If you want the best altcoin to buy, I recommend you to buy Ripple (XRP) as your last altcoin of choice. While cheap, XRP have tremendous resilience in the crypto market and had probability of exploding and a potential gain of 10~100x.
Actually many coins have "cheap price" of that you can pick through, like ADA, ETN, MANA, DOGE, and BCN. But, XRP seem to be the one best choices in my opinion.

You can try bitcoin cash , it is also a good altcoin to keep right now.And im still expecting it to be more better in the future.
Many miners are keep on supporting this coin , that's why the price of it continue to grow in the market.
You can invest here , because it has a good reputation so far.
NEO and NXT for me. You might want to look in that direction. Just to add that you research these coins to enable you take an informed decision.

I don't want to sound to cheesy or something like that but onion coin is the coin u should consider it to invest...i'm angry that I did not buy more of them...why I didn't listen to my friend...the price is going just up...all other alt coins are droping...
It's going to be very hard to choose 1 best altcoin to buy because everyone will give you a different answer, you need to do your own research and invest in a coin that you like and not just listen to people. You also need a lot of luck to succeed, everyone is betting on the next coin that is going to be a top10 coin and for me it's syscoin
If you want only one tip you can go and check the Tron. I keep hearing very interesting things about it. I checked them aswell and i saw they are very active and they are chasing new opportunities all the time. So it could be a nice investment.

Stratis 
I have a few altcoins for long term whose icos just ended this year. These coins are a bit young but they have shown great progress over the last months and as for me, i believe these coins are perfect for long term investment. The said coins are avt, kick, and ripple. Though ripple isn't that new but i see some potential in it. You can check these coins and choose which of them you can add in your collection.
NXT coins that match for you if you want to invest. well, it is a long term or short term. But if you can actually wait in the long run it will be much more profitable since it sure would get a bigger profit too if only compared with results in the short term.
For me a lot of great altcoins that still undervalued now is much better to pick also try to get some Signal token or Spectivr sure it will hit the best price afterwards, for the current coins i saw icx, ven,verify etc. But the best for me is icx. It has a lot of working and usable products as of now.
