Goodnight, o_e_l_e_o 🌹
During my reading of different post's and i noticed that what we call a merit, And was unable to understand what's the meaning of merit until i read from here https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.61426768 so theirs something that motivated me to drafts this, and it's because of this person " DdmrDdmr " it suggestion make me to know that to earn merit will motivate some to change it content and make it posting narrative unique.

Despite that I'm new and i haven't earn merit, but i believe with research and time i will earn merit, i will be happiest person the day i will earn a merit.

You are lucky that your trap caught 5 merits, or do I say you are smart. I already know that to earn merit in this forum is not difficult for people that knows how to do it. Without doubt you are experienced on how to earn merits and I wish you speedy growth in the forum.
But the sole aim should not be merits and to rank up, maybe you could use your newbie status to learn more things.

Thinking critically and reading a lot about crypto and forum rules is one of the soft skills needed to improve posting on this forum. so that later when you make posts on each topic it's easier because you already understand a little of the contents of that topic.

So I think critical thinking is the main thing in making the discussion in this forum interesting and systematic so that those who read it will benefit. Don't focus on merit, because merit will come by itself.

I don't know maybe it's me that's not getting your point straight or the collocation of your grammars here but every merit you received must have complied to this posting etiquettes https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/bitcointalk-posting-etiquette-5184741 and receiving merit is at will, if you're hunting for merits obviously you may not get because you're not giving the expected result to qualify for receiving it, post quality is judge by the recipient we feels he got touched and imformed by what you have posted and this does not need to be a whole full page, with merit or not people will make good post with a desiring content while some will not.

To an extwnt you're very much correct in addition to the criteria put down by the link of the thread in your comment.  But I'll like to remind you that there are certain posts that do got merit's (in rare cases) out of the discretion of the reader and not because it posseses all the quality you or another person might feel that such post must posses to earn merit.

In other words, what am saying is that, some times readers discretion plays a role in meriting a post.  Don't you think so?

OP, as far as I can see, you only recently joined this forum, wrote only 9 posts and already received your first two merits.
That's a much better start than most newbies on this forum have so it looks like you've successfully applied your own rules about thinking before you write  Grin
However, I would still advise you not to think too much about the merits, but about how you can contribute to this forum and its members.
Everything else, including the merits, will come naturally, based on your investment and contribution on this forum.
Welcome to the forum!
you are right, the forum just needs constant and regular readers that are ready to read and learn from other people's posts in other for them to understand the things they've not understood since they started.I think the forum is a place where we learn about Bitcoin, and study the market through people's contributions and comments on other people's posts.
And for merits, this is what it seems to be a little difficult for now, everybody needs merit to rank up.Just make quality posts and your name will be known in the forum.

These are part of the principles for earning merits, but there's more to them.

A good technical question can also earn you merit because it demonstrates that you have gone deep and learned before posing the question in order to clear your doubts and possibly gain more understanding from experienced forum users.

Furthermore, providing the correct answer or a perfect solution to a problem or question can earn you merits because the main purpose of this forum is to provide all basic guides related to bitcoin as well as solutions to any Bitcoin-related questions.

Just don't write anything related to what you've learned so far. Especially with regard to merit, because almost everyone is aware of it, and you have only recently discovered and begun writing about it. Not a good sign at all, and to be honest, some people will interpret it negatively. But, if someone asks about it, you can share your experience. People are motivated to write good posts by merit. However, you should not post in order to gain merit. Simply contribute to the forum, and the forum will return the favor.
Since i created this topic i haven't calm down and read your comment, but today i took time to read your response in some threads and i find out that theirs alot of meanings in your comment. And as you said many people will misunderstood what i said and that's the truth, my guidelines will be taken by the people that their comments is meaningful. At least your words is a words of advice.

OP, the forum is not a rocket science. Just read the rules and join into discussion whenever you wanted to. It shouldn't be too hard to learn the "usual" stuffs around here since it is pretty much a common knowledge to many people. I had encountered some users that are trying to overcomplicate things and had no idea what to tell them tbh.

Welcome to the forum regardless.

I noticed that one of the things that will make somebody to learn perfectly in the forum is for you to observe the forum with much time, because without observation and a research you won't understand the system of here, and if someone have a guidance the person will master the process of this place very fast, but one thing that is major is to pay attention and learn and also make your own inquiring about new development that people may like.

pay attention to each user and how they perceive things well and make their own questions about new developments that others might like. If you can do that, then you will be one step ahead of most of the newbies here. You can also provide various responses with constructive answers and suggestions, which will be a plus for you. But that's not all, you still have a lot to do. You can even provide a description along with supporting data for the topic you are discussing.

