hold now is something that will continue to be valuable from year to year. 1 Bitcoin will make your life feel more meaningful to continue to know how much benefit you will get beyond what you had in mind. I congratulate and thank you for entrusting your finances in Bitcoin in the long term. Buy then forget trading forget daily and monthly increases. Ignore the temporary decline because it will not eliminate 1 Bitcoin in your wallet.

Thank you all for the kind words and encouragement. If I could, I’d respond to each and every one of you. I will say, to all of those who hope to acquire one Bitcoin, to just start. Whether it’s $50, $500, or $5000.. Just start your journey. As you start to see your progress (i.e. .10 BTC, .37 BTC, .67 BTC, etc.) your motivation truly kicks in.

Sell some junk you have laying around on eBay. Put $20 per paycheck into Bitcoin. Move $1000 from your savings into Bitcoin. Get started, and enjoy the ride.

That's great to hear. With only 21 million Bitcoin all in all, you having 1 full Bitcoin means you are one of the few.

And I also agree with you regarding investing. Of course, I am not saying Bitcoin is not a great currency to spend, but since we are all sharing the same goal of trying to have as much Bitcoin as possible, it is best to accumulate it in smaller amounts rather than attempt to trade and play with it for short term profit. The latter has so much risks.

Your story is common but the difference is you shared your first step with us and you are pretty confident with that. I hope you will be successful with that 1 BTC and may you persevere and have patience when a bearish market takes place this year.

We have the same sentiment. A few years back, I have lots of alts and focused on owning them and flipping them for a profit. It did me good for a little while until I realized I was exerting lots of effort in exchange for a few dollars of profit. 2018 is when I started to invest heavily on bitcoin and make it my priority. Since then, I'm mostly buying bitcoin and just buying alts if I think it's somewhat a logical move, but I never actively trade them.

If you have full faith and with long term goals, I am sure you will become a millionaire in the future.
And I remind you not to have ambitions to get rich overnight because that is not the goal of bitcoin because there is a long process and very strong patience to achieve that goal, forget about that goal and plan to invest long term. and you will enjoy satisfactory profits in the future.
Volatility and fluctuation will always occur and will pass through which eventually the bitcoin price will rise again and will exceed the new ATH, all the suggestions here are the best for you and as long as you are a strong holder, I believe your goal will be achieved.

From my time in cryptocurrency the experiences of going through shitcoins and those that did somewhat well and missing out on pumps or buying  at the peak, actually builds ones ability to hold when they eventually get into Bitcoin and not panic sell at the slightest fluctuation in price.
Although, Bitcoin is not a get rich quick scheme, many would argue it's not a get rich scheme at all, and understanding the potential of what you hold would enable you utilize it appropriately.

Did I stretch my budget to achieve this? Yes. Will I be OK personally if it goes to 0? Yes. This is a risk I am willing to take, and the more I learn, the more confident I am in my investment.
This part got me thinking about the difference between; "only invest spare money" and "invest amounts you can afford to lose".
Spare money in this case would be money you can easily do without and would likely not notice if it goes missing, but amounts you cannot afford to lose are those which is highly significant to you, such as loans or huge percentage of your net worth.

I believe the balance of how much to spend on bitcoins is somewhere in-between that; significant amounts, but those you can afford to lose.

Always heartwarming to read this part, where you are okay with Bitcoin going to zero. I say the same for myself, knowing full well that I will be hurt if it really does, but that I also have already enjoyed enough to make the journey worthwhile.

So I urge you to do the same. Bitcoin is unlikely to go to zero but at the same time, try and enjoy some of the gains from sticking around. If it means making life a bit more comfortable for others, or a small outlay to a long-term tangible thing like a first house or a business, go for it.

If not now, the next cycle. Enjoy!

I hope that you have the emotional stability to resist the urge to sell, when the BTC price drops.
Good luck with your Bitcoin journey.

I've had quite a few friends and acquaintances who wanted to get involved in cryptocurrencies thinking that it's a get rich quick scheme. Unfortunately, most of them ended up with large losses after the market crashed, due to them having purchased at a way higher price.

Holding hasn't disappointed me yet, since I started my Bitcoin journey. I'm planning to hold Bitcoin for a long-term period, the most important issue is to hold your cool at periods like this one, where the economy is depressed and the market is crashing.

Congratulations to you. I hope you can take care of your 1 bitcoin and know when to sell. That is a good decision to transfer your bitcoin into the cold wallet so you do not need to worry about anything unless you lose that device and other things. After you have your bitcoin, you can determine what you will do next, whether just hold it in the cold wallet or use some fraction to try to increase your bitcoin amount. But whatever you decide, make sure you learn many things so you do not make a wrong decision which can make you disappointed. But if you do not have enough time to search for other ways to increase your bitcoin amount, holding will be enough.

