Would be interesting to know the txid involved in the original pizza transaction. Sorry if it's already in this thread. Didn't read all 8 pages.
here is :
http://blockchain.info/address/17SkEw2md5avVNyYgj6RiXuQKNwkXaxFyQ

yeah no date on the transactions; hard to know if anywhere the coins went are still in use today without tracking it on and on and on

I got mine coins from that tx a year ago and they were already 70+ txs away from the pizza purchase.
better you have scripted the tracking if you want to check your coins for pizza traces.

This needs to be a bitcoin holiday. we celebrate by buying pizza with bitcoins

I concur!  What do we call it, Bitcoin Pizza Day?  Laszlo's Pizza Day?

laszlo I would offer to buy you a pizza, but I'm not based in the USA, so they might think I'm a prank caller.

If you don't get any other offers I might look into how to go about buying you one online.

Are you getting hungry or do you just like pizza ? Cheesy

I just think it would be interesting if I could say that I paid for a pizza in bitcoins Smiley

^ So May 21st is Laszlo's Pizza Day!

I agree with this %100. Maybe do it a little like Reddit's Random Acts of Pizza. Or maybe even do it on there to help promote and raise awareness for Bitcoin

So how much pizza could you get for 10,000 btc today I wonder?

... at $20 per pie about 5500 pizzas?

Edit: so you could have 2 pizzas today or 5500 in 2 years time ....

Well I just bought a pizza for 0.3 BTC, so 10000/0.3=33,333.33 Pizzas.

who took the btc as payment?

afaik this is not known.
and there are two 10.000 btc transactions around May 22 so the gig probably happened twice (at least).

It was done in pm and the address was this one 17SkEw2md5avVNyYgj6RiXuQKNwkXaxFyQ

Seriously why don't we just get this thread stickied with an explanation why it's so important ... to remind rookies how far bitcoin has come.

and to think, that I just ordered a large pizza from Papa John's three nights ago for .4 BTC.

Who buys me a pizza in Luxembourg (they speak mostly french here, fml) get's bitcoins at a nice exchange rate (not ten thousand but 2-2.50). seriously if you want your first bitcoin running an errand for me and ordering me a pizza, we can make deals every week while I'm at the local hackerspace. can be scheduled for a bi-weekly semi-automated process (I confirm the event, then you take care of delivery), can write an app for that.

Luxembourgish, French and German even. Smiley LOL, I used to live in Esch/Alzette and could've pulled this off, no probs (save when P&T inadvertently swapped my phone line with a local hair salon's!) but that was many, many years ago, long before Bitcoin.

Great thread, this, by the way. Smiley

I completely agree. It's a mark of Bitcoin's accomplishment. The $120k pizzas

seriously if you want your first bitcoin running an errand for me and ordering me a pizza, we can make deals every other week while I'm at the local hackerspace in Strassen. can be scheduled for a bi-weekly semi-automated process (I confirm the event, then you take care of delivery), can scan you the flyers of my fav deliveries if interested. basically you purchase bitcoins with credit card while speaking french on the phone. simple as that Cheesy

Or I can return you such favor in future.
