- New AMD kernels for AMD RX470/480/570/580, Vega, and Fury, providing slightly higher hashrate and slightly lower percentage of stale shares. The new kernels are used by default on these GPUs. You can also revert to using the old kernels with -clkernel 1 (or -clkernel 2 for Polaris)
- When using the new kernels, the mining intensity is 12 by default instead of 10
- The mining intensity range is now up to 14. Use the highest -mi values only with the new AMD kernels as for the other kernels the stale shares may increase too much

Hey PM, thanks for the update, Quick question: The text "You can also revert to using the old kernels with -clkernel 1" it sounds to me like a typo, on the readme.txt file, it states that 0: generic, 1: optimized, 2: alternative
But in your update you're saying that with option 1 you're reverting back to old kernels, so, which one to use for 580's? 0 or 1 option?

One wish in comparing with Claymore:
1. Claymore have intensity from 0 to 16. 8 is default. If I use GPU for other purposes during mining (video, small games) Claymore miner just lower the speed and other 3D app runs good.
2. Phoenix miner have intensity from 0 to 14. 12 is default. Speed a bit higher than Claymore with default intensity (12). But Phoenix miner during mining and playing even weak games gives more speed to mine but less to D3D app.
Lowering intensity to 9 in PM lower the speed but nearly not increase D3D power for apps.
Can you add in miner auto detection of D3D usage by other app and auto lower intensity for it? I just use my 1st GPU not only for mining...
Sorry if it too hard but Claymore can do that... I hope that you also can do that!
And another one question:
What about GPU tuning parameter in new kernels? Does it the same as in 2.7 or maybe 15 is not optimal now?

I'm in the same situation, my miner is also my PC (3 RX570). I'll update it to probably a Ryzen 2400G to use the integrated Vega cores as the primary video ouput.

The new version improve the hashrate for rx580 8gb. But for my Rx 470/570 4gb is better Kernel 2 and more low than claymore

It looks like what is already good, from 2.6 with all possible improvements only with each version gets worse, except for the extra functions. It is fun new features but leave the base as it was first. Thanks for the latest version Phoenixminer 2.8.b but a lot of extra functions has not been added unfortunately.

Hi.
There is no way to. make afterburner work after 3 gpu with new amd adrenalin driver. I tried ddu and i installed from lower version of 18.xxxx to higher but no luck. it works with 1 or 2 rx570 when you installed 3rd card it doesn't allow me to OC my gpu cards.Rx 570 cards are there but all cards are Gray out. so you cannot change anything there. Anybody has got idea or advice? Many thanks in advance.

Having problem with 1060 3gb and buffer (I have 25gb of pagefile). Im back to claymore (using -eres 0).
I will wait a fix in phoenix..
You can use -eres 0 with PhoenixMiner too. However this is only a temporary solution - in a few weeks you will have to switch to Windows 7 or other OS that doesn't hog the GPU memory like Windows 10 does.I will wait a fix in phoenix..
cvddc and mvddc do not work for AMD blockchain drivers 23 august 2017, claymore does, can you make it to work on your miner? Also, claymore stale shares are lower than your miner right now.
This is a known issue and unfortunately we can't lose more time trying to fix it as in these drivers the ADL support is seriously broken. The OC settings should work properly in any of the new 18.x.x drivers. As for the stale shares, this should be solved in the new PhoenixMiner 2.8b.....
Thanks for responding, that info is helpful. I did actually notice that even on reboot, the hardware settings previously set in PM are still active. But, like I said, I've been shutting down with a taskkill. I will continue to experiment. Considering that you specify a voltage in mV and not a mV offset I could not figure out the problem I'm seeing with super low voltages. If I reset my GPU using MSI AB (I didn't know there was a -resetoc command) and I run PM with a undervolt, say 1050mV on the core. It goes off and voltage looks good. Then if I close (the wrong way, I know), the 1050mV core voltage persists, but I understand why now. What is still a mystery, is that when I launch PM again, with the same 1050mV setting in my bat, then I see like 930mV in GPU-Z and I get artifacts leading to either driver crash or BSOD. So I still can't figure that one out. Again, this is on an R9 390 / Hawaii.

There is no -resetoc option in the current release but it will be added in the final 2.8 (or in the first 2.9 if it prove challenging). 2.8 crashes one of my rigs every 3-4 hours and needs manual intervention. Can’t really figure it out.
Could you send us a log file from around the crash? Also, info about what card you are using and which drivers would be helpful.Does the miner support Ethereum classic, can you provide list of supported coins?

Hello Phoenixminer, when the new version? I have 2-5% stale shares and no improvement in the Kernel with rx580 8gb
2.8b will be released late Sunday or early Monday depending on stability during the internal tests.Not ready yet?

my pool-side calculated hashrate (calculated from ACCEPTED SHARES) over long time periods always matches my miner reported hashrate within 1-2%, so i'd say the miner is pretty accurate...

thats a ~1% difference. seems to line up with my ~1% stales figure...
plus you still get credit for uncles anyway.

Yes, Ethermine pays .65% for stale shares which is better than nothing for sure.
Other pools don't give you anything for stale shares.
But mine and many other I know don't have the good fortune as you and maybe some others do
with that number lining up that close.
I have found it to be much different when you actually see the pool report vrs the miner report.

Then you have no idea what you stale shares are.
That number from the miner is totally worthless. That's why I wish PM would remove that from the display.
The number reported from the miner is useless. Only the pool knows if the share is stale.
That constantly confused everyone when they see that low number in the miner.
I think they leave it there so people will think they are getting this really great stale share rate.
I get 1 or 1.5% on the miner also. But the EtherMine pool shows the actual real stale shares submitted.
I have 4 to 8% stale shares at the pool sometimes a little higher. That's the only place it counts.
Even PM states that that number is not accurate if you look up previous post's from them explaining that
number.
