I'm collecting old mining equipments for cheap prices. It's just for fun, I don't turn them on. Anybody with a sane mind won't buy them for real mining for profit. Cheesy

They are still good learning tools to.   For someone wanting to learn about mining with little money you can grab one of these.

To be honest I'm surprised the value they still hold.  It seems collectors and those wanting to learn are there, and there is a market.

Time is the one thing you can't run from
It's the first portable ASIC miner, it has historical significance. I would buy one if I see it locally, not for mining of course. It would make a nice keychain or stick it on your desk at work to help promote bitcoin.
I saw this post and remembered seeing this lol

The best use for them I've seen

Curmudgeonly hardware guy
I built the Compac (that TheRealSteve mentioned earlier) more-or-less specifically so it could be a learning tool for new players. I learned a lot of tweaking from the USB Block Erupter, but that thing's core voltage and clock were fixed in hardware and required electronics skill to change; the Compac can under/overclock from software and the core voltage is adjustable. Learn the basics of mining, running cgminer, even hardware tuning and it's about 24 times better W/GH than the USB BE and also $25

All that said, I should probably also look for USB BE since I think I only have one or two heatsink colors represented on the museum shelf.

They are a great way to learn about mining on a budget.   There are TONS off them out there.

So someone can use one of these and for 10-15 bucks learn mining with an actual asic.   They were good build quality so I expect to see them for a long time.

Indeed it is a cheap way to learn about mining. Gets you in the mining filed and world of setting up configs and changing and learning more about it. Saves a person from buying a massive unit and not having any idea on how to configure and losing profits or RIO on bigger units. Like you said 10-15 bucks spent is cheap enough and you get to learn.

I still have 30 of them from when I bought off someone on here. And have the next models up that produce 2.2 to 3GH Blue Fury USB miners. Maybe the price will go up on them as being a part of mining history for collectors. Might even just put them to mining again and leave running solo mining, maybe get lucky in generating a block or put to use on some other alt coins.

FUN > ROI
how much are the 333mh/s miners are going for 10 to 20 dollars, i have seen a few 3.2 ghs miners for about 25 to 30 dollars, 25 usd is about .09 btc so i would ratter get a 3.2gh/s miner then the 333mh/s dinosaur .
Going rate is pretty much $5/piece unless you've got a 'rare' one - but why sell at $5 if you can still fetch $20 on ebay?
And if a buyer is looking to buy a rare one, or just wants to complete a set - then it really doesn't matter that they could get 3.2Gh/s for $25, 16.5Gh/s for $25 (GekkoScience Compac), or even 100Gh/s for $25 as that wasn't what they were looking for.

they are great for new people who are interested in finding out how the mining thing works. it doesn't cost much and gets the job done, eventhough it isn't worth using them.

collectors are surely to think in the future the possibility of owning a machine that changed the thinking of the world on tariffs among other things, always have a group of fanatical collectors of everything imaginable the business and be the one to own, old model over time, tendency to value depending on their state of preservation

Maybe it could be used to heating small rooms on winter instead off burn charcoal.

i doubt so, it would be a waste anyway, one is like 30w, you need 10-20 for heating your room seriously, i think they are buying those because they are not bulky like an antminers and can be plug&play more easily, also more elegant to see, they work good with mac

Well with collectables its only as valuable as the number of copies there are in the market
So if someone goes and loses/destroys a bunch their value increases as well.

Theyre value should go up in the next few years as collector items.

Other than from a collector's point of view, i'm not sure why people would buy them Smiley
