I think that is scam because the value is too good to be true in my perspective. Also the fee is too much higher to the average fee I guess, so all in all the whole transaction is a kind of fishy and can result to steal your income. But the other question is, how did he get the coins?

I have never used a bitcoin ATM, but I often see bitcoin ATM machines on YouTube they don't work like that, why do you have to send bitcoin to get confirmation, it looks funny, sorry to meddle in your business, make sure it is correct, I feel you are being deceived because if your friend sends money it should have been sent, you don't need to send money too, obviously it's like fraud

hi guys
one of my friends want to send me 30000$ bitcoin from america california with easybit bitcoin atm
but he  says you should send 700$ to atm bitcoin wallet to confirm transaction!
is there anything like this in usa ?
also he says i send money to atm and it is pending for your 700$ verification from your distance wallet
he says just in usa atm machins needs this verification
is he lier or not ?

Why don't you tell "your friend" to send the $30000 via peer-to-peer exchange like localbitcoin or something?  We don't even pay that much ($700) for normal Bitcoin fee no matter the amount we want to transfer. Besides, I don't know of any crypto payment service that transfers fund that way without charging fees immediately
I guess both of your are trying to "play" yourselves or one is trying to scam the other

Add one more:
https://coinatmradar.com/bitcoin_atm/1909/bitcoin-atm-general-bytes-fontana-smokers-1st-choice/

I picked that at random, all the ATMs listed have a message like this at the bottom of the page:

Quote
WARNING! Have you been suggested a job opportunity and then asked to send bitcoins using ATM? Or found a great deal, e.g. car on craiglist, and was asked to pay in bitcoins using ATM? You are highly likely a victim of a scam. Read FAQ for details!

But the whole story is a bit fishy, I think the author is leaving a few details that might change the whole thing 180 degrees.
Anyhow, if that's what he wants, his choice, he has received enough red flags so he won't get scammed....I hope!

What kind of friend would try to scam you? I think that he is not your friend, just a stranger that told you he can send you money over bitcoin ATM.
If the case asks you to send money to an address in order to get money back then it is 101% scam.

The first thing I want to ask is why did you write this title? Anything in this world can be scam and bitcoin could never be it is made to solve all these scam and corruption issues. So don't even think like that.

The ATM is not a scam. It's your "friend". You're just confusing... Others might think ATMs are scams. Though I haven't tried one but it's the person who's obviously a scam. Maybe he's just taking advantage because he knew that you don't know much about this kind of things. So don't fall for it!! Why would you send bigger money for you to receive a smaller amount of money? even if he sends you $30, and you sent him $700, you obviously lost $670.

This could be trapped in you if you dont have to send it yet but if you already send it to your friend, that is your loss. A friend will give you on that much amount of bitcoin? $30K in bitcoin worth and then you need to spend $700 for the confirmation in the transaction. Come on! That is a big scam and don't trust random people that come from the internet. Stay away on that kind of people they are not a true friend.

Is he really your friend? That's definitely a scam. No transaction would ask you for a fee which is high as that. If that person is willing to send you something, he wouldn't ask you for a certain amount of BTC. Be careful with this kind of scamming strategy. Be wiser than scammers.

This is a scam for sure, you will only lise those $700 and you will never see the $30k. Thos service to ask you for money to make a withdrawal always ends with the service running out with your Money.

If he wants $700 to send you $30k why he doesn't take the $700 from the $30k?

And one last question, if he wants to send you $30k, why he wants to use an ATM? he can send that in BTC to your addy and let you exchange the money in your country.

This is a trap my friend, be careful.

This is a cheap scam. How can you send him money to confirm transaction before sending you $30k? Do you have any business deal with him or what? You had better be careful of cheap tricks, I get many persons on telegram asking me to send them money before sending me bitcoin that their bitcoin is stuck. Even though I have never use a bitcoin ATM but this is a clear scam scenario.
Obviously, it is. I may not using a bitcoin ATM but this is not the way you have to send money. ATM is already have some cash inside (i'm refering to fiat) at least. There has to be some kind of a store or banks that own the ATM. We can't send money through ATM though unless it has an address to confirm the transaction and that address his friend giving is probably his and not the ATM.

The question, Do you really talk to your friend? or a friend you just met last week ??

Because even though I have never experienced a transaction using a bitcoin ATM I know that you do not need to send a fee to your friend's wallet to continue the transaction, this is clearly a scam.

wow .. amateur scam way, I guess. I personally have never used a bitcoin ATM even though it's already in my country too. But for any reason as a form of transaction, there is no requirement to send 700 USD in any form just to confirm the transaction or verification.

<...>
A couple of considerations:

- I presume that your realive needs to purchase the BTC, since he is holding 30K$ to send over to you. Purchasing BTC on an ATM machine is normally pretty steep in terms of purchasing fees (look at https://coinatmradar.com/bitcoin-atm-near-me and filter by California). The fees seem to be between 6,7% and nearly 20%, a massive amount that he would probably need to pay out of the 30K being converted.

- Being the above the case, I figure he wants to use a BTC ATM for anonymity reasons. If so, someone is going to have to show some ID there due to the amount being sent (unless it’s been done in smaller batches). That may go against the objective on the sender's side.

The 700$ is certainly not going to go towards confirming the TX, and is way lower that the purchase fee that will be applied as per those announced on ATMs in California, so it doesn’t really add up (less of all sending it to an address "tied" to the ATM).

If you have already sent it then am really sorry for your loss because you got scammed already. You should have understood it when the amount was 700$. That's too big of an amount to ask mate..
Not even it is your friend such amount is huge and there's no way you can send transactions to bitcoin atm more likely it's your friend btc address and
he will benefits once you send the bitcoin. Be very careful and good thing that OP ask first, never to send anything without any knowledge regarding to
the transactions that you will going to deal with. That amount of money can be scammed out of your hands.

@omidkhs let me guess this is an online friend of yours, and you’re getting a good deal trading with him but I would like to break your heart by telling you that this is a big scam and advise you to stay away from him. Also remember that whenever you’re dealing with bitcoins the person sending bitcoins has to pay the fees, and the recipient never has to pay any kind of fees. I’m glad you used your mind and decided to take a second opinion otherwise you could have been scammed, and would have lost your $700.
