1. There was a 1 GH/s contest and it ended, so we started a 5 GH/s contest.

2.  There are not winners every day..

But I can try every day at 22 00 UTC to win. That's correct?

No.  The contest ends at 22:00 on March 17th when we see the winning block.

thanks for the quick reply.
Really keen on starting this so was thinking, I could just get the amount I need to start mining by purchasing the lowest amount I need for 1GH which is 0.01250000 from say BTC-E and then add more hashing power later.
Is BTC-E a trusted source to purchase BTC?
Sorry for the questions, as you can tell I'm very new to all this but am learning and reading all about BTC.
thanks again.

btc-e is one of the top 3 exchanges as to its reliability I personally have had problems with transactions with them but they have all been resolved given a few days. If you are thinking about wire transfering money though do not do that since there are a lot of people complaining it takes months and had nothing but problems.

Finally managed to get an account created and was looking forward to getting a contract and then hit a problem....I cant buy a contract as it only allows me to pay in BTC which I don't have.
Any chance of paying by an alternative means ie paypal in the future?
I see you can also get contracts by paypal but when checking your ebay page there are no auctions currently Sad

We will put up more auctions in the near future and offer alternative payment methods on our site.

News/Updates page says 404
then another thing is that I can not get my username visible on global stats

As for the news/updates, this is because we are switching servers.  It is still trying to use the old page, which doesn't exist anymore.  I have been told it can take up to 48 hours for full propagation.

It will also be some time before you can switch that "display username in global stats" toggle.  This is a database security issue that we need to work around, and this is why we disabled the feature.  We will have it back ASAP though!  Smiley

If anybody wants me to manually change their global stats setting, let me know.  I will be more than happy to.

I'm using IE 9, not sure if this matters but Im in the UK but we go through a proxy via France - currently at work so it could be the proxy/anti v/firewall blocking something.
I'll give it another go from home using chrome.
cheers

Seems to work with Chrome from home for me...