So Op how do you feel now that you've earned some merits? Like I said earlier at first the merits titillates you but as time goes on you won't feel anything again even when. You receive up to 10 merits in a single transaction. Op you can confirm it yourself when you get your 35th merit.  Wink

I can't respond to what i dont know, and how to respond to, since i joined bitcointalk i always study the forum,
[~SNIP~]
this is the first time I'm using quote to respond to someone.

I guess this might be useful to you and it might also help reduce your search stress to a bear minimum. Beginners & Help Encyclopedia I don't think there's any need for me to start explaining what the link holds Op just click on it and take your take to go through most of them it's definitely going to be useful for you.

On another advise, don't be discouraged if the post you expect to be merited is not getting such merit because merit giving I think is subjective, someone may like your post but the other person is not. Keep focusing on learning.
Actually if you make a quality post with the hope of getting merit, you have to be patient to get longer merit because not everyone is active in the same thread, but don't expect to get merit from one quality post but always improve the quality for each new post, the more many quality posts in your account history will have a high chance of getting merit.

I can't respond to what i dont know, and how to respond to, since i joined bitcointalk i always study the forum, when you look at my file you will notice i always online. So i took my time to research of the forum and constantly reading of different thread, and if i don't observe this forum i won't have being known how to create topics. It's just last night i noticed exactly how to respond with quote column, so don't blame me because when you are at my stage you make out time to study.

This place is just new to me and I can't know everything within short time, i will continue to read across and learn somethings that I'm not familiar with. It took me time to know that quote is another function someone can use to respond to question until i clicked on it and notice it's functions. Don't make a new thread on topics that is unnecessary, you can use the search button to search for your quarry. You are inspired by X and get motivated by Y don't make any new thread for that. Read and reply to other members threads, and implement your knowledge on other threads. Don't announce everything, if everyone starts announcing everything they have learned from the forum, the forum will be flooded with new topics.

so don't blame me because when you are at my stage you make out time to study.
User @Getmon is not blaming you, he is just telling you start interacting with the topics you already have and not to create new topics.

By the way, congratulations on your first merit.

Thinking before writing
Of course everyone will think before writing, the results of the post start from the mind and then apply it in writing that is easy to read and the layout of the language is easy to understand. The forum strictly prohibits plagiarism, for this reason you must write from your own thoughts.
These point do not guarantee you will get merit.

Reading before posting
Of course you have to read the contents of the thread or other user's post that you want to quote so that it stays in line with the discussion. Without reading beforehand it will make your post lead to Off topic.
After reading then the contents of a mediocre post, how will someone give merit to a low quality post.

Making something different from others
Well, this makes it easier for you to get merit, different posts from other users must have recipes that other forum members can benefit from. Quality posts are not measured by the length of the posts you make, answering other users' questions are also considered quality posts and have the potential to earn merit.

It's good that your observant and what you've said isn't far from the truth as these would aid you in arranging your write up to have some sort of pattern or sequencing to it and better appreciated by the public.
Though, your likely not going to be at your best if you don't find a way to be put yourself in your write up. You've got be enthusiastic about what your writing about and not force it.
Some users end up forcing a topic of discussion on themselves and be looking out for context to put words to make it appealing or make a complete sense and most times, it doesn't come out nice.

When the passion or instinct that pushes you to go putting you thoughts down isn't there, give it a break.

It seems that you have started to learn, the bitcointalk forum is the right forum for you, you can learn a lot. The more often you do it, the more you will understand how to use the forum properly. You don't need to rush to learn everything, do it gradually until you really understand and make a good contribution to this forum. You don't need to ask for merit, what you need to do is how can you present a useful topic and review several topics with good responses and provide solutions to current problems. You have to develop it, then you will become a member that is needed in this forum.

This person has just created their fourth topic. Thus, there are only five posts in total under his or her name but four of them are all about creating topics. Are you not planning to respond to those four topics you came up with? Or do you intend to continue regularly spamming topics?

You certainly draw inspiration from DdmrDdmr, but you should also examine and imitate his methods of achievement and follow his lead. That individual is an excellent bitcointalk member with excellent topics and figures presented.

