Great post from bdanyo. Hopefully this will clear up what "marketing" really means to some people. Everything good takes time and getting massive rise in popularity and price just temporarily is not the way to go..unless you're trying to exit the market.

Going to clear some misconceptions that most have about marketing and how it works, especially on recent comments on how we've "failed" on promotional and outreach purposes. Most are under the impression that as long as we get immense exposure such as say, prime time superbowl advertisement with millions of engaged viewers, price would skyrocket.

Has it been ever considered, with the Bitcoin foundation, and millions at their disposal, why Bitcoin is not taking that approach and burning through as much via traditional marketing campaigns? And specifically why, they are getting consistent media coverage with top tier media outlets? It's because they have a story that journalists around the world can write a story home about - millions in user base, utility (merchants and 3rd party infrastructures), incidents such as MtGox, hacking of exchanges, recognition by governments and influential figures and so on.

In short, marketing entails 3 core components that are closely intertwined with each other -

1) Product/Service design and branding.
2) Designing information platforms AND utility infrastructures to convert prospective users of the product and/or service. (Answering WHAT it is, HOW it works and HOW it benefits them)
3) Driving traffic or giving those platforms exposure so conversion could be performed.

A product or service that sells is one that user can understand the following - what it is, how it works and how they can benefit them. Most forget that cryptocurrencies are classed as a highly complex financial product/service. And that most fail on the last component (and doing a poor job on the WHAT and the HOW questions), which translates directly to utility, or more simply - what can Pandacoin be used for? This is what the majority of resources and manpower of the Development Team is concentrating on now. The 100k merchant ecosystem is no joke, it's going to happen and our future Pandacoin community will be able to use their PNDs to purchase goods and services worldwide across a vast range of existing merchants and retailers easily. That is what we call utility, and ultimately, reasons for people to get into Pandacoin.

Cryptocurrencies like Bytecent, that are promising a massive promotional campaign whilst doing a poor job at the first 2 core components of marketing is frankly a waste of resources and feeds into the misconceptions that most users think will have it go to the 'moon'. It needs to be understood that one of the first questions that ideal users that will USE the crypto (not speculators, which is the market segment that we are trying to avoid) will ask is "So what can X-crypto be used for?", and if such reasons are not present, the campaigns will fail to convert successfully.

So at this point, you might be asking, what has Pandacoin achieved so far? Let me provide you a summary on what we've done (and will continually improve) and how it ties deeply into the first 2 core marketing components, so it makes sense community members that are confused -

Easy to understand (education) - the complexity of cryptocurrency platforms, such as methods of mining, obtaining, using compared to traditional currencies is a barrier of entry for mainstream users. Most are still stuck on the 'Why use X crypto when traditional methods of payments have served me and society well for decades now?' question.

Easy to use (simplicity) - a platform that segregates only tech-savvy users, and are hard to use are doomed to fail and will never be mainstream due to barriers of entries involved.

Easy to spend (reasons to OBTAIN and USE PND) - any cryptocurrencies that serve no purpose and will fail eventually when it retains its status as nothing but an abstract form of commodity that has no utility. A currency is a unit of exchange that could be used to purchase goods and services. A currency is a unit that transfers value from one party to the other. We are working on this part right now, so both we, community and the development team, could proudly tell our friends and family that Pandacoin is 'Easy to Spend'.

We've already got a solid foundation that is superior to the majority of alternative cryptocurrencies out there on presenting to users that we market later - WHAT is Pandacoin and HOW Pandacoin works. We've been following a well defined plan from the start, and are now in the process of completing the 'HOW and WHAT Pandacoin can be used for' AKA 'how Pandacoin benefits users' component.

Any cryptocurrencies that do not cover the 3 core aspects of marketing as described above, and only concentrate on exposure will not succeed. Bitcoin is an exception due to advantages of first market mover's advantage. The space is now convoluted with so many scams, unsubstantiated claims and plans from competing cryptocurrencies that feed into crypto-speculator's greed and their get-rich-quick mindset - it highlights their complete lack of understanding of how to design and package a crypto and carve out a need for it in a highly competitive market.

There is no short cut unfortunately, all the steps mentioned in this post is required to be executed by a competent team before our vision of mainstream mass market adoption will happen. We're making progress, following our internal plans to reach there. We're doing this in a proper method to carve out a space in what is will be an incredibly competitive multi-billion dollar industry. We're taking the necessary steps to ensure Pandacoin's survival and making sure it will be used for what cryptocurrencies were designed for in the first place - A widely used unit of exchange to purchase goods and service with a large merchant ecosystem, with a massive community base, because it is Easy to Use, Easy to Undestand and Easy to Spend.

That is what I see with my latest try to send PND to another address. This is the first time I tried to send to another address and before that I have backed up and restored many times my wallet.dat file as I had issues with PandaBank. I had a balance of ~10mil and wanted to send 5mil. Now I only have a balance of 5mil but on the other address I do not see the 5 mil I sent.

What to do?

1) What version do you have? Make sure you update to 3.0.1 if you have not already
2) What mode are you in, if you are in lite mode switch to hybrid mode rather.
3) After doing the above two you may need to resync - to do this change to 'classic mode' (which will delete your blockchain) and then back to 'hybrid mode' - wait for the sync to complete after which you should be fine. (Make sure you are on 3.0.1 first before you try this)

I would suggest people put up their BTC on the support side rather than on the selling side, that way you get to have cheaper PND and help support the price!