Well, first of all ..Congratulations on achieving the goal that you set for yourself.  Wink

Now, the difficult part of your journey starts... which is the will power to hold onto that coin... seeing that you will be bombarded with temptations to spend the coin on something or to Sell it at the next all-time-high price.   Tongue

You have shown determination to achieve your goal, so I hope you can show the same determination to hoard through difficult times and to make sure that you maximize the satisfaction when you eventually take the massive rewards.  Wink (I bought at $400... and hoarded for years to sell some at $60 000)

Everyone can start from scratch mate but of course remember your mistakes and must have risk management next time and lastly don't forget to invest what amount you can afford to lose to prevent regrets.. Instead educate your self more because indeed all the information can easily search around the internet so must invest time and efforts for it first before entering again to any investment out there so that you can avoid risk.  Just be smart mate..

You now belong to a prestigious club of 1 bitcoin owners. It's a club with limited seating. Even if all the US millionaires wanted to have what you have, they couldn't. There isn't enough for all of them.

Enjoy it!

Did I stretch my budget to achieve this? Yes. Will I be OK personally if it goes to 0? Yes. This is a risk I am willing to take, and the more I learn, the more confident I am in my investment.
It's positive that you invested an amount you would be comfortable with losing. The usual stories are of people investing their life savings and not understanding why that was a bad call.

I hope that you have the emotional stability to resist the urge to sell, when the BTC price drops.
You only lose when you sell. Even if you purchased bitcoin at the top ($69k), you haven't lost anything yet. You are just holding an asset that is currently worth significantly less than at the time when you bought it. If you accept and agree to get rid of it at this price, that's the time you lose any potential profit long-term.

...you can just hodl on to it if you want to be safe or you can put it in Earn in Binance to earn yourself some interests...
That's another gamble. You are giving up control of your coins and putting them in the custody of a centralized exchange. Binance has been hacked in the past. It's true that they have returned the lost funds to their clients, but what if next time they decide not to do that!?

Congratulations OneCoiner!!

Cold wallets are great but for someone with a whole coin, you may also consider owning physical collectibles.

That initial FOMO and buying up a trillion coins is definitely just gambling. Yet, I would say that now that you have cleared the separation between bitcoin and the rest, there is a lot you could do from everything you have learned in this space. Going into developing with Bitcoin, delving into the strange world of liquidity providers and exploring DeFi primitives could be another option.

With the clarity and cushion of a solid BTC, I wish you well for the journey onwards. Do keep sharing your thoughts.

or you can put it in Earn in Binance to earn yourself some interests
I wouldn't recommend OP to put his bitcoin anywhere other than his own cold wallet if he is simply planning to hold for long term. The small additional percentage you will gain from using somewhere like Binance is tiny compared to the overall gains we will see in the price of bitcoin, and the risk of your coins being hacked, stolen, lost, your account being locked, Binance withdrawing support for your country or state, demanding excessive KYC which you can't complete, and so on, does not justify these tiny percentages. Much safer to just hold your bitcoin in your own cold wallet.

My next move will be transferring it from an exchange to a cold wallet (Ledger, perhaps?)
Your options for cold storage are a hardware wallet, a paper wallet, or an airgapped device. Although I prefer the latter two over hardware wallets, there is no doubt that they are harder to set up and use and easier to make critical mistakes with, and most users will be better served with a good hardware wallet. Ledger and Trezor are the most common ones, but there are a large number on the market and they each have their own pros and cons. You'll need to decide which one is right for you.

Congratulations.

From what you say, I imagine that you are planning to invest for the long term. Now what you have to do is to forget about volatility, both if the price goes down as well as if it goes up, because you may be tempted to sell. Look at all the people who sold when the price went up to $10 and $100 and $1K, etc. The most profitable strategy with Bitcoin historically has been not to sell, just HODL, and although I personally believe that future returns will tend to be lower, I still believe that the most profitable will be HODL (although it is also acceptable to sell/spend small amounts when the price has risen a lot).

Congratulations buddy, that is awesome. Owning 1 full bitcoin is also my goal for quite some time now, if I didn't have sold all my cryptos back in 2016 I would have reached my goal by now. Unfortunaley I wasn't in it for the long run back then and can't turn back time. Only thing I can do is learn from it and keep buying more bitcoins. Like you I would cherish my coin and save it. You should definitely transfer it away from the exchange. Some people here prefer paper wallets, other prefer hardware wallets. In case you have trouble deciding which one to use, you could just go for both and store 0.5 BTC on each type.

with Bitcoin price right now, a regular person with a regular job at a company will struggle to own 1BTC so yeah congrats yourself for having the guts. majority of the people will likely want to buy early to some altcoins like SOL, AVAX, and Matic than buying BTC which they couldn't own 1. just want to assure you BTC will not go zero no matter how long the bear market will be. it may fall terribly like 80% but it will not go zero and it will be satisfying when te price reach another ATH after it.

Did I stretch my budget to achieve this? Yes. Will I be OK personally if it goes to 0? Yes. This is a risk I am willing to take, and the more I learn, the more confident I am in my investment.

This is a crypto user journey. The longer we know and are familiar with crypto, the more prepared we are for what will happen. Yes, mentality is formed from the experiences we have felt, there is something to be learned from it all. It is not easy to form a mental like what you are doing now, it goes back to all our knowledge of the world of bitcoin and crypto. If we want to get something, then we have to sacrifice something else.

Best.