@OP, Like you said, you got motivated by DdmrDdmr's comment on that thread, and like he said, "the thought of merit may also strengthen you towards drafting a quality post." But do not be deceived; there are lots of opinions in this forum, and there are also different criteria that members of this forum look at before awarding merit. The way DdmrDdmr thinks of your post and award merit may not be the same way others do. So should you make a post that may seem of quality to you and you are wondering why you've got no merit, just know that every member has their own criteria for merit awards, and it also depends on the board on which you create your topic. Threads like Altcoins discussion and off-topic, which are always full of spam posts is not often visited by most members that award merit,

Be also careful; as @DdmrDdmr said, "if you are too focused to earn merit, it may lead you to plagiarizing." Just keep your enthusiasm going; no shitposting. To me, this thread was not necessary. You got motivated? express it in your comments and topics.

The best thing that make people make good post is completely research, this is the A-Z of it. I have tried to advise newbies from just jumping to make post they don’t know about.

You shouldn’t think you get merit from every post you make no, you get it from who your post or reply passes to us. A self research post has lots of benefits for the community and even the poster.

Truth be told. Your post is compilation of grammatical  blunder, thou I'm sorry to say that, but I think for one to learn, someone has to tell him the truth for him/she to work on those lapses. But moreover, I was ones a bad poster and I learnt what it takes to make a good post, and today I won't say I'm the best, but I can now write a good and quality content, and you too can do it if only you work on yourself.
First, I will advice you download a mobile app called "Grammarly". It will help correct some grammar errors, and then follow the rules DdmrDdmr suggested, and you will surely improve. Goodluck

You already earned more than more merit as it stands now and you can get more if you don't make it too obvious you want it.
Just be spontaneous, be consistent and deliberate in contributing your knowledge as comment or fresh topics, do proper research before making a topic/post,  read to understand and revisit any thread where you learned the best/most from.
I also think that if you take this forum serious and have an open mind to possibilities,  everyone including you, will see the improvement in the quality of your post without much stress.

You seem to want to get merit as fast as it can get for you but ranking up is not just what the forum is because you still need to understand one or two rules that will help you in the forum. You also have to learn what bitcoin is and by extension cryptocurrency. On another advise, don't be discouraged if the post you expect to be merited is not getting such merit because merit giving I think is subjective, someone may like your post but the other person is not. You stated that you read before posting and believed in research. But why do you keep coming up with topics but only respond once? Are you also looking for merit? What is the purpose of spamming topics without responding? If you want to earn money from campaigns, be sure to have a real job first because you cannot earn quickly on bitcointalk. In addition, earnings here are insufficient to support a family. However, this is the ideal location to learn about bitcoin. And you can also have fun discussing sports betting.

It’s possible that he already get the answer by reading the replies of other member that doesn’t need for further conversation. I usually do this when I’m asking for something and get I want on some replies. The on,y difference was I lock the thread afterwards to prevent spam post which the OP should learned later on. He is just opening few topics so far and this is tolerable for newbie that exploring the forum. This is the typical newbie mistakes and later on be corrected as he keeps reading do’s and don’t here.

He even create a topic about tracking his post https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.61583370 that supports my assumption to this user. He is learning and that is a good sign for curiosity. He is not a spammer, he is ust lack of guidance on proper posting here.
Yes, I do comprehend it. I just find it odd that someone has four posts, three of which are posts that created topics and the remaining one post was his only response out of his three topics. The person did not even bother to comment on any of the hundreds of existing bitcointalk topics. Anyhow, I hope the person gets a lot out of bitcointalk. It is essential to be aware that the following year is the bitcoin halving year, and that the custom is to travel to the moon. While the rocket is still in the process of being launched, hop aboard and earn as many bitcoins as possible op. Grin

Don't focus on merit, and it'll come. Focus on merit, and you'll be outed for writing for the sake of merit. While the latter doesn't mean you're a bad user, not by any means. A lot of other users here will see that as a negative thing, and sort of boycott you because of it. Just contribute here like you normally would, but just make sure it's of good quality. If you don't add much to the discussion, don't post. If you do add something to the discussion, given enough time you'll get your merit.

Merit isn't everything though.
It's very simple but it's well said.
This advice I always voice out to those newbies who always ask how to gain merit and how to have a quality post.  Just contribute and be on topic, merit will come without knowing you and most important thing is, don't interact on a topic that you don't know, because it will create spam if you'll force yourself.
I've witnessed users here has been accused of copy-pasting from the article to farm merit which becomes a wrong insight from others, just post normally based on what you know and take time to research upon posting to have a reliable source of your answer.

Hit the "Preview" button first before posting and you'll see your post if it's contributed or not.

The question, though, is why. Why are you so concerned with earning merit?

