the 8th matchday ended yesterday with a fabulous 4-2 home win of stal mielec against zagłębie. due to the 1-1 of legia vs. piast gliwice, śląsk wrocław is now the new leader in the ekstraklasa.

Janusz Niedźwiedź is the first coach to be sacked in the polish ekstraklasa this season. widzew łódź, which he managed, collected just 7 points after 7 games this season and finished 12th in the table. yesterday there was the catch-up game from the 3rd matchday. śląsk wrocław defeated pogoń szczecin 2-0 away from home and climbed to third place in the table with 10 points - it is now the third win in a row. pogoń, on the other hand, now occupies 14th place (with one game less).
