If there is no Win 10 limit to the number of GPU's then just buy an OEM copy of Win 10 and give it a try.  Does't make sense to put up with the Chinese Ent version if a regular Win 10 OEM license will do the trick.

stupid question - since the HW itself is standard (yes mobile edition) can't you just re-install the miner to run with English version of Win10 and configure it again ? I don't see roadblocks. What is the reason to stick to the original OS ?

The windows licence.
well licences Win10 in Chines is better than illegal Win10 in English? We all know % of ppl that pay for software...

From what I gathered in the other threads on this you need Win 10 Enterprise in order to support 8gpu's.  So unless you happen to have an enterprise edition laying around that may be the reason for not replacing it.

I don't recall if anyone mentioned that there were any special drivers or anything needed if you do have to reinstall the OS.  So I don't know about dependencies.  If it is just a simple reinstall of the OS that would be great.  It would then just be the logistics of running down an Enterprise edition of Win 10.  Does anyone know if the 90 day trial version stops functioning after the 90 day?  Would it be a suitable replacement for the Chinese copy on these machines?  https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/evalcenter/evaluate-windows-10-enterprise

well, trial can be used for almost 1 year for free:
1. When it's about to expire open CMD as Administrator.
2. slmgr -rearm
3. Reboot
4. Repeat = 4 times per 90days each

Really? I never heard that other Win10 versions support less gpus. I think that limit is the same  - 8GPUs

Phil,  Does the Pandaminer run smoothly on XMR/ZEC/ETH/ETC?  I know earlier it was reported some things didn't work.  Is everything working now?

I am trying to figure out if these things out of the box are ready for deployment in a hosting situation or if they need reworked to be useful in that kind of environment.  At the moment I am busy buying other things, but I would like to loop back some time this summer and start adding the PM's if they are ready for prime time.

Xmr and zec are solid.

Eth is good at full speed fans.

Right now the hardest thing to do is switch Chinese to English.

I never tested etc do not know.

I like mining xmr pretty good for mining it. 5950 h at 990 watts.

Eliovp mod   Linux rom is 6500 h  at 830 watts. Big improvement.

assuming Panda guys has a steady bulk supply of 480Ms, hope they dont mind getting 470s too - its the mining sweet spot among the AMD cards!

I'm sure that Panda guys are pretty much in preparation to 3 weeks of Lunar New Year holidays...

Yeah we are pretty much on our own for a while.

I did some more testing and I have switched over to xmr seems very stable.

I lower fans back to 35watts or a little under 9 volts.

I now measure the exhaust temps on the gpus fans as long as I am under 100f at these fans the gear just runs and runs.

I get 5950h with 990 watts at the pdu.  this is with an evga 1600 g2.  Iam sure if it were a t2 I would drop 50 more watts.

I wish I could justify buying a second one of these and the linux os+rom but it is costly I need to mine and maybe sell some gear.

Here I am on nanopool

Hey Guys at Pandaminer : You had posted in one of the comments that using RX 470 4gb MXM cards could lower the price of the Pandaminer to around 10000 from 15000, I would strongly urge you to produce that version as that would represent an incredible value that we just could not pass on.

Yah. I think this would be smart to do.

do it

there seems to be a cheaper 4 GPU x 480Ms on their website -- don't know if that is in the production lines soon.

In case you guys are curious, this is how much you'd be earning by mining either ETH, ZEC, XMR, ZCL or ETC with a Panda Miner (after power costs) right now:

http://www.mycryptobuddy.com/path?hardware=custom&selectedCoins=ETH,ZEC&Ethash=237&Equihash=1880&Cryptonote=5890&powerEthash=1250&powerEquihash=1200&powerCryptonote=1120

Nice project you have here - what miner are you using for XMR?
I pulled those numbers from what people reported using Claymore's miner. I believe they should be pretty accurate. See anything you disagree with?

It is not easy replace mobile CPU in BGA1168 socket (soldered)- is needed specialized equipment, knowledge and skill to do.

and why do you think it is soldered?

it may be soldered.

as I said the cpu is accessible .

all bga socket CPUs are soldered.
Look to some video how to replace BGA CPUs in notebooks...

Most not all.  There are pin sockets that can work and are used for development since this is a custom product with a small build. We have no idea that the CPU is  soldered until someone removes the heat sink and let's us know.

Check  wiki for difficulty in development of mobos with bga sockets near the end of their bga entry.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ball_grid_array#Difficulties_with_BGAs_during_circuit_development

I have used rework Gear and if these are soldered. I would leave them alone.

More then likely it is soldered but it was a small run maybe they did not solder the CPU.

I did a lot of mac mini upgrades  and apple kiiled it off  for me by soldering the cpus in 2009 then the ram in 2014.

I tired to do some rework upgrades  with the 2014s but it was hard and said fuck apple.

all in all if it is soldered in (likely not sure)  they should upgrade the next edition. there is a decent  upgrade in the same class of celeron's

this is better

then the one it comes with
