Many people become greed if they know how to make money, and many of them fall because of the simple trick, so they lose their money. They know how things work, but the greed tells them that they can make more bitcoin by joining in those programs, and they forget that it is only a scam without a new way or old way with some modification. We can hope that many people can learn from that, so they don't fall with that offer.
I have to disagree with your opinion. It's not true to say those people who got scammed are the ones who are greedy in making money. This is partly true but not completely true. Greedy can be a very dangerous factor affects people decisions in a bad way. However, lack of understanding, knowledge and experiences are the main reasons why people got scammed. I don't think any of us who have the fundamental knowledge and awareness about this market will fall in those scam tricks!
It's psychological just like how social engineering works people could affect someone's minds but doing certain action and in this case the scammer is using popular people's account that's already officially verified. If it's not for that I highly doubt those people who got their money stolen by making mistake sending money to the scammer's address will be tricked like that.

Well, true I guess if the same message would have come from some unofficial account then people would have paid more attention but seeing big accounts tweeting about giveaway made many people trust them and in the end, ended up losing money.

Yeah, I just don't get it how a person holding bitcoin, know the basics of sending a transaction could fall for scams like this.
the basics of how bitcoin works (sending and receiving) totally have nothing to do with this scam. among 1 million of people there's always this guy that's smart enough to understand how things works but still fall for obvious scam anyway and that's truly humane. If we want to reduce that, we should tell them to be more vigilant and not getting taken over by greed.

This is for all those who thought that newbies are learning about scam schemes here is a shocking revealing story for you... Hours back Twitter accounts of big crypto influencers and exchanges were hacked and I've read few posts on this forum that not many would fall for it but guess what? You are damn wrong, scammers cater away with over 100,000$ worth of Bitcoin.

Honestly people aren't learning anything, I am so disappointed in the way people think nowadays, believing they can actually double their bitcoin, as a newbie, the moment I saw the giveaway on binance official Twitter account I knew it was a hack

Most of the times if not all the time, falling for all these fake giveaways starts with greed. The person will be so attached to the anticipated reward that he won't ask questions on how legit the giveaway is and once scammed he starts asking those questions. Scammers have understood that people tends to be drawn towards giveaways or doubling schemes once the reward is attractive which will blind them from seeing the truth, that is being greedy. It is sad such things are still happening and from the look of things, until people start being contented while asking the correct questions about most things they come across, they will continue to fall for scammers. Thus, there is need for people to learn from all these and do the right thing always.

It is the nature of humans to be greedy, and also the nature of humans to know what is real; and what is virtually impossible. Any double up scheme, or high interest platforms are scam, and they have to be avoided; irrespective of whoever has posted or advertised it. We need to be independent and strong with our decisios

Many keep saying this and these cameras are still smiling in their corners because they have got some victims. I sometimes imagine if people will ever listen and yield to advises.
Even if you are dealing directly with CZ and he tells you to send your coins to his private wallet, you had better run away, because it could be a clone version of CZ. If it is different from the exchange created, it will be a high risk of just send fund to anyone.
it has happened on several platforms, such as youtube and eve twitter that is now repeating itself and yet, none of it is legit.

It may be due to there are still a lot of newbies in cryptocurrency. Other's wanted fast profit so those usually ended to be filled by scam and hyip projects.
Yep, there are always many newbies to try their luck in crypto. Unfortunately, it is true that many of them just think about instant or fast profits. Whereas, trying luck in crypto without learning carefully in the first journey will lead to bad results like what we are discussing in this thread. Many of scammers or fraudsters out there, they know very well how to trap newbies. They offer tantalizing rewards or big amount of profits with less effort or in an instant way. This meets with newbies' expectations, so they become easy to be scammed.

In our world, nothing is permanent, since human greed together with stupidity. For the umpteenth time, people fall for the tricks of fraudsters, and even the same ones. We learn only from our bitter experience and nothing else, which is very unfortunate.

Well, this time I am fine with them falling for it. I mean it was everyone, from elon musk to jeff bezos to obama to god knows who else that I can't list them all here. So, it did made some sense, it was basically a lot of famous people all saying the same thing at the same time which should have been a trigger for scam but at the same time it was also looking like they decided to do something all together as well for a while.

I wouldn't believe it obviously, I wasn't even around and didn't know it happened but if I was online and seen it I would laugh because I have seen the same scam probably a billion times under famous peoples tweets before so I know the scam very well, but I do understand people who never dealt with bitcoin getting excited and buying in for it.

After years this type os scam still is working in crypto. There is just no amount of reminders that will keep people to be warned in sending tokens to someone even if they know it's not coming back to them.  They beleive in the word GIVEAWAY when they were sending tokens to get the giveaway. Its give a bad impression to cryptocurrency every time news like this comes up to social media.

I remember doubling was the famous ponzi by the times of 2014/2015 in crypto space but after that people got enough awareness against it.

But this must be a different situation because scammers are first targeting celebrities' twitter accounts and then making use of it for scamming. It is not a plain scam but it involves hacking which is the reason it is getting somehow success even in these modern days after lots of social things and awareness initiatives are happening everywhere.

Basically I will not believe even Binance's CZ will be announcing like they will be giving away 5000 BTC for some initiative because I know the value of 5000 BTCs like they do not need to do that for any reason unless otherwise they are the Satoshi and owning one million bitcoins Grin.

I am still afraid because hackers and scammers are getting more advanced these days which is seeming more than enough to convince more people. Hence, how smart hackers will be attempting their next thing and how many people are going to fall; this is somehow really worrying one for me.

People never learn that free money doesn´t exist, they will always try quick money schemes and always they will lose more than they get. It is a typical characteristic of human beings to have everything right now without any effort.

Since there is no manual for crypto invest some people will still lose money to scam giveaways, to invest in crypto you need to find answers about what's safe and what's not safe, there are good and bad paths and learning is the only thing that can guide you through

Newbies are likely to get exposed in scams first before they realised how Bitcoin and cryptocurrency works.

The recent hacked of high profile twitter accounts is a free marketing for Bitcoin, but its unfortunate that some people still  fall victims to scam. It just prove that not all crypto social influencers followers are aware of these scams and neglect to do their research.

Normally people who still get scammed from fake getaways are new to the crypto industry. People who still believe that money is easy to get in crypto not even researching about the legitimacy of the promotion or the identity of the people or group running it.

Yeah, I just don't get it how a person holding bitcoin, know the basics of sending a transaction could fall for scams like this.
It looks like they were buying it after the scammer has already published a new announcement about that. I should remind you guys about there are so many followers and it's not closing the possibility there was a few percents were belive if that was a legit announcement.
Nah, they're just greedy and try to convince themselves that's a legit announcement. Doubling scheme is never legit or to be a real deal. Even a baller guy never do that kind of thing, he would just do the airdrop and throwing money around freely.

There are two types of people at these situations, OP.
One are those who believe in doublers which is from the sound of it already looks like a pure scam. If there were things like doublers, why aren't there any rich people yet.
Two are those people who don't believe in doublers but because it is their popular/favorite celebrities, they believe it to be a true thing. That's why they're called social media influencers.

Edit: forgot to snip the whole post  Cheesy
