Pension funds are by nature long term investments and bitcoin has shown by historical figures to have outperformed other major assets such as gold, real estate ,bonds etc. So it makes some logical sense to include in it long termed portfolios such as those of pension schemes.Since they are very volatile at the moment, only a small portion at the moment is dedicated to bitcoins

Not your Keys, Not your Bitcoins
Well.. I expect that national reserves to be composed at least in a small part of Bitcoin and/or other cryptocurrencies in the close future. So why wouldn't pension funds take the first step and invest in them? This is a great thing and I would say - a natural progress to the adoption of crypto.

Knowing all the risks, as well a part of crypto potencial, this for sure is one of the best moments to join crypto world. Wonder how many people will start cry to have ignored bitcoin and altcoins at the moment, just because we are into bear market, it means there is one extra opportunity to get projects under their real value.

It is really interesting that at last some pension funds have wet their feet in cryptocurrency investing. Someone is going to be very happy or very pissed off in the future. What do you think of this? It is really a breakthrough for crypto as an investment?
There is a major difference when an institutional investment firm invest in cryptocurrency and investing in crypto based start up companies, they see the viability of the market and the risk factor, by reading the headlines i thought they are investing in crypto currencies and as far as i am aware they will not invest in any high volatile high risk ventures. Smiley
And there are quite large amounts of investment. This factor is the most important. I believe that big investors will soon come to the market.

Crypto can be a profitable investment, but also has risks because of volatile prices, pension funds are for old age and will be very risky if you put all your retirement funds into crypto.

That must be a brave decision they made. As others are feeling. dismayed on the current status of cryptocurrency in general, they have taken a bold step. They must have seen the future potential of cryptocurrency and they don't want to be left behind in not engaging on it. This news will encourage readers to do the same as well.
Yes I must say I share your thoughts. Cryptocurrency is something that would yield a better possibility in the coming future and it's wise that everyone is taking a good position for the future

It is good progress of bitcoin because right now there are many people who believe in the bitcoin as instrument of investment and protect our values of money in the bitcoin, pension funds will increase in couples year later and the manager of it, they know the money will move to the bitcoin for in coming future. So for all of community there is no wrong to make retirement plan on the bitcoin or at least long term investment in the bitcoin.

don't put all of our pension in bitcoin. this is just to be on guard so that if we get our losses not to shred, because the money we invest is not all but only a part. if we feel we get a profit, we can gradually add our investment.

if you buy a house with a portion of the money after you make a profit with trade, or if you make real smart investments, both possibilities are profitable... but I'm an stupid.. I won a lot of money, but I didn't get anything.. and this year my money melted in the altcoins... Keeping coin only is a gamble.!

With the current price of bitcoin that Would be a good sign for crypto market as a whole. The more money flows in crypto the more chance it would goes up and it would be a win win situation to all crypto investor.
This is not as easy as this....
the more money flows in.... but what happen if the money is not enough that flows in? That would cause the price to go still down, so the investors will sell instead of buy...

Anyone can put their money in whatever place they want. They just need to do some research and for me, I don't consider this kind of surprising.

Even big companies are into blockchain nowadays.

It's a very high-risk decision and I appreciate the act of investing very large funds, I think they take advantage of this moment because the price of bitcoin drops to the lowest point and if the only bitcoin rises 10% then the pension fund will also increase

it's too risky to bring the pension to crypto, maybe you can only bring funds to crypto 30% believe that bitcoin has a risk. and you have to think about that

A lot of blockchain related start ups are going to be happy because a major percentage of these funds are going to be invested in those companies. Only a minor percentage will be invested in liquid cryptos. That makes complete sense because pension fund is a serious money and a lot of people are dependent on it. So investing completely in liquid crypto assets will be very risky. Rather it is somewhat safer to invest in the equities of blockchain companies.

Hope this investment effort will be an eye opener for a lot of market regulators who are still skeptical about cryptos.

I agree with that. It believe it is not yet the right time to invest all your pension funds to liquid crypto assets. A very risky and very volatile investments. People are depending on it. So handling this kind of money is no joke at all. But, setting a small percentage might do the trick.

This will be a very small percentage indeed. The equivalent of dipping a toe in the water to check the temperature.

I am sure that some people use their pension funds to jump into bitcoin and they use all of the money to buy bitcoin. But I would say that it's not a good idea and I will call that is greediness because we don't know what will bitcoin do in the future. Bitcoin price itself will still fluctuate from time to time, and we cannot expect to see bitcoin can increase higher in one night, and that is impossible.

I will suggest to that person to use 50% of the total of his pension funds to invest in crypto. 30% to invest in bitcoin, and 20% in the altcoin but he needs to know how to pick the right altcoin, so he doesn't pick the wrong coins for the investment. I am sure that he can found the best coin and he can be able to make a big profit for a long-term investment.

Is it real? Are really peoples putting their money from pension in cryptocurrencies?
If yes, then they might surely be looking for positive side of cryptocurrencies and might be seeing bitcoins on a great height ahead. Bitcoins are great for even holding for a year or two. Most of the percentage of centralised currencies are being entering the decentralised markets and it should really be good for the cryptocurrency markets.
Also this proves that the demand for cryptocurrencies is rising rapidly as even old aged peoples are been putting their pension money into them. This might surely hike up the price.

According to my concept in US public pension funds . focus on cryptocurrency investment . The first investment of pension funds in virtual currency investment space. Currently   there is no disclosure of the investment terms apart from equity investments in crypto based companies the fund will retain a portion of the value as cryptocurrency like Bitcoins there is a belief in the world institutional that if the industry will be around  for a long time, it will be very valuable the smart money is not distracted by price but looks at the long term trends and believes they are a great way to deliver risk reduced returns .
