I understand the confusion when it comes to bitcoin. It took me some time not to think of it as "points from one of my child's online games" - the difference is I wasn't speaking out against it.
A Segway for me into bitcoin was that...I've paid cash for some of her points. Of course that changed my perspective enough to look into it.

In 2006 during my real estate years, some news stories were coming out; games online where you could purchase virtual property ect., being from Silicon Valley and having a child of "the RPG's" those types of propositions don't sound silly to me...it peaks my interest. Being a broker in CA during the crash taught me that...
1. I couldn't trust news from outlets or even information from my own associations
2. Money as we know it, is not working

Real life hard lessons...not from a book or some spoon fed news story.

One of the reasons I typically stay out of comments for online news stories (of any type). People seem happy to have loud opinions about things without doing any research...they sound like they know something for a minute and they're fine with that?

Things get out of hand here sometimes but you can wade through it and glen good information.
This is where I learned about controlling your keys, Gox and pre-orders....I wanted a Monarch so bad ;-)

I honestly don't know what to say when people say things like:

"Ohh a bunch of idiots had a bunch of imaginary money and lost it all.  What a shocker!"

How do you even write a response to that?

You tell them that it's not imaginary... It's not... It's not... I was in OZ!
Then stamp your feet and run away crying. Tongue (That is what I do.)

I better go get some coffee...
I want to have the nicer side of me available.

Yes it strikes as a form of ridiculousness above irony when people who are posting on the internet say bitcoin is just "1's and 0's" thereby worthless....*lol no LOL I say ;-)

Remember that not everybody who acts ignorant online actually is.

Some of them are drawing a paycheck for it. It's a form of psychological warfare.

That's why we need to do the same thing for free...

The comments sections are more important than the article itself. People want to follow the herd and that's mostly from the comments...

pearls before swine.

And maybe right now it's btc that's the pig. It's not for them. Not yet.

Youre effectively arguing with a toddler about why they will shave someday...but are you really ready to hand them the razor right now?

Oh dear God! The ignorance of these people is repulsive. And yet, I cannot look away. It's like watching a train wreck.

There seems to be a recurring concept in these posts: "Bitcoin is not real money. It is virtual. It only exists on the Internet so it is not REAL money."

So those pictures I have of you smoking joints and doing lines of white powder at a party this weekend when you called in sick and should have been at work...you'd have no problem with me showing them to your boss right because these pictures "Are not real. They only exist on the Internet. They are virtual pictures."

The more I read, the more I feel compelled to try to set these ignorant fools straight. But I will resist because I know you cannot fix stupid and that this is an exercise in futility.

I read through hundreds of those comments and almost all of them were completely idiotic and ignorant. I can envision some Senator somewhere reading through these and thinking, "See, the PUBLIC doesn't want Bitcoin. The PUBLIC thinks Bitcoin is a pyramid scheme and a scam."

All I could think of the whole time was Atlas Shrugged. I don't trust the government at all but I do think it tends to listen to the people and when the vast majority of people are morons, well....

Literally it was like 978 individual idiotic comments from 978 people who are wrong.

It was too overwhelming, replying to that many stupid people, saying the exact same thing.

No matter what we do they will not understand bitcoin, it is totally waste of time teaching them.
Indeed. Those morons are beyond salvation. The amount of ignorance and stupidity is just overwhelming.
