Is it a massive risk to build 2 rigs now not knowing what return you will get from day one?

Better to wait?

Her we go again Smiley

hm, can't connect to pool?! 5 minutes staying on "connecting" Sad
It seems miner needs 2 more ports for working:
60200 and 60201 in addition to 6668

For those who are behind firewalls...

Could someone please help me?

I downloaded the binary and edited the config. I have 4x R9 280x.

I installed the radeon-crimson-15.12-with-dotnet45-win7-64bit driver and i also tested it already with the latest one.

This is my config:

Code:
server = "coinsforall.io";

port = "6668";

# Your ZCASH payout address

address = "zthTb2ToG5kuAc11Ni6NxoYjoxQdEr2XvST7XEdLvmHG9k7kotEcwYCaAn1SH4zRdPoXn9kNeFm8CQok9SNtNgn8d9WcdTK";

# You can give this machine a custom name

# Computer name is used as default

# name = "worker_name";

# Platform:

#  "amd": AMD GCN cards

#  "nvidia": NVidia Maxwell cards

platform = "amd";

# GPU crash handling (properly untested feature):

# 0 - do nothing

# 1 - close miner application

# 2 - reboot system (need superuser rights)

onCrash = "0";

# - The following settings have one entry per GPU

# - If you have more than 4 just add more entries or leave it as is to use defaults

# - All entries must be separated by commas and set between double quotes

# 0 = don't use device

# 1 = use device

devices =        ["1", "1", "1", "1"];

# work sizes

worksizes = ["256", "256", "256", "256"];

# threads

threads = ["8192", "8192", "8192", "8192"];

# -1 means don't change

corefreq =       ["1000", "1000", "1000", "1000"];

memfreq =        ["1500", "1500", "1500", "1500"];

powertune =      ["-1", "-1", "-1", "-1"];

fanspeed =       ["80", "80", "80", "80"];

After starting the miner the first time it makes this and hang up:

This is what the error tells that could be helpfull to detect the problem :/ ?

  C:\Users\ethereum\AppData\Local\Temp\WER933A.tmp.WERInternalMetadata.xml
  C:\Users\ethereum\AppData\Local\Temp\WERC439.tmp.appcompat.txt
  C:\Users\ethereum\AppData\Local\Temp\WERC44A.tmp.mdmp

after doing the second start it tells this:

Same happens with standard settings without changing config. I also installe OpenCL 2.0 to get sure all is installed.

The same happens after the try to delete the equiw bin. It generated a new one and crashes on second start the same again like on top.

Does anyone have a solution for me? I am on Windows 7

Ok, so whats the final verdict?

which gpu's or cpu's?

Want to start buying.

Defeninatly buy GPUs  , I just tried a high end I7 6800 cpu with 12 cores and 32gb of ram and it only gets 16 sols (using the nicehash miner) vs a rx 470 that gets 17 sols

I heard there is a better CPU miner though

Yes there is someone getting 30sol/s in the zcash forum.

Not sure if it will be released.

Whats thet best GPU with low cost?

rx470 does around 150w I think?

I think 470 is the best and will probably receive good optimization in the future.  I measured it at 80 watts undervolted at the wall.  Going to be hard to beat that.

This is my first rig so hope you can answer a few noob questions.

if your saying its only 80 watts then I can run 6 cards (480 watts) on a 1000w power supply?

Why speeds on 7970 / R9 280X are so low? 8-9 sol/s! I know that they are old, but they have 384-bit memory bus, and memory bandwidth of those cards - about 260GB/s - is on par with that for RX480 (256GB/s on stock). I thought that Equihash is memory bandwidth-hard algo, no?
What are the chances that we'll see speed improvements for old cards? Smiley

They are very good cards but this algo is not optimized for the older Southern Island AMD cards.