You can check your transaction here: https://bchain.info/PND/
If transaction was registered in blockchain so you probably have a problem with your wallet.
Maybe try sync your wallet in old PandaBank mode. I also had problems with the hybrid, but in the old version everything is fine.

Price is low, not due to major dump, just lack of buy support.

It kinda makes sense since we don't have any "happenings" scheduled in the near future.

however, whenever the said "happenings" are announced, it sure would look nice to the potential investors if we had a strong buy support. So put up some support if you can. I will do so myself as soon as my btc clears.

why not simply tip celebrities on twitter with the pandacoin tipbot? cheaper and their fans would see it aswell. Shocked

Nice idea Smiley
I think it's great also! Smiley
People will definitely talk about PND and of course some (maybe a lot?) will do their own research and get deeper into crypto and PND.  Wink
I am not on Twitter, but i would love to see this!
This kind of promotion could turn PND into a well known and liked meme/crypto... if people don't see it as a spam, lol!  Roll Eyes Cheesy

Dev,

I see a wired thing after upgrade. Check link

Any suggestions?

That's normal, ignore it.

it has nothing to do with which version you're using currently, it's like an echo that's still going through the network, it should already be significantly less frequent

Patch 3.0.1 Patch Released - Mandatory Upgrade from PandaBank v3.0.0 to v3.0.1 Patch Notes

- Fixed an issue for hybrid mode – that was causing invalid stakes for some users. *The nature of this patch is mandatory if you are currently running v3.0.0, to prevent this issue from occurring again*
– Made toolbar menu icons visible on OSX systems.
– Fixed an issue that was leading to small font sizes on some OSX systems.
– Initial translation of UI into zh_CN (Simplified Chinese).
– New command line option -qm that can be used to give an absolute path to a .qm localistation file (generator by qt-linguist) – this is useful for UI translators who want to test their translations.
- Speed improvement for ‘verify’ phase of hybrid syncing.
– Improve some text/messages within UI and ensure text/messages that could not be localist can now be localised, to allow for full localisation by translators.
– Allow translators to select the UI fonts they want used as each language should ideally have its own fonts rather than blindly using the same fonts.
– Fixed a UI issue with transaction grid ‘summary header’ whereby some of the balances would, in some instances, no longer be visible if shrinking a maximized window.
– Replace pandachain.net with pnd.showed.us as blockchain explorer.
– Fixed an issue in ‘transfer pane’ where holding down the mouse over ‘add another button’ would incorrectly perform the action multiple times.
– Fixed some usability issues in transfer pane UI, inform user if trying to make a payment with no from address selected, better error message if balance is short due to staking and other minor changes.

Vave.com - Crypto Casino
These forums are set-up for the exact purpose of contacting everyone on the team all at once.  Not sure where scare tactics come to this ... my troll detector is beeping ...

Don't believe what? That I do not have affiliations with Denisa? I do not. Just her manager and via Facebook which barely counts.

As for money I assume Panda's lawyers would work with her people once interest was established.

I just sit back and watch my PND become more valuable.  The PND devs can reach out themselves, my PND still goes up if it works. Just offering to be involved and not just spout ideas.

You're thinking in US terms where $5000 dollars buys you a 2AM AM radio ad on Sunday night from an E-list celebrity from the 1970s. In poorer countries getting the equivalent of Howard Stern to promote your product daily is within reach budgetwise.

Again. I am claiming no affiliations with anyone, just a desire to do the legwork assuming backing from the Panda organization. No funds would touch my hands.

Minairia3:

It sounds like you are trying to scam the Pandacoin community out of money and information.

There is absolutely no proof that you are affiliated with this supposed celebrity, nor is there any proof that you have the ability to accept money on her behalf even if you were.

If you want the Pandacoin community to even begin considering any such "partnerships", there needs to be 100% irrefutable proof that the celebrity in question is actually interested, there has to be a contract drawn up, and agreements made in an official capacity. Even then, we would question the value of such an arrangement.

I suggest you stop pushing this "offer" and go back to making twitter posts and BCT posts on other threads as you have been doing.

In addition to this:

It's good that you're coming up with idea's to promote Pandacoin and that you're thinking outside of the box.
However we can not support such a venture. First of all because of the reasons LMP mentioned + the fact that celeb endorsement really doesn't work as well as you might think. Lets say the deal would be 5000 USD, and 100 people actually start using PND, that's 50 USD per person to acquire. No company would go for that! (unless you're selling something that's worth a few 1000 obviously). We've read studies about it and for us it's a no go.

The community can start their own projects and we encourage that, but we don't encourage people to spend money on things like this or on advertising a nascar car. The cost is a lot higher than the reward. Also: you're giving money (or PND) to someone who you trust will do something good with it... but who you really know nothing about. Cryptoworld is the wild west, do your research and even then you have to be careful not to get scammed.

Somehow, I don't believe you. Like I said, if your business proposition was legitimate, you would have contacted the developers directly, not applied scare tactics to the community to encourage us to engage in business with you.
