That was about 4 days ago, and yes it's still pending. Cancellation of the transaction requires additional gas fees and it can't be set any higher manually. It can only be speeded up by making multiple cancel orders so that gas is accumulated. cmiiw

Is that metamask ? i think you should use mew so you can customize the gas to higher

The ETH network is quite overloaded at the moment. You will need more gas than normal right now if you want it to go through
The best solution is to cancel the Tx
Canceling a Transaction Canceling means generating a 0 ETH transaction to your own address with the purpose of preventing a previous transaction from “going through” , “being mined”,  “being included in the blockchain” / “being stuck”.

Maybe you should try to create a new transaction with the same nonce and send it to the network with an acceptable fee. Thanks to this, the chances of accelerated processing of the transaction increase, and the transaction will be included in the blockchain precisely because of the increased fee.

Recently, the Ethereum network has become so congested that many transactions do take a very long time. I haven't had such long delays with Ethereum, you have almost a whole month! Why haven't you tried canceling this transaction before?

I will do that, just waiting for a lower gas price.
I don't expect the gas fee to lower at any moment in the next few days but it reduced a lot compared to days ago, now it will get confirmed if you ask him to send it with anything above 140+ gwei at the moment.

The cost of gas fee for eth is quite high at the moment, with the cost of 75 gwei it is very low for now,  but  the  cost  75  gwei is  currently not  in
the lowest cost recommendation, the lowest fee when I try to send coins from smartcontract is $ 50. Waiting is one way in your case, or canceling
a transaction, by resending with a larger fee.

He was using small gwei. There are two choices

1. You should ask the sender to replace its transaction with higher gwei to make the transaction can be confirmed by the block
2. Cancel your transaction by sending the zero transaction

When you are doing both and you will not lose your ethereum but you might lose the fees that already paid on your old tx that gets cancelled or replaced.

It's better if you are moving from metamask to the mycrypto.com because the fees can be adjusted easily and you will be much more easy to replace it with a new transaction or cancel it.

What to do with this transaction?
One guy sends me 0.05ETH including the gas fee of 75 Gwei. This transaction is still unconfirmed, more than 20 days. Here is no problem to contact them if we can do something about that.

I haven't had a case like this before, because I always use the recommended fee whenever I send. This is payments to me.
What to do, how to cancel it and to be sure that it will not be lost ETH?
If he only uses 75 Gwei as a transaction fee, it is certain that the transaction is pending due to a lack of transaction fees, as a recipient you cannot do anything, you can only ask the sender to cancel the transaction and send it again with a higher fee, in accordance with the current transaction fees, as for the technicalities, many friends have explained it.

If the sender doesn't want to cancel the transaction, then you can only wait until the Ethereum transaction fee drops below 75 Gwei.

Ethereum's transaction costs are currently very high, even though prices have fallen but transaction costs have increased.

Since this is a payment to you, the guy in question should be the one to do something not you if he is trustworthy enough,  I think only he can cancel transaction and resend from his end but the way I see it this guy will probably end up paying a more higher gas and he sure don't want that, I guess all you can do is wait for July when eth 2.0 will start taking effect  Grin

But are we really sure that once this eth 2.0 will take effect, there will be immediate effect in terms of gas fees? I have read that they will implement the berlin hard fork this april and one thing that they will address is the gas efficiencies. Right now, the OP can just request from the other side to cancel this transaction as others already suggested. Don't think the gas fee will go down anytime soon.

AFAIK, it will only take around 2 weeks for one transaction to be canceled if it's not confirmed by the miners. Ask the person sending those ETH to you to re-send it with a higher fee.
This time, it should be higher than the recommended gas for you to have an assurance that it won't take another long day of being unconfirmed.

It needs a Gas fee because it will self send an amount of 0 ETH in order to cancel the pending transaction and metamask for sure won't sponsor that  Cheesy.  If you are in a hurry, you need to spend more, that is the "rule" of miners in order for your transaction to be confirmed first.

Here is no need to hurry, maybe that's why we got into this situation  Sad
Also as I know, the sender uses a hardware wallet, I am not sure does he know how to properly connect metamask with HW.
Of course, there is no problem with the sender, he is quite cooperative.

this will result in another fee for cancelling the transaction, right? i have also been waiting for a transaction to be confirmed for more than 20 days actually, i have no idea why i waited still lol but yes the transaction is still hanging but this time I'm the one who are sending the transaction using the metamask. i find it funny that cancelling a transaction thru metamask extension will ask for the Cancellation Gas Fee.

Or they can compromise, sharing the expenses for gas fee.

the way is simple, tell the sender to make a new blank transaction again but send it to the sender's own address...
I have experienced something like this several times and it happened because I made a custom gas fee. My advice is to send eth, you should just choose a low fee so that the transaction can be processed even though it takes a long time, but only a few minutes.

the solution to this problem is just waiting until GWEI touches 75 if don't touches 75 GWEI, the transaction will continue to be pending even longer very upset discussing the issue of ethereum gas fees which are increasingly absurd users will run to other networks including myself if the price of GAS is getting higher

Don't cancel this transaction and you don't need to do anything. Now the transaction could be complete because after the Ethereum price crashed, transaction cost will be low. Ethereum prices have been increasing in the last 21 days. Maybe that is the problem of not completing your transaction.

I would like to recommend to use built-in metamask crypto wallet of Brave browser as Cancelling/Speed Up option is available on there which is easy to use. Though anyone can use MyEtherWallet to cancel that previous transection by sending zero eth to the own address with using the same nonce. But Brave's crypto wallet has a option to speed up that transection with a simple button. TBH, it'll cost huge fee if sender cancel/speedup that transection as gas fee is on surge though ethereum price is down.

Gas hasn't been under 90 gwei in over a month now. So best you can do is ask the other side to cancel the tx and send it again with a bigger gas allowance.
At the time of writing, safe low is 120 gwei, so around 150 gwei should process it in minutes

The cost of gas has recently fluctuated over the trading situation itself. Even if you set the gas to high, the gas can increase by 4x in a few minutes.

I think that's exactly what happened. It took too long for him to finalize the transaction.

I also experienced the same thing with you and tried to cancel my transaction via metamask which was also delayed due to setting the gas too low. I followed this method https://info.etherscan.com/how-to-cancel-ethereum-pending-transactions/#replacing-cancel-pending-transactions

when you did a transaction cancellation? I see it's still pending.

What to do, how to cancel it and to be sure that it will not be lost ETH?
Just ask him to rebroadcast the ethereum transaction with same nonce and increased gas fee than actual recommended fee than now. your ETH is not lost it just need the boost on gas fee.

I will do that, just waiting for a lower gas price.

How did your story end? There are changes? It's sad that you have to wait more than 3 weeks.
The advice of canceling the transaction seems overwhelming. Isn't that the whole point of the books, that it is impossible to undo transactions?