You can still utilize most of the features on this forum regardless of earned merits or your rank. You can still post, create threads, and comment on other people’s posts. You can still ask questions and get answers from other members of the community. So why do you care so much?

I supposed that OP is trying to earn merits so he can be qualified to apply in a signature campaign, that’s the most possible reason I can ever think of. But you know OP, do not be obsessed with earning merits this time as  definitely its not a race. And the fact that you are still a newbie, so you need to gain lots of ideas and insights first so you’ll be a quality poster in time. And when that happens, no need to chase for merits as they will slowly be given to you by some reputable members once they start benefiting from your post.

Despite that I'm new and i haven't earn merit, but i believe with research and time i will earn merit, i will be happiest person the day i will earn a merit.

Generally, I feel being merited does not require how ambiguous or the idea you’ve contributed to a discussion in the forum. This is affected by the person who merits you; I mean to say how they feel and react to the message you’ve passed on to them, how it affects and solve their inquisitiveness on a the subject matter or something related to that.

True. With consistent efforts on researching and giving yourself more time on gaining significant knowledge and skills, then it will be certain that in the end, you will attract merits easily as they can be given to you freely from those posters too who also see the worth and value in every post you make. So take your time learning and be the most quality poster in time.

Researching and reading have always yielded consistent results in terms of post quality. This also serves as a guide for many who want to say one or two things in the forum. Your level of participation in the forum, I believe, will give you a better understanding of what to say and what not to say about a specific topic, particularly when discussing bitcoins or cryptocurrencies. If you can easily address the issue that has been raised at that time, gaining a merit from the person to whom you have addressed his issue will be much easier.

You can actually post as long as its all about crypto, but make sure you are familiar with that and you know actually what you are talking about. Although gaining merits should never be our first motivation because its obviously gaining and learning knowledge in the first place, but at the end of the day, you will realize that you are doing your best in posting because you want to influence others and you want to have merits from them. And all of these will be possible if you are already a good and quality poster, regardless if you are new in the forum or not.

My advice is to pour more insight and useful things into your writing or posts. because only posts that are useful to those who read them will make someone give merit to those posts. So the best way to make quality posts is to CONTINUE TO FOCUS ON SEARCHING AND ADD YOUR KNOWLEDGE AND SHARE THE KNOWLEDGE YOU GET INTO WRITING IN THIS FORUM. and believe Merit will come to you by itself. when the quality of our post becomes decent.

Making something different from others

Despite that I'm new and i haven't earn merit, but i believe with research and time i will earn merit, i will be happiest person the day i will earn a merit.
For now, I would encourage you first to just learn and gain. Focus first on accumulating knowledge and skills through crypto related articles, watching crypto videos and simply read and understand the bitcointalk forum. That way, you will have a lot of ideas regarding cryptocurrencies and you can eventually use it when you start posting in the forum. Just don’t bother thinking about getting merits this time, they will eventually come once other members find your post useful for everyone.

The question, though, is why. Why are you so concerned with earning merit?

You can still utilize most of the features on this forum regardless of earned merits or your rank. You can still post, create threads, and comment on other people’s posts. You can still ask questions and get answers from other members of the community. So why do you care so much?

Yes you are right. In time youll earn your first merit but with lots of research first. Maybe avoid talking about it for the meantime and talk other topic related to bitcoin or crypto. Some newbies are focusing on that thats why some got an idea that you are after merits, so I suggest you leave this for a while and research on other things. Good luck on your journey.

I can still recall vividly the joy and excitement I felt the day I received my first merit. It gave me the feeling of someone that has finally began doing something but as time goes by that feeling gradually began to die off and sometimes even when I receive several merit I just see them as nothing special and I'm sure a time like that will also come for Op a time when being given merit for your does no longer titillates thou.

 Thinking before writing
You are normally suppose to think before you write or even talk, It is the most simplest step to making a meaniful statement.

Prompts me to think if you gave this your topic  thought first before you even posted it.

What is your goal here? Is it to learn or just to earn merits? were you introduced to this forum or guided here as a place to just create random topics after a research? If so, I advice you to quickly have a rethink and set your priorities right.

You registered on the forum a few days ago and wrote (so far) only 4 posts, so your focus should not be on when and how you will earn your first merit. It is true that some members of the forum will reward you for your efforts and every good post you write, but in order to start writing good and quality posts, you must first learn something.

My advice for the future is to mention merits as little as possible, because some may interpret it as asking for the same. Be who you are, read and study and I believe you will be rewarded Wink
