I'm thrilled to see new ASIC products but I'm unsure about the merits of the blades over the Eruptors.

a 10GH/s = 32 Eruptors

So basically buying a blade is more expensice than the same hash power bought with Eruptors.

What are the benefits of the blade

Power consumption? stand alone solution?

we don't yet know how much the blades will be...

Just an FYI for comparison:
15 Block Erupters = 7.2BTC, 5.04 GH/s (plus USB hubs)

30 Block Erupters = 14.4BTC, 10.08 GH/s (plus USB hubs)

+ computer
or
+ Rpi and compatible USB hubs
if you are involved with bitcoin I'm pretty sure you already have a computer.  Also unless you believe a pound of apples should cost more per apple then each one separately, the blade should be cheaper but knowing the strange and magical unicorn world of bitcoin and asic it wouldn't surprise me if it will not.

to be fair and compare orange with orange, you need to compare prices of products that if you were buying them today, you would receive it no latter than next week.

Comparing the price tag of a product available now with one that god knows when you will receive between next month and next year if ever isn't fair, IMO.

Sure, you can also add in bitfury blades at 52 dollars/GHS with their smallest starter kit.

Many folks might not think this is a good comparison since BFL is having problems with fulfillment... but their 7 Gh/s unit is $408 with shipping. The ones I have are running right at 8 Gh/s... so that is a good cost standard to consider. In the coming months devices will have to be at least at that price point to be competitive.

My feeling is the Blades will be a lot cheaper than the Eruptor combination. Maybe a little more energy efficient too.
not going to happen.  ASICMiner will not miss-price its products to gut one line over another.  both product lines should have similar pricing in the long run..

the BE have expensive packaging for 1 asic... the colored finish, mounting on usb stick. and retail packaging. i would assume his cost is close to $5-10 and with the next price drop it wont be heavily profitable to keep selling these much lower than .2btc. on a side note no wonder why asicminer dividends were so high selling these at 1.99BTC with a production cost of .05 - .1BTC

whereas the blades they slam 30-32 asics on a board the cost per asic vs BE is probably 30-40% cheaper production wise and historically the larger units HAVE to be cheaper Hash per $ than smaller units.

my original point was that blades were supposed to be announced 7/10 and due to the delays and BE price drops there will HAVE to be a price drop from the announced price of 9.88/18.88BTC before the first one is even delivered!

one last point is due to the BE drops suddenly undelivered Avalon chips (unmounted bare chips @ $7-9USD) which are slower than BE are going to be too expensive... asicminer is gonna cause a lot of heartburn with avalon and BFL preorders.

Hopefully the price will come in around .5 BTC/ 1GH. That's the magic number.

i'm very interested in your group buy as i rather dread having spend the next two weeks glued to my computer so i can jump on a blade when they get released. however i have to say i would feel more confident if escrow were involved. Is this a possibility? I would be willing to pay escrow fees

I doubt Canaryinthemine is interested in dealing with Escrow. He has sold 10.000+ USB Eruptors already without a single complaint. Pretty sure you can trust him with 10-20 BTC..
