As far as Cryptopia announcement, it was mostly Ethereum which was affected in addition to one or two more coins. DeepOnion was not there. So, we can hope DeepOnion was not affected with the hack.

On page 9 of the linked pdf document shows what the French Finance Committee Chair, Eric Woerth, had to say about DeepOnion in a report to the French National Assembly on 30th of January 2019.

DeepOnion is getting noticed by governments which is great! they might adopt $ONION at some point in order to use as their private cryptocurrency instead of making their own, they can save time and efforts. And DeepOnion can be public and private at the same time, it is people choice!
Privacy coins will never be adopted by governments or banks because they have no control over it. This is why I think privacy will always be relevant.

Any upcoming news with DO? Smart contract, etc?
The team is working on finishing the code rebase right now, after that they will work on DeepSend. Code rebase is close to completion, from what I understand.Thank you. Is there a roadmap that I can look at?
